To adapt

means to survive (2)

I am in a cave, from the smell it seems someone else is living here. I attempt to survey my surrounding while still on my back, slowly moving my arms and legs trying to ascertain how much strength have I gained. The least I need now is a broken nose or a missing tooth.

There are no bats, “Well, that was rather obvious”. From the edge of my current rested self's vantage point, I could see the remains of what I assume to be some fruits leftovers, which is a good thing to know, there is no bones remains either, if my assumption is correct then the occupant of this cave might be some breed of herbivores.

Though I have to say, caution is also a virtue, after all, I can’t see the entire place this way.

The smell is absolutely intense, I could swear I am hearing the sound of flies buzzing and doing other foul stuff, it’s close.

I try to lean my head over so slightly as to see the other half of the cave, probably where I will be finding the exit.

"safety and precautions, Oh .. ...that shit is big .."

I couldn't help raising my voice.

Whoever takes this cave as their place is over five times my size just judging from the oversized shit, such that a kid my size can hide in if squeezed enough! and I can't reason with it because no sentient being will make a toilet of the place they eat and sleep in! that wasn't all, what I saw next made the hair on my body stand up, no! I damn stood up myself which led to spotting my exit, without delay I broke into a sprint.

Stolen story; please report.

“When the thing comes back I must as far as one can get”

The cave was large, fitly for a grand animal. Due to the fact that I woke up near the exit, it took a handful of seconds for me to reach the light shining at the end of the tunnel, literally so, because I couldn't see much with that one blinding me. I was so conscious of my steps, afraid to fall and be caught on a situation where I raise only to discover two slits eyeing me up and down at the exit, eventually I tumbled over and fell on the tough cave floor.

Questioning whether I should look up, except my thoughts were stolen by that which appeared to be somewhat of more importance. The hot winds that were blowing against my face suggested that this wasn't the kind of place I assumed it to be.

"This was supposed to be lower grounds right ?”

Wrong

Where was the exit was a dead end, a cliff, I was lucky. Who knew what would have happened had I not tripped.

I was too put off. One thing for sure now, the monster can fly, I can't. I am stuck here and it can't get any worse.

*flip flip*

“......bruh, good timing”

I lifted my head to see a huge shadow covering the sun, all I could make up of such a scene was that it had wings and was huge, the other features were impossible to make out. That wasn't the case for him her it tho, dammit ! it switched to a newer gear and was coming faster than I could run!

“I HAVE BEEN SEEN" RUN!

Shit shit shit!? why did I find myself in such a cave?

"Why this of all places !?"

Given how hard the feathered creature was beating its wings it's highly not likely it would let me off the hook on this occasion.

I have examined how high the cliff is and it's impossible to do the jump unless my bones get stronger somehow amidst the fall, as if anyone would fall for that, I have heeded what can befall my skull in this world by tripping like I previously did, If I jump now with no assurance of survival my fate would be sealed.

Oh, and if I had sufficient time to reflect on all of this then sure enough I was already in the very same spot I woke up in, I was facing that big dung.

*shling shling * those were it claws crashing upon the cliff ready to lodge in, IT CAME.

I gazed at the pile in front of me, and without a measure of hesitation, dug in.
