Re:Origin - The Final Loop Begins
Collision of Destinies

Collision of Destinies

Kael blinked as the forest around him warped, the vibrant greens of Elderwood melting into an ominous void. The air grew heavy, charged with dark energy that prickled at his skin. A low hum reverberated through the space, as if the world itself was alive and displeased by his presence.

His vision settled on a sprawling citadel made of black stone, its spires piercing the crimson sky. Strange glyphs pulsed along its walls, radiating a malevolent energy that made Kael’s instincts scream of danger.

"Where am I now?" Kael muttered, clutching the Nexus Fragment. Its glow was dim, as though drained by the oppressive environment.

As he stepped forward, the shadows around him twisted unnaturally, forming into humanoid figures with glowing red eyes. They blocked his path, their faceless forms exuding hostility.

"Great," Kael sighed, drawing his sword. "Of course, it wouldn’t be simple."

The shadow figures lunged without warning. Kael dodged the first strike, his blade flashing in an arc of golden light that cleaved one attacker in two. The others followed in quick succession, their movements erratic and unnerving.

Kael’s aura flared, illuminating the darkness as he slashed and weaved through the onslaught. He fought with precision, every movement fluid and calculated, but the shadows seemed endless.

A voice suddenly cut through the chaos, smooth and commanding. "Enough."

The shadows froze mid-attack before dissolving into the ground like mist. Kael turned toward the source, his sword still raised.

A woman stepped forward from the darkness. Her golden hair shimmered like sunlight, and her radiant blue eyes were both familiar and heart-wrenching. She was dressed in celestial armor that glowed faintly, her presence commanding yet warm.

"Kael?" she asked, her voice trembling with disbelief.

Kael’s grip on his sword loosened as recognition struck him like a thunderclap. "Lyra?"

She nodded, a mix of relief and sorrow washing over her features. "It’s really you. I thought you were..."

Her voice faltered, and she closed the distance between them, placing a hand on his chest as if to confirm he was real.

Kael was speechless for a moment, his memories flooding back. The last time he had seen her, she had been struck down by a shadowy figure. Her death had haunted him, a wound that never healed.

"How are you alive?" Kael finally asked, his voice hoarse.

Lyra’s expression hardened. "It’s a long story, but suffice it to say, I didn’t stay dead. Aeon has a way of manipulating even the rules of existence."

At the mention of Aeon, Kael’s aura flared instinctively, his anger boiling to the surface. "He’s behind this, isn’t he? This world, these shadows—it all reeks of his handiwork."

Before Lyra could answer, a sharp laugh echoed through the air, dripping with mockery.

"Ah, the prodigal warrior and the exiled angel reunite. How quaint."

A figure emerged from the darkness—a tall, cloaked man with piercing silver eyes that seemed to see through everything. His presence was suffocating, a void that devoured the light around him.

Kael tensed, his sword raised. "Who the hell are you?"

The man smirked. "Xenith Umbra, at your service. Or perhaps not. Depends on how amusing you prove to be."

Lyra’s expression darkened. "Xenith," she said through gritted teeth. "What are you doing here?"

"Same as you, dear Lyra," Xenith replied smoothly. "Keeping an eye on our guest. Though, unlike you, I’m less inclined to offer a warm welcome."

Kael stepped forward, his golden aura flaring. "If you’re with Aeon, then we have nothing to talk about."

Xenith chuckled, the sound cold and unnerving. "Oh, I’m not with Aeon. But I’m not against him, either. Let’s just say I find this game of his... entertaining."

Kael’s eyes narrowed. "Game?"

"Don’t bother," Lyra interjected, stepping beside Kael. "Xenith thrives on chaos. He’ll twist your words and your thoughts if you let him."

Xenith shrugged, an amused smile playing on his lips. "Such harsh words, Lyra. But accurate enough."

Kael ignored him, turning to Lyra. "Why are you here? What is this place?"

"This is Aeon’s domain," Lyra explained. "A pocket world he controls entirely. He brought me here after... after what happened."

Kael’s fists clenched. "And you stayed?"

"I didn’t have a choice," Lyra said, her voice filled with bitterness. "He bound me here, using my connection to the Blade of Eternity against me. I’ve been fighting to escape ever since."

Kael’s gaze softened, and he placed a hand on her shoulder. "We’ll find a way out. Together."

Xenith snorted. "Touching. Truly. But don’t be so quick to play the hero, Kael. Aeon isn’t someone you can simply fight and defeat. He’s beyond your comprehension."

Kael turned to him, his golden aura blazing. "Then I’ll become stronger. I don’t care how long it takes or what I have to do."

Xenith’s smile widened. "Ambitious. I like that. Very well, Kael Zephyrion. I’ll be watching. Don’t disappoint me."

With that, Xenith dissolved into the shadows, leaving Kael and Lyra alone.

Kael took a deep breath, his resolve hardening. "First things first," he said, looking at Lyra. "We need to figure out how to break Aeon’s hold on you. And then, we’re taking the fight to him."

Lyra nodded, her determination matching his. "Agreed. But be careful, Kael. Aeon doesn’t just manipulate worlds—he manipulates people. He’ll twist everything you care about to break you."

Kael’s grip tightened on his sword. "Let him try. I’ve been broken before. This time, I’ll make sure he’s the one who shatters."

As they began to strategize, Kael couldn’t shake the feeling that this was only the beginning of a much larger battle. Aeon’s world was vast and filled with unknown dangers, but with Lyra by his side, he felt a glimmer of hope.

And hope, he knew, was the most dangerous weapon of all.
