Mysterious Within the Castle

Mysterious Within the Castle

Gindloc and Tazul sit by a table in a dark room at the top of the east wing tower. The only light in the room comes from an orb in the center of a round wooden table. The Draugnus orb, an orb so powerful it's able to communicate across great distances, even in the murky dead lands of the Dark Abyss.

King Rathmal appears on the orb with his usual furrowed brows and scowl. Dark ash-like marks covered parts of his face, no doubt from the battles that he's been training with the dark king. Nothing shows behind him, but a faint purple light that surrounds him.

"I will be away longer than I thought. My training is moving slowly." Rathmal said, while trying to hold back his anger.

"Why is that my King?" Tazul asked.

"I suspect Callimor isn't showing me everything. He is intentionally holding me back. I must find my answers within this castle for myself. Once I do, I'll bring it back, and we will no longer need him."

"Understood, my king." Tazul said.

"Did you find out where Jasmin was hiding this whole time?" Rathmal asked.

"No sir, with her magic being constantly drained, she's unconscious every time I check. But what do we do with the prisoners, sir?" Gindloc asked.

"You are sure they are not the same warriors from before?"

"Yes, sir. They are very weak, no traces of magic."

"Find the rest, and report to me as soon as you do. Who knows, the Kingdom could always use more knights."

"Yes, sir." Tazul said.

"We will soon have this world at our mercy, and not even the Dark King Callimor will stand a chance."

The orb soon returns to its normal state, filled with white smoke, constantly swirling like clouds in a storm. As Tazul and Gindloc stand up, they hear a loud thud from the neighboring room.

Tazul and Gindloc peer at the stone wall, almost looking like they hope to find his answers written on it.

"What was that?" Gindloc said, as he pulled out his sword. While Tazul places his hand on his chained weapon.

"I don't know. That room should be unoccupied."

Gindloc turns to Tazul and silently motions for Tazul to follow him. He remains quiet as he heads towards the door and grabs the metal handle. Gindloc opens the door, peeking outside to see any sign of movement.

"What do you see?" Tazul asked.

"There's no one there. Let's check the room." Gindloc whispered.

Although Gindloc and Tazul wore heavy metal armor, they remained quiet as they walked towards the neighboring door. As Gindloc reaches out his hand towards the handle, a clear barrier stops him from getting any closer.

"An enchantment? This has Rathmal's trace on it. Why would Rathmal block this door?" Gindloc asked.

"Who cares? I'm just glad it wasn't anything scary."

"What do you mean? We don't even know what's in there?" Gindloc asked.

"If Rathmal has it secure, whatever it is, there's no need to fear it." Tazul said while giving Gindloc a duh-like expression.

"Aren't you curious? What could he be hiding?"

"Why are you questioning his decisions? Let it go and trust him." Tazul said as he turned around and walked down the hall.

Gindloc, still puzzled by the events that took place, he continues to stare and examine the enchantment that was before him. The enchantment is powerful, too powerful for him to break. As the urge to investigate increases, he decides to stop and continue this after some research and proceeds down the hall and towards his room. As he turns the corner, a black mist seeps under the door, floating down the hall and out a nearby window.
