Prolauge

Maxwell Gravestone was a great duke of a renowned kingdom, the last one that could withstand the threat of the empire nipping at its borders. The Great Kingdom of Enphaebel was wedged between the empire and the last free nations of the Visara Continent. It had generations of prosperity. The name Gravestone rose from rags to the pinnacle of the nation, earning the dukedom through effort and merit, and for a while, it stood as a pinnacle of nobility. Yet, time erodes all things.

The once-celebrated name of Gravestone lost its luster. In the end, it became just another noble name. Commoners respected and feared it, and the poor tried to stay out of their way, never daring to look at their monumental buildings. Then, in the year 1876, on the august white moon of the third harvest, a young lord was born, sharing a birthday with the day his mother died. Without her love and under the strict teachings of his father, he grew up to be the kingdom's greatest villain.

He was a soul that would lead the great kingdom to ruin—a selfish man who consumed all and gave nothing. He was even a creep who attempted to groom a girl from the family he killed, just to gain more wealth. At least, that was his role in the novel "Love-Love Mysti’s Greatest Adventure!~" [insert hearts here].

The novel was a trashy preteen fantasy romance with mystery and adventure elements. The story follows Mysti, the heroine, as she dealt with the death of her family, the overbearing uncle who took her in, and the mystery of it all. Then come the men—good-looking and gorgeous—surrendering everything they can for Miss Mary Sue, who just so happens to be able to save the kingdom from falling. She uncovers the reason her family was killed, easily discovers all the horrors that the great duke committed, and even creates a perfect union between the kingdom, the empire, and the other free nations—all while blushing between one man and the next. Yay…

And all the wrong in the world belongs to Maxwell Gravestone. The main villain of the novel.

This man was currently in the grand office of his home, the Gracewell Manor. It was well-decorated, not too flashy, and designed for both function and form. Hardly the place for a greedy and materialistic villain to reside. The great duke himself was sitting in the fine leather chair. He was dressed in a simple grey silk button-up shirt and fine, comfortable brown pants. He had a thin smile on his lips as he finished the report. He pushed it to the side and shifted his dull brown hair, cut to his round ears, from his eyes. His blue eyes, the only visible trace of his noble lineage, were lost when he closed them in thought.

The Count of Iristra and his wife were killed in an unfortunate carriage accident, leaving behind their only daughter, Mysti. At 10 years of age, she was far too young to inherit the Iristra title, and discussions about the regency of the county had now begun.

Maxwell clicked his tongue. It was past the point of no return. Until now, all of the great duke's actions had been relatively well-mannered, if not slightly forceful. However, after killing the Iristra’s, he finally crossed a dangerous line. So why on earth had he possessed Maxwell after he gave the order!?

Kyle Smith looked in the mirror on the desk and stared at the reflection of the great duke himself.
