That fall should have killed me but for some reason it didn't, a fact that pressed my mind as I scampered through the dense forest around me. Though they were very far away for some reason I had a feeling that those three enemies of mine where still tailing me.
The main goal I had was to lose them, I had to if I wanted to survive. Luckily for me an opportunity was quickly upon me to do so. It was also at that same moment when I came to realize that I wasn't on a different planet, it was still earth, the same old earth that I grew to hate.
If I had to pinpoint the exact location I was at, I had to say it was somewhere on the upper half of the american east coast. I was likely near the metropolitan area, because what else could explain the vast amount of light pollution in the sky.
I pressed on, scampering up a small wooded incline that led to a picketed white fence probably for someone's backyard. It was easy to clear with a single leap, something that shouldn't have been possible for someone my size , but I was grateful regardless. It gave me the chance to have a quick look of my surroundings.
I was in the suburbs, wonderful. It was the best thing to ask for. The last place I wanted to end up in was on the bad side of town. I pawed at the ground as I sniffed the air. It was too quiet even for a suburb. The tingling on the back of my neck was starting to become unbearable, it was like it was trying to get me to leave.
Leave...You need to leave now.
Why? What was it trying to tell me.
Find it...Find him...the one who will make you whole.
...
That wasn't creepy at all. A chill ran up my spine at the disembodied words. Every part of me wanted to disregard them but for some stupid reason they seemed...they seemed so right.
It was at that point that I made an effort to truly focus on what was around me and use my brain.
Something was missing inside the blades of grass, the bristeling leaves, the trunks of the trees. In my mind I knew that they were alive, but my heart denied their entire existence. For some reason deep inside of me I despised the fact that everything around me was alive.
It was because that they shouldn't be, that it shouldn't be possible. It reminded me of the time that I was drifting through the void in death, wishing and hoping for light.
Light.
Was that what I was supposed to be looking for?
To your right!
I was snapped out of my thoughts as I jumped forward, right as something stuck itself in my previous position. I spun around and to my shock, a sword bleeding blue energy shone dangerously at me.
"A -A sword?!" I stammered. "A power sword?!" Just what was this earth?

Fear filled me soon after. I still wasn't safe and those people would be here to kill me. I had to run, and that's what I did.
I broke off into a sprint, rounding the left corner of the house and into the front yard. I could hear my assailants barking off orders to each other behind me and I gritted my teeth as I leapt over the fence again and onto the street.
Straight ahead and too the right!
The voice early gave me a heart attack, but I was thankful for the directions. I had no idea what was going on at that point and I needed any help I could get. I just never thought that it would come from myself.
I ran down the main road of this neighborhood and as I neared the exit, a person shining bright with aura appeared before me. I felt no warmth from him, all I felt was malice.
"Die beast!" He roared, ripping out an L shaped object from his person. I could only gawk in terror.
A gun?!
Shield!
I clenched my eyes shut, not understanding what the voice meant when the gun went off. I waited in silence, waiting for a piercing pain that would never come. It took some courage to open my eyes but when I finally did I could only stare in shock.
Somehow I managed to get a spectral shield, spiraling with runes, to project in front of me. It took the brunt of the blow if the cracks on the front of it said anything. At that moment I deduced that it probably couldn't handle another shot.
"Impossible..." The man was mystified, allowing me my chance to escape.
----------------------------------------
"What the hell Bradford! You just let it escape!"
Bradford had not moved from his spot. He continued to stare blankly at where the beast scampered off to, not caring even when his subordinate was in his face. Michel had grabbed him by the collar of his uniform, a serious breach of their code of conduct, but at that point Bradford didn't care.
"Hey! Are you even listening to me?!"
"We have to go back to the base."
Michel stared at his leader as if he sprouted three heads. "Are you insane?! Of all people you should know what the command will do if-"
"They will listen to me Michel," Bradford tersed. "They have to, if they knew what was good for them." He pried Michel's hands off of him, eyes still staring off into the distance.
The beast was weak, Bradford was sure of that. It was barely able to conjure a proper shield to protect itself, but the magic it used told a different story. His hands clenched into tight fists.
Bradford was old, older than most of his kind combined, and with that age came knowledge. The magical aura that beast had reminded him someone no- something. And if it was what Bradford thought it was...
Then their whole society was in great danger.

I had lost them, which was great, but I still had no idea where I was going. The voice's directions were sending me through every back and side street known to man, and I just wanted it all to end.
I was tired and in a desperate need for a nap.
"Are we there yet?!" I panted.
Soon...stay strong and keep going.
I didn't know how much longer I could take but the encouragement was enough to keep my spirits up. Thankfully it all quickly checked out.
I felt it. It was like a beacon, a feeling that called out for me to come home, and I followed gladly. Like a moth to a flame I was transfixed, trotting down another quiet street when I finally saw it.
The light.
It was bright, brighter than the light produced from my assailants, and far more beautiful. It pulsed in a steady rhythm and I almost lost myself to the beat but I knew I couldn't let myself go, not yet. I knew I had to get closer.
The beacon of light came from the right side of a two family family house, a window on the side of the second floor. It was the only thing separating me from the bedroom of the one I needed to get closer too. The one I was fated to protect with my life.
Master.
...
Hold on a second.
...
WHAT THE HELL?!
