Regretful Choices
"I wish I was asleep"

"I wish I was asleep"

In a none specific place within the wilderness,

Two individuals where on the run.

The pattern of their escape would've made no sense to an innocent bystander. It would've looked to anyone as if a bunch of ragged adults were keen on making more of a mess of themselves, in a playful unorderly manner.

Yet, to anyone with a keen eye to details it would've been noticed that something was off about the two, that despite the calm expression both wore on their faces. It would've still betrayed their facade the duration of how long that stoney expression was being kept maintained.

After what would amount to the time it would take a half candle stick to burn, a changed occured and the two stopped on their track.

"What reason did you stop for?" Came the voice of an adult man whose contenance and stature let on some of the responsibility brought on after apoarent recent years of recklessness and tempered ruthlessness. He wore an azure green attire, the icy aura he exuded without turning back would have caused anyone's breath to still.

Behind him stood his quo-escapee, a lean tall person wearing full white. Currently standing tall, hand on the hilt of a scheathed dagger. The confidence he exuded showed lack of indeciviness.

The mysterious air surrounding him was complemented by the ever changing form of his weapon, once a dagger, it changed to different states only to settle on the form of a short sword.

The mysterious now-swordsman kept staring ahead and into the horizon, beyond even the figure of the azure man a distance ahead. As if to convey that the current situation meant nothing in the face of the path and conviction he had envisioned to help pave the way of his journey toward different keypoints that all culiminated to this point.

"... it's simply another crossroad in our respective destinies." Said the white swordsman while adjusting his stance, the air around him changing. The whole surroundings turning quiet. Manic eyes gleaming with readiness to unleash ruthless abandon. At its very depth a glimpse of hatred toward everything that stood on its way almost rushed out to consume all, held simply by the sheer will of its wielder, as if it wasn't yet time.

"You will be felled as many had fallen before" he said, conviction going corporal wearing the mantle of aura he had unleashed.

With that, all thoughts seemed to get erased from the white swordman's mind, as he lunged with an overhead slash to take down the one obscurimg his destiny with a single strike.

All of it aimed at the azure man, no, rather it was whatever that stood at the end of the very beyond of what laid ahead.

The azure man before him has turned into nothing of the companion he scaled mountains with and battled it out against myriad horrors back to back.

"So that's how it turned out at the end. You..."

Conflict stricken, the azure man stood silently, as if reminscing about a past fragmented memory, only for him to shift his secondary hand to his temple, Evidently to supress the pain of the ache brought to him by the entire ordeal they were led to.

It was apparent from the way his body leaned forward that the weight of the choices given to him were heavy. So heavy the nails dug onto his temple has drawn blood.

After two breaths of time a graver change occured, the aura arround the azure man shifted. It chaotically unleashed itself to consume its surroundings. The grass flatened then stood up again, while the ground shattered for it to mend itself back to its original state. Similar changes were forced onto the surrounding, chaos unshackled, as if to reflect the yearning of its owner to change the reality around it.

But then the sizzling aura calmed down, then retracted itself.

The man in azure clothes took a step froward, rose his right arm to welcome the white swordsman lung and slash.

And whispered.

...

"I will bear that burden"
