Longing for their interaction, wanting to be among the people, to share in the joy and love. For generations it watched longing, suffering in solitude.
One day the creature had worked up the bravery to interact with the people of the village. Upon entering the village the creature was met with confusion, the people had never seen the creature, in their panic they fled into their houses. The creature was amazed by their reactions, it was lost, what had it done to deserve this? It wondered the village looking for anyone to communicate with, it searched for hours until it came upon a crying child. The child’s parents fled in terror trying to escape the creature. The creature reached out its hand and patted the child on the head as it had seen the child’s parents do before. Gently stroking the child’s head the creature attempted to comfort the child. Before long the child had stopped crying. The people of the village watched in terror from their houses expecting the creature to devour the child but instead they were amazed by its compassion. Cautiously the villagers left their houses and approached the creature, to find a loving and compassionate monster.

The villagers had grown to accept the creature as one of their own, but lingering in the back of their minds was a terror. Fearful villagers always watched the creature, waiting for it to cause chaos and bring down destruction to the village, but it never came, more time had past and terror was replaced with a sense of optimism that would be short lived. Some time later a new face had appeared in the village, a traveler from a far way country, unknown to even the traveler he carried a lethal disease that soon would ravage the village and reek havoc on everyone.
A short time after the traveler had arrived in the village a sickness had taken hold of a few residents. Small things like headaches and coughing where the only symptoms in the beginning. The village doctor thought nothing more than a seasonal cold at the most, she only prescribed bed rest for the afflicted, saying it would pass in time without any need of treatment. Soon after more villagers became infected with this unknown sickness. The doctor was baffled by how fast this pathogen had spread, seemingly overnight, the doctor was ill prepared for the amount of infected people. Before long the entire village was infected and the symptoms had gotten worse, what was headaches was now unbearable migraines. With each cough there was blood. Teeth and fingernails began to fall out, along with copious vomiting and diarrhea. With every passing day there was a casualty, and soon the population of the village began to dwindle.

The creature had taken notice that the village had fallen ill. The creature had tried its best to help the villagers in whatever way it could. Tending to the crop, fetching water for the sick, berrying the deceased, whatever it could do to help. All of its efforts seemed to be in vain, the village was still suffering and there was a noticeable hostility toward the creature.
Panic consumed the village, before long tensions rose between the people of the village. In the panic the people wondered why they had been forsaken. What had they done to deserve this? Who would have done this to them? A mist the panic an idea had come, this disaster had only started once the creature came into the village. Yes, it was all so clear now, this was the creatures true intent, to lure the villagers in with compassion only to destroy them all. With no time to spare all able men and women armed themselves with anything they thought would chase the creature away. With an angry mob formed they began to march on the creature.
Without warning the villagers began to attack the creature. Confusion had swept over the creature, what had it done wrong? Where its efforts to help not enough to please the villagers? Before long the creature was encircled, a rock hit the creature in the head causing black blood to flow from its eyes clouding its vision. Soon there was pain on all sides as the villagers viciously attacked the creature drawing blood from every limb. The creature plowed through some of the villagers in order to make an escape into the woods. With almost no visual premise the creature ran into tree after tree causing more harm to itself. The creature could hear the villagers chasing it, the angry mob grew ever closer. With a brief moment before the villagers caught up to it the creature cleared the blood from its eyes and began to limp to the direction of its abyss. With only moments to spare the creature had made it to the hole from whence it came and began to climb down, but not soon enough to escape the villagers.
With the creature trapped in its own abyss the villagers began to throw kindling into the hole only to be followed by oil. Now drenched in oil the creature could only watch helplessly as the villagers stood above with a torch staring down. No words could capture the expression of terror on the creatures face as they threw the torch down into the abyss igniting the creature. The creatures shrieks could be heard from miles away, rattling the village to the core. They had set ablaze a being of peace and love with no remorse. No sorrow would be felt for the creature as it burned in agony, its cries where the stuff of nightmares. With its final cry it send a bone rattling through chill through the wood only to followed my an overbearing silence.
With the deed over the villagers had left satisfied with their work, content that the village was saved from the illness. Only to find that sickness didn’t leave. With no one to tend to the crops or fetch water the village fell into despair, starvation had overtaken the village. The people of the village had fallen beyond salvation. As the villagers starved there was a mass hysteria only to be followed by the eminent death of all. With no remorse for what they had done the villagers had perished with their pride intact for they cruelty they committed.
