Stronger. Stronger. I have to get stronger. I have to find out who those goons were working for and exact vengeance on them. I don’t care if I didn’t know them for long, nor do I care that they’re a part of Team Rocket, what I do care about is finding the degenerates that dared to touch my family.
【Greetings. I’m positive you now understand how things work in this world.】
Why did you have to do that?! You’re the one who caused that mess right? Couldn’t you have used a different method to make me understand?
【Correction. I was not the direct cause of this incident since I am unable to modify anything that may lead to a significant backlash to the world. All I did was guide your pursuers towards your location. It was an inevitable encounter so I just sped up the process.】
Even so.... forget it. There’s no point in going further into this conversation. If there’s nothing else you wanna say then just leave me be for now.
【Answer. I will conclude our contact with each other after providing you with some advice as compensation for your troubles. First, you are able to access a special menu that will assist you in your travels and with the lack of fighting capabilities you poses. Second, you may find it interesting to know that there are many ‘theories’ that are indeed a fact in reality. Good luck.】
.....Well it seems I’m on my own for now..... Menu.
In an instant, a game like window screen appears in front of me out of thin air.
[Pokedex]
[Map]
[Store]
Although I did imagine there’d be a pokedex and map, I’m fairly disappointed that there’s no bag to carry my items. In the game it was able to hold everything a person would want to carry, like a dimension storage sort of thing. It’s indeed upsetting but I’m more intrigued by the [Store].
I open up the [Store] and to my surprise there’s almost no poke wares at all, but instead it contained Human Enduring Pill, Human Strengthening Pill, Human Agility Pill, Human Recovery Pill, Master Ball x1, Legendary Map x1 and Roulette x1.
The Legendary Map and Roulette are brought to my attention, they seem to be quite important if I can only purchase one of each. But why a map? It might reveal a secret location that can’t be found, or possibly to some hidden item. Who knows. Then there’s the Roulette which seems to be more of a mystery to me than the map. I just can’t figure out the purpose behind it is.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
I shouldn’t really concern myself over that for now anyway, it costs 100,000 points and I’ve only got 250, probably just as some starting funds Cortana gave me. Well, I’ll deal with that later.
I spend some time to look at the [Pokedex] and [Map] and it seems that just like the game, the map has the same layout and markers for everything, as well as my current coordinates. I’m apparently in the Kanto region near route 22. Soon I’ll be in Viridian City, and Staravia’s probably going to enter the Gym where Giovanni is. As for the Pokedex, it displays all the information I could possibly need, such as the areas I can commonly find them and some general information on their characteristics and evolutions, most of which I know off by heart. I am a hardcore otaku after all. The Pokedex’s registry shows pokemon up to the fourth generation, meaning that the pokemon available only goes up to the Sinnoh region. Is this because I was playing Pokemon Platinum when I died? That’s probably the case.
The menu system seems like it’ll be very useful to me in the future, and it’s probably not going to be used any time soon since I don’t have much points and don’t know how to earn them, though I have some vague ideas. Putting the system aside, Cortana’s second note probably refers to the fan made theories the community made about the pokemon series.
Oh, Cortana’s the super serious mean robot lady voice that dragged me into this world, not that I don’t like it here. I just thought I’d be inconvenient to just say ‘entity’ or ‘you’, so I just decided to call her Cortana, since she sort of reminds me of the A.I. Cortana from Halo.
Anyway, one such famous theory is the ‘Pokemon War’ theory, which states that the lack of middle-aged men in the series is due to a great war between the Kanto and Johto regions. This theory holds a great importance to me right now. In the games there was no mention of the war at all other than from the Vermillion City Gym leader LT. Surge.
The only reason I can think of why no one speaks of it is because the Government placed restrictions on the topic, and if that’s the case then I need to find out the reason why. It’s of utmost importance. It’s crucial. That’s because, I’ve had an epiphany. Out of all the criminal organisations in pokemon, not a single one of them has their members wear formal black suits. The only exceptions to not wearing standard issued uniforms are researchers and higher ranking officers, and I didn’t recognise a single one of those guys in suits.
Bringing it down to one suspect. The Government. All of which does make sense if one thinks about it carefully, and to top it off, the only person who dared to mention the war was LT. Surge. All Gym leaders are presumed to have some social standing with those in the Government since they were obviously established by them, hence why Surge mentioned it so casually in the games.
This means that if I want revenge, then it’d be in my best interest to support Team Rocket after all. Not that I was really against it anyway. Heh, after crying for so long I’m finally starting to cheer up. Who wouldn’t be able to if they were me? I mean, my revenge plan on the Government might as well be equivalent world domination.
It really is, a funny joke.
