Centuries ago magic thrived in Altia. 100 Grandiose kingdoms formed around powerful archmagi that could connect to very ley lines that flowed through each land. Their boundaries were defined by the sets of lines and there was little conflict between each land. Each Archmage tended to his kingdom: teaching magic, inventing very “helpful” creations, and occasionally meditating for decades at a time, all while leaving minor matters like laws and maintenance to a king.
But, like all good things, this “Golden Age” of Altia had to eventually end. Warlocks, fueled by demonic magic from the netherrealm, began to corrupt the ley lines. Using the power of the corrupt ley lines, they built a portal for their masters to come through, all while the Archmagi were slowly driven insane by the demonic power flowing through them. With the last vestiges of their sanity, they sacrificed themselves, turning into pure magical energy and flowing back into the ley lines: purging the corruption, killing the warlocks, and sealing away the Demons.
Having kept the secret of how to bond to the lines to themselves, no mage could take their place and maintain the grand enchantments that protected and powered each city with energy directly from the lines. As the enchantments began to fail, kings took control. They rebuilt the free society into a feudal state, sending vast numbers of citizens out to farm and work for the first time in their lives.
Many lands had revolts. Through the power of their remaining magi, their nobility held on, quelling the revolts. However, these were just the beginning of what was to come. No longer limited by the shape of the ley lines, many large kingdoms began to turn their eyes toward their neighbour’s lands. For the first time in recorded history, wars were fought.

Centuries of strife and turmoil followed and the Golden Age faded from the minds of men. Only a few remnants stayed behind. Cultural quirks, rare relics, and of course the 101st true Archmage of Altia Tritan. Not bound to any Land or ley lines, he observed the fall of the 100 True Magi with indifference and returned to his studies.
But now, the seal is weakening. Warlocks are once again appearing in the kingdoms as the Demons begin to whisper into mortal ears. The forces of chaos and destruction are once more growing in strength and all of Altia must stand against them...

Hello my fellow penguins! This chapter serves more as a foreword to the book. The true chapters of the book will be 3-4 times longer and released about once every 2-3 days on weekdays, and once every day on weekends. The first should appear about 3 hours from this post. If not expect it 20 hours from now. The story will be pretty action based and (hopefully :D) have some comedic aspects. Suggestions are welcome and I’ll read as many comments as I can. If you do end up reviewing or rating please leave a comment on what needs improvement and what I’m doing right. I’ll gladly take it into consideration :D.
