The 99 travelers were the first public group of humans to travel to other dimensions using a new gateway they called The Void. There have been others who have ‘accidentally’ discovered gateways, unsure whether they had magical abilities, or were simply in the right place at the right time. Using the energy these gateways left on Earth people began to build facilities and organizations to harness its power. They tested what could enter and leave the void, small items, plants, pieces of technology, animals, then people. Most people that entered came back with no effect, however some went in, disappeared or came back claiming to have seen monsters on the other side. As tests continued and the void grew in size, it didn’t take long for creatures of the other side to establish communications. Once the humans and creatures came to agreements years later, they decided it was time to present the void to the rest of humanity.
Companies made it to be a fun tour of different worlds. Another way for the rich to satisfy their needs for adventure, and for the less fortunate to find better environments for themselves. Out of thousands of people going through intense training, preparation, background and health checks, only 100 were chosen. The remaining humans were put into groups of 10, told that they would explore all 10 realms, starting with Earth and The Void before they adventure into the unknown. To ensure each world had a friendly welcome, they chose multiple creatures to be their guide, those that closely resembled common friendly animals.

After a year of touring around the globe the humans were back in their groups of 10 at the noir portal, as if looking through a black and white dream. The adrenaline, excitement, curiosity, and lingering fears filled their mind. Nobody was properly prepared for the empty isolating feeling of The Void, the voices in the darkness, walking towards a light that seemed to be right in front of them and constantly moving farther. 100 humans became the first to enter a fully developed void portal. 99 went on to explore new worlds of creation and destruction.
