Chapter 1 - New Life and Turf War

When I awake after that eventful meeting with the being called God, I’m met with a strange feeling. Due to just waking 

up my memories of what just transpired are hazy, I seem to remember meeting with a strange light and agreeing to be reincarnated as a tree. Yes! I’m now a tree, I’m so happy that I’ve become a tree they’re just so amazing with them standing tall for centuries before greedy humans cut them down.

Now onto my current situation, I seem to feel part of my body stretching out in multiple directions below me, I can only imagine these are my roots. It feels sort of weird having these roots and this new body as I can’t move it as I would a human body. I can feel my body having nutrients entering it, I believe that this is photosynthesis. Outside my ‘body’ I can also feel another strange unknown energy floating around although I’m not sure what it is at this point.

I can slightly move around my roots however and by using them to probe the area around me I come into contact with other plants there seems to be quite a few of them around although many have quite small root networks. Even though I say that it is not as if I am much larger than them.

‘Oi don’t you know who’s the top tree around here mate’ I think to myself when some plant steps out of line and tries to attack me. Although it pains me to hurt nature I am forced to retaliate against this unruly organism, although it seems quite resilient against my attempts to deprive it of its nutrients. I attempt to block its roots movement using my own, its root network is just not as large as mine, they also seem slower when they move. I encircle the bush with my roots depriving it of nutrients and all that’s left for it is to die. If I could I would’ve cried while killing this bush, it pains me so much to hurt nature, but this plant attacked me first. I successfully drove them off of my turf now I’m sure all the other plants know who’s the boss around here.

While this seemed like a fast paced action film to me I was counting the times when I could photosynthesise and this heroic battle has taken a few weeks. It was truly a slow battle.

During this fight for supremacy I have noticed that I have barely grown in height as a tree which makes me somewhat scared that a fast growing tree might try to deprive me of my sunlight. Apart from that I don’t mind slow growth as a tree as they all have their place. Fast growing, slow growing, large, small they’re all so amazing. Oops I’ve gone off on a tangent about trees again. After successfully destroying that upstart tree I’m stuck about what to do. I have the end goal 

of being the best tree in this world but other than that I’m not sure what my immediate goals should be.

I just continue extending my root network each day and slowly positioning myself so that I can get the best influx of sunlight for my photosynthesis each day. This strange energy which seems to be in the air and ground around me is also irritating me to no end, I’m not sure what it is and I’m fast running out of ideas. I know it’s not water as it’s constantly been there for the past few weeks and I’m sure that this place can’t rain 24/7, also the density of it in the air is much too 

large for it to be water. While thinking this it starts to rain, this is my first experience of rain as a tree.

‘I love rain’ I think excitedly to myself. Right now it’s raining and I must say that the influx of nutrients is amazing it feels like an instant power up.

‘If I don’t grow at least a few centimetres from this I’m not sure what I’ll need.’

‘Damn the rain stopped’ I’m not sure how long it rained for as my sense of time as a tree is shocking. I don’t think it was more than a few hours but I can’t be too sure.
