“So, any chance I can get some more soup?” Cain asked again after he didn’t get an answer for a whole minute.
“How are you so powerful?” The Innkeeper asked, almost suspicious of him.
“Don’t know,” Cain said rubbing his neck nervously, he’s never liked being asked about his power because he doesn’t like lying. “I guess I’m just blessed with greatness. That sounds arrogant doesn’t it? I’m not really that great, I’m just a regular guy who doesn’t like creeps, nothing suspicious about me,” Cain laughed as he said this.
“Young man, you’re beyond blessed for greatness. Even those chosen by the Gods can’t use such magic and physical prowess as easily as you just demonstrated,” A man sitting next to the woman that was held hostage said.
He had a receding hairline, dark spots on is face that showed his elderly status, a bunch of teeth missing and ears that seemed almost pointy. He wore fine clothes that were clearly expensive. As Cain looked, he realised that everyone with the man wore clothes that no normal people could afford, he began to wonder if they were nobles.
“Maybe, I’ve never met someone chosen by the Gods, so I wouldn’t know. Anyway, if you’ll excuse me, I’m rather tired, so I’ll be going to sleep for the night now,” Cain said before turning to the innkeeper, “Hey, if you want to thank me when you’ve calmed down, I’ll take a free bowl of soup. Have it brought to my room ASAP,” Cain said before he walked away from everyone.
As he got to the stairs, he could feel something tugging on his pants, trying to get his attention. When he turned, he saw a young boy, no older than 5, reach up with a silver coin in his hand.
“Thank you for saving my big sis sis,” The boy said with genuine gratitude in his voice.
Cain smiled at the boy before kneeling down, “Is that your pocket money?”
The boy nodded.
Cain then reached the boys hand and closed it, making sure the boy kept the money.
“Keep it, I didn’t save your sister because I expected something. I did it because those were bad men who ruined my meal and threatened to hurt everyone in here. When you do something to help others, you should never expect something in return, otherwise, what you did becomes selfish, not good.”
After saying this, Cain stood back up and walked to his room, roughing the boys hair playfully before leaving.
“He’s wise for one so young,” The elderly man said as he picked up the boy. Little did he know, with his previous life, Cain was actually 130 years old, living to 112 in his first life.
As Cain reached his room, he examined the place for the first time. It had a large bed that was clearly made for those visiting nobles, a desk at the side with a chair that had an expensive looking cushion stitched to it, a large wardrobe and a view that showed the lights of Deumiom in the distance, in case the nobles got home sick.

“Well, that’s what 2 silver gets you, quite expensive for a simple inn, but given they get nobles, there’s no surprise that they’d increase the prices of certain rooms.”
Cain decided to test the bed, he’d heard that noble men would sometimes come here with less than honourable women while on the road, and the screams of the men could be heard far and wide. It was comfortable enough to fall asleep on instantly, and he likely would have if he was thinking about the girl who was just taken hostage.
‘It’s weird, I could swear that I could feel some type of power from her, but it wasn’t mana or Ki. Was she wearing some type of magical item? If so, it must be one that couldn’t be used lightly, because the amount of power coming from her was enough to handle all those bandits, and then some.
Oh well, it’s not like she’s a threat, I could take her down easily. Okay then, time to check the old status panel. Status open,’ Henrik commanded with a thought as a red transparent screen appeared in front of him.

‘As I said, completely overpowered. My buffs especially, with them, I’m unstoppable. Even boundless entities are nothing but insects to me. Luckily though, I want to live a normal life, so I’ll have to beat that Instant Death bastard another time.
Okay, I should get some rest. If they were gonna give me free soup, I’d have gotten it by now, or at least a response from them. Oh well, that’s what I get for saving lives, no soup. I should reach the capital tomorrow, and the entrance exam is tomorrow night, so I need to decide exactly what I’m gonna do,’ Cain thought as he began to drift asleep.
While most people would probably be too panicked about what just happened to sleep, Cain was beyond concepts, so if anyone tried to kill him, they’d be met with a nasty surprise. As he drifted into his sleep, he appeared in a castle like structure, the same he’d appeared in every night since reincarnating.
In there, he saw a young, petite girl sitting on a small throne, reading a book.
“Cain, you’re back. Is it night time already?” She asked as she stood up and walked over to him, bowing her head as she got near him.
“Ahh, Gabriella. Did you manage to track down the dragon?”
“Yes, it’s currently moving north from the southern empire. It will arrive in the capital in a few weeks. Are you sure you should kill it? It’s a force of nature that exists to ensure Bradir doesn’t grow too much.”
“My little angel, of course I’m sure. As far as I’m aware, this being is among the most powerful entities there is, I want to test my strength against it. Plus, Bradir growing too big isn’t a bad thing. The landscape is infinite, yet civilisation stays in one tiny corner because of the big bad monsters.
When I kill the dragon, it will show all of Bradir that we can win, and then I can form my adventuring party and we can explore the new world.”
“And you’ll make me a body finally?” Gabriella asked with excitement in her voice.
“Of course. I intend to make you my vice captain. My first mate. With an archangel on our side, we’re guaranteed to become the greatest adventurers in the world.”
