The Revered

"Suddenly, it happened. We cannot fathom how, but it unfolded before us. Our master, once deemed invincible in battle, succumbed, to a human no less. With his head down he yielded to that demon in human flesh. Where did our lord err, we pondered. Yet, in our limited understanding, he committed no folly. His adversary simply wielded greater strength. And as thus, bested him in combat. Why do we have such fate, a fate of uncertainty, one which is constantly damned at the face of fortune. Why.... ....Why? We have been haunted by humans since the dawn of time why does this pestilent disease plague us? Is it because the humans are blessed with incredible mana. Or perhaps, favor bestowed by the gods? I am clueless, utterly confounded. What are we? Are we condemned to perish by human hands? Perish. Perish. And perish again? The one whom bested the orc chief, our leader, was but a human concealed amidst the plains of Suthur. The resonance of his magical aura repelled monsters from those very plains. And here we stand, displaced and vulnerable, as refugees."
