Chapter Prologue: First Death

Author: Lorkimith

Life is pointless, at least I believe mine is. Everyday I do the same things the same way I did them the day before for the past 17 years, wake up, go to school, come home, and sleep, always tired when I wake up and always tired when I come home so I lie in bed for hours waiting to sleep and when I do I only wake up the next day and want to do nothing but sleep. On the weekends I end up sleeping all day long so I don't even have time to catch up on the anime, manga, or grind those levels that I still need to grind on the one MMO I haven't played in weeks.

At one point while I was at school staring out the window fantasizing as I usually do when I'm bored out of my mind, it was while I was doing this one day that it hit me, what exactly am I in this world? Nothing, that's all that came to mind, I have no friends, my only family is my mother and she can't wait to get rid of me, and I've never had a girlfriend, not that I have no interest in women, I have plenty of interest, just not in any of the women I've ever met. So it was then that I came I have and am nothing in this world, who would cry for me if I died? No one. That day after school as I walking back home fantasizing as I did while on my 20 minute walk that I noticed a woman walking in front of me.

'Huh, that's the fifth person this month.'

Since I walk everyday and end up having nothing to do I end up counting how many people I see on the path that I walk to and from school. I was still off in my fantasies when I noticed she had stepped off the side walk to cross the street.

'Can you really not wait to get to the crosswalk? I swear one of these days I'm going to see someone do that and get hit by a-'

It was at this moment while I was watching her cross the street that I saw a car speeding forward and her walking directly into it's path.

'You're kidding right? There's no way...'

As I stopped and watched this I only confirmed that it was going to happen, she was going to get hit by the car. I had judged by the speed of the car that if I was going to do something it had to be now, so I bravely stepped off the curb to-

Stolen novel; please report.

*hooooooooooonk*

I heard what sounded like a horn from a big truck.

'No, it can't be.'

I saw her turn her head toward the noise and it was then she noticed the car coming towards her and stopped. When I turned to look at what she had looked at I saw it, a huge 18-wheeler. If I had bothered to look both ways before crossing the street I might have noticed it, but I just stepped out without thinking and this is my reward. It around the second it took to hit me the only thing I could manage to say was-

"Oh..."

That one second felt like an entire minute as the truck came closer and closer my vision went white from the headlights and then it finally hit me, at the initial impact I felt the wind get knocked out of my lungs and I heard the snapping and cracking of my bones most likely being shattered, lets not forget the sudden burst of intense pain, it was the worst I had felt in my entire life and at the end of it all my head was smashed into the ground and my entire vision went white.

'Wait, white? Isn't supposed to turn black or something?'

'Am I dead? but I'm still thinking right, so I'm still alive?'

It took a few seconds for my eyes to adjust to the bright light around me, and all I saw was a white void in all directions.

'Great, I'm naked, I guess I really am dead then. Am I in some sort a waiting queue to go to hell? I can't possibly be going to heaven can I?'

"Ehm, hello?"

*ding*

Suddenly a semi-transparent glass-like plate popped up in front of my face.
