Prologue: An arise from ashes.

Prologue: An arise from ashes.

It was cold, the air around his body was cold and sharp, the snow pressed against his face didn't let him breathe and his muscles were too weak.

A burning sensation in his flesh and bone was constant, followed by an unbearable pain that made his muscles twitch, he could feel his blood being drained, melting the snow. His breathing started to feel heavy, and then his lungs felt flooded, the copper smell of blood and snow was all around.

He was afraid, it was getting cold beneath him, the blood puddle kept getting larger, for the first time after so many years, he was afraid.

In his hand, he could feel the weight, it was steel, cold and heavy steel, a colt navy revolver from his childhood, gifted by his dad, now being the only thing of his family that he'll hold on to till death.

Something that has saved his life so many times now couldn't save him this final time.

Slowly his eyes started to feel heavy and the vision finally got blurry, it was time for the end and he made a final choice, rejoice from the memories and accept this visceral end.

Suddenly, a chirping sound, something familiar, it reminded him of a time long gone.

His brother was playing with him.

A tear fell down his bloody eye.

The bird kept chirping, and the sun appeared.

A last feel of the sun's warmth...

The bird kept chirping, but it started getting further, echoing, and more distant, the deep visceral pain is gone and his head started spinning, the buzzing in his ears were unbearable until he realized he couldn't move, suddenly he could feel his body slowly being ripped apart, chunks of flesh getting torn into pieces, but it wasn't painful, it felt freeing, and then, when everything was dark, and his head kept being bombarded by the chirping being louder and louder, he fell.

He fell deep, deep down the earth, he couldn't scream, or even move, he was falling indefinitely, until the cold of the snow turned into heat, screaming replaced the bird and now he could feel some rough hands building his body again, placing the limbs back and chaining his soul to his body once again.

In what could've been two seconds, or an eternity, he's now awake again, his eyes were opened and he could see the sky, sky that was a dark red, the air was filled with a burning scent and ashes fell in his face.

Slowly he got up, his body felt, rigid, and his limbs felt like they weren't his, like he was learning to move again, then he looked around, the place was the same as a couple of seconds ago, but it was all burned, the trees had no life, turned into charcoal but still holding up, leaving the meadows full of nature dead bodies, the house where he stayed in, was there, but it seemed, darker.

The red sky made it very hard to see anything that faw away without having to focus, so he moved his legs and tried to stand up, something heavy fell from him, it was the navy revolver, but now, it was shining, the steel now so clean was like a mirror, and then, he could see his reflection.

His eyes, his face, his lips, everything had a layer of skin removed and he had two short horns.

After taking a moment to look at his surrounding, he shook the fear away from him and started heading to the house far away.

His leather boots and clothing made this short travel feel worse, the heat of the place was painful, and the rocks below his feet were boiling his feet too.

After walking and looking around the empty place, he made it into the cabin, and found that this place was pretty much as he has left it, the smell of burnt now is replaced by that old book smell, and in the the entrance he could see his cross, turned upside down.

After grabbing it he felt his hand burn and the pain was too Sharp to hold so he dropped it down, but, he felt an urge to grab it again, so he did, it dropped again but he again grabbed it, and again, and again, until his hand was dripping flesh, but so suddenly he could grab it, and didn't felt the pain anymore, he needed to get this house in shape again, his house.
