Chapter - 24

(POV Ziella)

Why was I summoned? We were only defending the world and she was trespassing anyway. Hopefully, this won’t take too long I don’t want to be away from my sisters for too long. I hurry down the corridor to the courtroom to wait for my trial. Once the doors come into view a see that a man is standing outside. He is tall with short black hair and wearing a suit.

“Hello Axdis thank you for coming to help me.”(Ziella)

“Hello Lady Ziella. I am your friend and a law god of course I would come to help you.”(Axdis)

“I hope this doesn’t take too long. It was her fault anyway.”(Ziella)

“It shouldn’t take too I have spent the last few days preparing a defence.”(Axdis)

“Thank you Axdis. I think it should be starting soon.”(Ziella)

We stood there talking for a few more minutes until the doors start opening and we start walking through them. In the courtroom is a large wooden desk for the defendant in front of a large, raised desk for the arbiter. Behind it is a form that looks vaguely humanoid but is ghostly dark and not solid. It flickers about unpredictably like a black ghostly flame. Sitting next to the arbiter is a man whose job it is to write down everything that happens with his typewriter. To the side of the room is the jury, twelve gods and goddesses chosen to decide if I am innocent or guilty. Supposedly they are chosen randomly but I have always been unsure about that. Too many times has the outcome of a case been how the judge or someone higher up wants it to be. We walk over and stand behind the desk.

“Your honour we are present and ready for the trial.”(Axdis)

“VERY WELL THE COURT IS NOW IN SESSION. THE GODDESS ZIELLA HAS BEEN ACCUSED OF ALLOWING DIVINE INTERFERENCE WITHIN HER WORLD WITHOUT PERMISSION OR A ALLOWABLE REASON. PROSECUTION PRESENT YOUR ARGUMENT.”(Arbiter)

His voice resounds out with echoing distorted chaos. The words don’t sound comprehensible, but they make sense in my mind. A man who I didn’t notice when I came in walked forward with a stack of papers.

“Your honour the goddess Ziella has broken divine law and interfered with the world as well as her three sisters without permission or with a valid reason.”(Prosecutor)

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

“DEFENDANT WHAT DO YOU PLEAD?”(Arbiter)

“I plead innocent your honour..”(Ziella)

“PRESENT YOU DEFENCE.”(Arbiter)

Axdis stands up with his notes.

“Your honour Lady Ziella’s world was assaulted for thousands of years by the chaos goddess Eris. Eris then broke through the established defences attacking the world directly and killing some mortals. Eris was then defeated by Lady Ziella’s sister lady Xyrra. Since the chaos goddess, Eris has been defeated, they have not interfered with the world except for what is allowed by divine law. Lady Ziella and her sisters acted in self-defence to protect the world and its people.”(Axdis)

“You're honour if I may say this is not self-defence as lady Eris did not attack them but the mortals and the world. Even if it is self-defence, they did not use reasonable force. They caused more harm to lady Eris than she did to them.”(prosecutor)

“your honour it was self-defence of the world to keep the balance. She also caused naturally irreversible damage to the world making all plant life extinct and nearly making all animal life extinct. After the mortals have now had to deal with a hoard of undead that they only barely managed to defeat which was caused by Eris’s magic. Eris has harmed the world for thousands of years and damaged it beyond natural repair Lady Ziella and her sisters were only trying to maintain the world's balance and protect it from outside invaders.”(Axdis)

“Your honour this would not have happened if Lady Ziella let Lady Eris in the first place. Lady Eris was only trying to visit a long-time friend therefo-“(Prosecutor)

Before he can finish I interrupt him.

“I AND ERIS ARE NOT FRIENDS. SHE IS A RELENTLESS YANDERE STALKER WHO FOLLOWS ME AROUND PRETENDING TO BE MY FRIEND AND CARE FOR ME. SINCE I MET HER A HUNDRED AND SIXTY-FIVE YEARS AGO I HAVE HAD OVER SEVEN HUNDRED CEASE AND DESIST LETTERS WRITTEN TO HER BY MY LAWYER GOD SIR AXDIS HERE. FOR THE LAST TIME SHE IS NOT MY FRIEND.”(Ziella)

Everyone in the room looks at me in shock except the arbiter who doesn’t have a face. Even the tapping of the typewriter stops for the first time since the trial started.

“IS THIS TRUE LAW GOD SIR AXDIS?”(Arbiter)

“It is your honour. Eris has shown tendencies of being a stalker and a yandere. I have issued her multiple ceases and desist orders and she kept harassing lady Ziella. I informed the yandere constabulary, but they did not do anything about it.”(Axdis)

“I WILL TALK TO THE YANDERE CONSTABULARY ABOUT THIS MATTER. IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE TO ADD?”(Arbiter)

“No your honour.”(Axdis)

“No your honour.”(Prosecutor)

“THE JURY WILL NOW DECIDE ON A VERDICT IN SECRET.”(Arbiter)

A barrier forms around the jury and now we wait for a decision to be made. I have to be innocent, don’t I? I haven’t done anything wrong everything I did was within the law. So why am I so worried? About half an hour later the barrier comes down and one of the jurors steps forward to give their decision.

“We the jury have carefully considered the facts of this case and the arguments put forward and have decided that the goddess lady Ziella is…”(Juror)

Time seems to slow down as he is about to say the word that could affect my entire life and my sisters.

“Guilty.”(Juror)
