Part 1, Chapter 1: The last time she saw her father

She saw the chair flying. It was as if the world was in slow motion. Reyna could feel her heartbeat banging on her chest, her nerves tingling. The chair was thrown by her deranged father, Julian Ramírez- Arellano (a former soldier in Iraq), and the dark wooden chair smashed right at her bigger sister, Hylla. Her sister screamed before crumping on the cold floor. Reyna wasnt sure if she was still alive or if she was... oh, god. All Reyna felt was fury. The sight of her sister on the ground covered with broken chair shrapnel flipped a switch. Since her father was a war veteran, he had a collection of different war weapons.

"He's not a human anymore." She told herself. It was clear. "It is enough."

Reyna grabbed a beautiful bronze sabre sword from its stand next to where she was standing. The weapon was cold to her touch but her anger burned furiously.

It has to stop, now.

Sooner than she thought, and without thinking, she found herself swinging the cold, heavy blade right across her father's torso. The fear paralysed her. It was too overwhelming. Everything went so fast. She heard her father scream before he suddenly dispersed into a golden cloud. Then it was gone.

The young Puerto Rican girl stepped back in horror, staring at the sword that lay on the ground where her father stood just a second ago. Her hands trembled and she looked at them as if she were transformed suddenly into a cold- hearted murderer.

You are. A voice said.

The girl felt tears streaming down her face. She turned around and staggered to her fallen sister, the person who always kept her safe whenever their father would throw a temper tantrum.

What have i done?, but he had yelled at them, accusing them for being spies.

She fell to her knees, chest tightening, tears streaming. She touched her sister's smooth hands and tried to shake her awake, if she was even alive. Hylla opened her eyes, still dazed. Then she saw her younger sister, crying, clutching her hand. She shot up and yelled, "Stay away from her!". But then she saw that their house was quiet, and empty. Nothing but white walls, display cases and furniture.

"Where is father?"

Reyna hugged her older sister and sobbed.

"I KILLED HIM, I KILLED HIM..."

Hylla was still dazed. She patted her sister's head.

"He's dead?"

Reyna trembled and Hylla's cloudy mind began to settle.

oh gods

She hugged her, trying to reassure Reyna that everything was alright. And yet, her conscience was trying to tell her something. Hylla could feel herself shaking. Her chest and abdomed trobbed but was numb. She looked around her, at the broken chair.

"I KILLED HIM!"

"Reyna cut it out." Hylla said. "You didn't kill him. He wasn't even a man anymore!"

Murderer. A raspy cold voice came.

The two shot straight up, blood running cold. Reyna huged her sister's arm. Hylla looked around, suddenly alert and wary.

Traitor.

"Hylla." Reyna's voice trembled. "What's that?"

Hylla tried to focus at the dark corner of their living room. She was sure somehing was there but couldn't make out what.

The girl speaks of the truth. She has stained our family name. She is a murderer, a traitor, a monster.

Reyna began to cry again.

"Its true!" She squeezed Hylla's arm and pressed her forhead on her back. "I killed our father!"

Then, ghosts began to appear, turning the air cold and freaky. Misty apparitions is strange clothes. There was one dressed as a conquistador, one as a pirate, another wore military fatigues, another wore a tux and more. Hylla stepped back, making sure she could still feel her little sister. Fear was all she felt. But she couldnt show it to Reyna, not now. She needed to be brave for her.

"Who are you?" Hylla was relieved to hear a clear and superior voice.

The one in a conquistador clothes stepped forward. Hylla stepped back.

"We are family, generations with the Ramírez- Arellano blood. But you-" he pointed a translucent bony finger at Reyna, who was peeking. "-have insulted our family by murdering kin."

Hylla felt her courage return, no one messes with her sister.

"So?" She harshly replied.

"You must leave or else we kill you as well."

That made Hylla nervous.

"That's what we are gonna do." Hylla reassured.

She felt Reyna shift behind her.

Then the ghosts dispelled and the air was warm again.
