This is not a chapter, rather a note.
As I've been editing volume one for the past few weeks or so, I realized there were too many parts I found lacking. Vague details, misconstrued ideas, and poor character implementation to name a few. The overall story has many poor spots that require explanation that I did not include.
The main thing I want to try to fix is logic flaws in the MC. What you guys call stupid I see as flaws in the story's logic and a lack of omniscience on the MC's part. While I can't do anything about what the MC sees, I want to fix the logic flaws. For instance, when the MC enters Abria, it is pretty idiotic that he goes down to greet strangers camped in the woods. Scenes like that need to be fixed.
Volume 1 was 60k words when I posted it. By the time I finish editing, it will be around 100k. I'm not sure it will reach that height, however, I've added 5k to the first three chapters alone which you can check out on FleenyWorks.com
Due to the massive amount of work this will entail, my chapter output will be much slower than normal. Also, writing a war chapter by chapter is impossible because it will lead to a choppy flow and abrupt happenstances.
So, my plan is to release the last one or two chapters of arc one in the following weeks and work on editing volume 1 to completion before releasing an edited, fully updated, volume 2 sometime in september.
I'm not going away or stopping the story. I'm just trying to make a better story which requires a better foundation than the one I wrote.
This book is hosted on another platform. Read the official version and support the author's work.
One other reason I am hesitant to write volume two before editing volume 1 is that I believe many parts of volume 1 will change. Already, in the first few chapters I put on my site you can see some of the alterations I made. While they are small, the will provide a larger impact on the back end.
One such instance is Ryan Knight's point of view. Some of you have been asking about a look in the real world during the story which I never found a spot for. In the editing phase, I added his character to show that viewpoint and to add some background to how Asur came about which, I hope, will give the story a more general progression line, than the episodic one I was on.
One last item. A few of you asked about a character index/wiki. I don't have the time to create one right now with everything going on. But, if one of you wants to start one for me, which I could edit later, I will put it on my site when finished.
As previously stated, I will write the last few chapters of arc one while working on volume 1. When I finish editing volume 1, I will write volume 2 and dump it enmass here and on my site.
One last thing before I end the note. Aspirer, Author of Aevitas, I Am Not An NPC, agreed to join my site and post an edited version of his work when the site is up and running.
Thanks for listening,
