Felix Danim, that was his name. The only gift his parents had been able to give him, before he was orphaned. A car crash was all it took to change felix' fate, as well as that of his parents.
Growing up in an orphanage was though, unforgiving almost. If you made too much noise, the caretakers would get mad, and believe me, they hold a grudge. Too little and you would end up starving for attention, like most kids without parents do.
Felix did not care much though. He always wondered if there was something wrong with him, seeing as he chose to go the quiet route. It never bothered him that he was alone, he felt it was for the best.
He found comfort in the fact that he had control over how much he interacted with others and how he lived his life. This would end up biting him in the ass when he started to go to school however. The quiet kids always seem like easy targets.
Because of this Felix would sometimes get teased, then bullied. One day he started a fight with one of the perpetraters. A broken nose and a black eye later, Felix learned that to avoid conflict you have to show you're the toughest kid on the block, first. To be left alone, he would have to fight.

It was like this Felix spent his time in school, year after year. He got a bit of a reputation as a tough kid, and that was that. Unfortunately, one day lady luck, or should I say lady "unluck" felt it was time to remind Felix of how harsh life could be. He was diagnosed with a malignant tumor, otherwise known as cancer. And so a new struggle started.
Year after year, month after month, day after day, Felix would wonder: 'Is this really worth it?' The answer was always 'Yes there has to be a reason all these other people stick around.'
This didn't last. Eventually the answer was 'No, it's not.' in Felix' eyes. With his mental stamina gone, his physical stamina soon followed. After some time, his body collapsed and Felix' pained groans ended.
And yet, before he closed his eyes for the final time, regret came. Regret that he had dissapointed his parents in giving up. Regret that he had never given life a chance. Regret that he was scared of death.
And in that moment Felix swore that if he ever got a second chance, a second chance to live, a second chance to love, hate, fear, hope.... that he would hold onto that spark untill time itself ripped it out of his body. He swore that he would never give up again.
And so he fell asleep, adrift. Onwards, to his next great journey, one that he would see through to the end no matter what.
