Chapter 6 - Um'ra

Chapter 6 - Um'ra

When Relis’ senses returned it saw an unfamiliar scene in front of it. A wide lush green forest stretched out as far it could. Every imaginary shade of green was visible on top of the trees and the grass. It was a scenery Reli could not have thought of even if it wanted to. The wind played with the crowns of the trees, letting them lightly sway in the rhythm of birds chirping. A blue sky with white fluffy clouds moving slowly over the forest threw shades on the ground beneath them and a bright sun gifted warmth to everyone.

What played out in front of Reli was the complete opposite of what it knew from Aver. Here it was just filled to the brim with life. While Aver was barren and cold, here it was lush and warm.

Suddenly his field of view shifted and Reli fell into the grass laying on its back. It was a comfortable feeling. Its whole body felt the grass and earth beneath it. The warm and gentle touch of life made it feel at home. It felt so natural that Reli even forgot for a moment that it was not its own decision to lay on its back and only realized so when its hand reached out towards a particularly fluffy cloud and pointed at it. This hand was nothing like its gooey gray body it knew. It was a well-defined hand, delicate even. Its skin was a light purple with white long nails.

Surprised by its own hand it would have jumped up if it could have done so when it heard a voice coming from itself.

“It seems as if this will be a wonderful day today,” a resolute, yet quite charming female voice came from itself.

“It certainly seems so, my lady,” an old frail male voice answered.

“Tell me again how we will proceed, Haoc,” the voice demanded to know nonchalantly.

“As my lady demanded, we will proceed at the fourth stroke of the clock with the union of my Lady Um’ra and the Prince of Humankin Sir Swerhousen. This will mark not only the union of my Lady herself, it will as well mark the unification of Demons and Humans into one united kingdom, which your father, the mighty King Fell, wanted to achieve for so long. A peaceful unity of every species. For that, we will need to put on your dress crafted by the most skilled tailors of both. Which, and my Lady should be aware of this fact, would need to happen soon,” the male urged.

Reli did not understand what this meant at all. It was out of control, only able to watch what unfolded in front of it. Forced inside the Body of what seemed to be the Demon Queen Um’ra, unable to move or make a sound.

Um’ras head tilted back, revealing the source of the male voice.

It was, like the voice suggested an old and slim male, dressed in a black suite which made him look rather frail. His long white hair was bound to a tail that almost reached the earth. His fallen-in, red eyes were framed by some simple, yet elegant glasses. In one hand Haoc held a cane, helping him to keep his balance in the other it held an umbrella giving himself shade.

“I do burden you very much, do I not?” Um’ra asked with concern in her voice. “You must be uncomfortable outside in the sun.”

“Thanks to this umbrella her majesty, the Princess gifted me, I am able to serve you even under the sun,” Haoc replied with a smile and a slight bow.

*“*This makes me happy, Haoc. Thank you for being by my side. You have always been my closest aid,” the Princess answered, her voice filled with gentle care for her servant.

“I am not worthy of this praise, my Lady,” said the servant as he bowed even deeper.

Reli could feel the trust Um’ra had for her servant. It was an unbreakable bond forged by many years spend closely. It was something it had not felt before.

“So tell me a little about my future husband. I guess you already investigated him, am I right?” the future Demon Queen wanted to know.

“Of course, your majesty. Sir Phillipe Swerhousen is the first son of King Raphael Swerhousen. He is said to be rather skilled with his swordplay, even winning last year's competition. Although my sources cite it to be a rather plain and strict competition, it is of a high level. He seems to genuinely care for his people, even founding orphanages for children in need all around their kingdom,” Haoc began to summarize his report, “He is a vivid advocate for peace between our kingdoms, much like your father and the driving force behind this marriage as King Swerhousen will abdicate in the following months after the marriage, making way to a united reign of my Lady and her future husband.”

“He sounds too good to be true, doesn’t he? Found any dirt?”

“Not much my Lady, to be honest. He likes to gamble, but only his own fortune he had earned as an adventurer. Of course, he has killed many of our own in the process, but as this union is aimed to smoothen the animosity between each other, that much is a given and can be excused. He does not seem to search the company of the other gender, or the same gender for that matter, even thought he has no shortage of suitors,” the servant concluded.

Slowly Um’ra stood up, taking one last look over the forest, taking the landscape in and sighted. Then she turned around and faced her servant again. In comparison to Um’ra, Haoc seemed to be a few heads higher than her as she needed to look up to look him into his eyes.

“Will you stay by my side as I will begin my new life here?” she asked sounding unsure of the answer.

“There would be nothing else in this world, that would please this humble servant more than to be allowed to continue serving my Lady,” Haoc answered.

"Then so be it. I look forward to exploring the Human realm together with you,” Um’ra said as she moved past her servant and moved towards the top of the hill that had been behind them.

If Reli could have screamed out in surprise, it would have done so. In front of it or rather Um’ras eyes was a giant castle surrounded by uncountable houses and streets. The magnificent castle made out of stone was a sight to behold. Its towers pierced into the sky, connected by bridges and walls, topped by flags greeted the eye. For some unknown reason, Reli know that the flags that were flown were the flags of the two kingdoms. A silver sword and shield in front of a blue ground symbolized the Human kingdom Prim and a golden claw with red drops in front of a black ground symbolized the Demon kingdom Aver. There was a third flag as well with a golden sword and claw on white ground. This flag stood for the soon-united kingdom of Primaver.

But Reli did not have much time to take in what it saw as the body of Um’ra continued to move towards a waiting coach and stepped into it.
