Yona was now 8 years old, and it was time for his awakening. He didn't really have any celebrations because he told his mother it was a hassle to have one and he wasn't really fond of it even when he was living on earth, so her mother Claire just accepted it and thought,
"If my son doesn't want it, why would I force it?"
It was time for Yona's awakening, which he was looking forward to. As the phenomenon occurred, her mother and caretaker went to see if everything was okay with him.
His body's constant glow illuminated the room to some extent.
For a minute, his body was engulfed in light and gradually faded
Yona examined his body and was excited to see what kind of unique talent he possessed.
He attempted to test his swordsmanship by swinging a wooden sword in the air, but he saw no difference.
"I guess I didn't get the Swordsmanship talent."
Let me try manipulating my magic as Yona tried the most basic spell in the book, a fireball. He tried casting bigger and bigger but the size didn't grow much and his small mana pool didn't grow either.
"Now I'm wondering what I actually got."
Yona's mother and caretaker were watching him when they noticed his left eye was gradually turning silver.
“Look! Look, Yona!
As the maid exclaimed, she was surprised mostly in talent awakening, because people don't awaken features, so this was new to her, but there were always unique cases like this and most of them didn't really do any good, it was just a sturdier part of the body or enhanced smelling or eyesight that was it.
"It's too bad Yona, it looks like you didn't get what you wanted, but that's okay."
Claire hugged his son.
She knew how excited her son was when he first heard that you can discover your latent talent at the age of eight.
Yona wondered if this wasn't just Heterochromia. I wasn't going to rely on some divinely endowed talent or anything. as Yona suspected
But on the inside, he was sobbing, "Why is it this way?"
“Mother, it's fine, it looks cool, look, maybe my other eye has a bonus, like enhanced vision or something.“
Yona was thinking about what his left silver eye could do when he noticed the nearby knights performing some techniques.
He saw Clay use his special skill on the practice scarescrow, [Falcon charge] applying the element fire to his sword and body and charging to the target, when his skill abruptly stopped and vanished.
When this happened, Yona noticed something on his left eye, and when he looked at the fountain next to his training camp in the mansion's yard, he noticed that his left silver eye had turned red.
Did he just stole Clay's special skill?
Yona attempted to use Clay's special ability with his wooden sword.
[Falcon charge]
It activated and coated his wodden sword with fire as he dashed on the practice target, cutting it instantly.
"Wait, did I just do that? What a powerful skill."
Can it steal skills? That's pretty good, No it's overpowered. It can certainly bridge the gap between me and geniuses, but how do I return it?
This is a problem.
When he saw Clay seriously conversing with his fellow knights, he realized Clay was in trouble because his special skill had been suddenly stolen.
So, what should I do?
He suddenly thought maybe it is one of those special features where you say return.
“Return”
He attempted the special skill, but it appears that it was successful.
It seemed like a split second, but when he said return, there was a red circle on his left pupil, possibly indicating that he had returned the stolen skill.
He was excited because he knew that this skill was truly a game changer. It could certainly compensate for my lack of talent, so i'll keep it as a hidden for the time being.
He told his mother that he wanted a swordsmanship tutor now that he was aware of his talent. After a few days, Count Alea wanted Elaine to learn swordsmanship as well, and she wanted us to be students under one teacher so that we could help push each other to our limits. When Count Alea first saw my left eye, she was shocked, but she said it made me look more charming and unique, and that I shouldn't worry about not having the best latent talent.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
“But because I knew what it was, I just smiled."
When Elain arrived at the mansion, she asked
"What happened to your face?" while rubbing her fingers along my lashes.
"Not this again, you can't be doing this," my heart skipped involuntarily.
He thought inwardly.
"I'm fine," he said, flicking her hand away.
She pouted for a split second before returning to her expressionless face.
And then said, "OK."
"I'm not heartless, Hayst. I know why she did that."
He smiles as he pats her head.
"All right, let's go we don't want to keep him waiting."
Yona and Elaine simply decided that it was better to let the tutor go on either of their mansions rather than going to the tutor.
Because Yona's house was closer, they decided to have the tutor teach him and Elaine at his mansion.
While Elaine and Yona were walking to the training area, they finally saw their teacher.
A tall, intimidating man stands patiently.
"You must be Yona and Elaine, such adorable little girls with a terrifying smile."
Elaine couldn't help but laugh silently as the man said that.
I could tell she was giggling.
I just scoffed and didn't give much thought to what the guy said.
Okay, let us begin. My name is Gustav, and I am a retired captain from the Kingdom's royal forces. I am currently teaching nobles swordsmanship.
Yona thought this guy didn't seem so bad, and he hoped he could learn something here.
He began teaching us as soon as he finished speaking. right now and right here
He taught Elaine and me the fundamentals.
The four fundamentals of being a great Swordman which is:
Cut
Thrust
Measure
Tempo
Every Swordsman must learn this 4 Fundamentals. before picking up techniques and combining skills, as one must say
“A larger sword does not necessarily imply greater strength.
However, a lighter, more controllable sword cuts deeper."
While Yona and Elaine were learning the basics, he and Elaine were told to spar every two or three days, and Elaine would beat him every time he wasn't pissed. He knew that this ice princess was a monster, and even though swordsmanship wasn't her forte, she had almost mastered tempo.
He lost 18 times as they sparred.
He thought
"Why don't I try something, Sir Gustav? Can you show me your perfected tempo? I just want to see what I did wrong."
"Haha, I see, I see Im glad you asked."
Gustav positioned himself, used his sword techniques at the perfect tempo, and performed his sword dance to demonstrate it to Yona.
It was rough and explosive, and as he trusted his sword in one spot, the land exploded.
Making a 2-foot-long line on the ground.
"Am I really capable of doing this? Oh well, I just wanted to try it, so I'll just tell Elaine to get serious as well, so what do I do?"
He remembered the earlier scene and thought to himself,
"[Steal]."
While his teacher was watching Yona think, he noticed that his left eye pupil had turned red.
You! your left eye! it turned red
Oh, Sir Gustav, it's nothing, it's just my latent talent, he just had to scoff at it as if it were nothing to avoid making a big deal out of it.
"His teacher suspected something was up, but he wasn't the type to pry, so he let him be."
Elaine and Yona were preparing for their 19th match at the time.
He had a conversation with Elaine.
"Hey, use your ability, let's get serious, I want to use something as well," she said, knowing that when Yona used this type of tune, he meant business.
“Okay”
As she spoke, her surroundings produced a frosty aura, coating her sword with ice and a white aura.
"Damn she's scary fine, I'll do my best as well, I'll try to put up a fight at the very least."
He activated his eye, and it turned red, similar to the color of the aura used when his teacher demonstrated his perfected tempo swordsmanship
Go! Yona exclaimed
When their wooden swords collide,
He tried testing the waters and tried a head-on straight slash at Elaine's front but was deflected directly with her sword as she did that she tried to ride his flow with an upward slash raising Yona's sword up and directly plunging her sword down trying to break Yona's wooden sword he barely dodged it and when he saw the ground beneath he saw a 1feet hole just by the wind currents of Elaine's frost.
He exclaimed, "It's now or never."
As he said this, he activated his copied move, and when his teacher Gustav saw this, he was perplexed as to how he could do that when he had only recently learned how to use a sword two months ago.
He rushed to Elaine and did the perfected tempo, trusting his sword to Elaine's direction "bam" as the ground exploded.
Elaine smiled and said, "Not bad."
She just scoffed at it as if it were nothing while using her awakening ability to create a solid ice wall she dashed forward and hit Yona's neck frosting his entire body in a single go.
"Ughhh I surrender he knew that he progressed to a certain extent so he was happy as he was slowly starting to lose consciousness he didn't forget to say the word
"[Return]".
To not make his teacher doubt about what his awakened ability.
