Hey guys here is my apology chapter. I will start regular releases this Thursday, so in like 2 days Any way Enjoy!
----------------------------------------
Ryu stared in astonishment at the scene before him. Goblins were working efficiently and quickly together. And they displayed a shocking amount of intelligence. They could even talk clearly! The goblins he had met before only screamed single words like human or die and rushed him with no strategy or plan. However these goblins had intelligence and were extremely smart. They utilized strategies and teamwork and formations. These goblins were on a whole other level than the ones in the cave.
However the magical beasts they were fighting were no pushovers either. They were a pack of Bronze Coyotes. Bronze Coyotes were at the Elementary Rank 1-2 Tier, and were one of the most common magical beasts in the world. They were called Bronze Coyotes because their fur was a vibrant tan colour. This was because they had earth attribute and could harden their bodies with their skills. They could also wield small amounts of earth like rocks to attack their foes.
Ryu remembered reading about them in a Hero adventure book. They were one of the first magical beasts that the hero in the book trained against and killed. Seeing these Bronze Coyotes, Ryu wanted to jump in and start attacking just like the hero in the book. But just before he jumped into the fray, Spark pecked Ryu’s head with his beak.
Thock!!!!!
Although the noise was not very loud, the blow made Ryu bend over in pain. Ryu was holding his head and trying to stop the tears from coming out. After a few minutes, Ryu had got himself under control. Ryu looked up at Spark, and said, “Why did you do that!!!!”
Spark just stared at Ryu as if he hadn’t seen a dumber human. As Spark continued to stare at Ryu, Ryu slowly began to understand why Spark had pecked him. Ryu looked gratefully at Spark, “Thanks, Spark for cooling me down. Otherwise I might have rushed in there and been destroyed.”
Ryu had realised that had Spark not pecked him, he might have rushed down there in the heat of the moment and attacked the Bronze Coyotes. And since he hadn’t even formed his Dantian, he would have been killed by the Bronze Coyotes or the goblins. Once he understood this, Ryu thanked Spark and continued to watch over the battle.
The Bronze Coyotes certainly had quantity, the goblins had quality. There were almost 500 Bronze Coyotes against only 50 or so Goblins. However, the Goblins were extremely powerful. They killed many Bronze Coyotes and were slowly retreating as they fought. As the goblins continued to hold off the Bronze Coyotes, a lightly armoured goblin rushed over to the Goblin Soldiers.
The goblin scout shouted, “Captain! The 17th and 18th Squads have secured the villagers and are moving them to safety. We have our orders to retreat. The 16th,19th, and 20th squads will link up at point delta and help us to eliminate these magical beasts.”
The Goblin Captain turned around and shouted at the top of his voice, “Alright Men! We got our orders! 2nd Platoon! Slow Retreat! The 16th, 19th, and 20th squads are gonna help us clear out these mutts! Watch your backs and move slowly while holding off these mangy dogs!”
Having shouted out his orders, the Goblin Captain began to slowly retreat along with his platoon. The Bronze Coyotes continued their assault on the goblins and chased them as the goblins retreated. Ryu watched until both the goblins and Bronze Coyotes had disappeared from sight and then he quickly jumped down.
After taking a quick look around and making sure that nothing was nearby, he quickly moved to the Bronze Coyote corpses. Ryu pulled out his dagger and sliced opened their skulls. Despite the Bronze Coyote being at the Elementary Rank and their skin being extremely strong, Ryu was able to cut it open with his dagger. Ryu had not noticed this since he had never met anything that his dagger could not cut.

In a hurry, Ryu quickly skinned several Bronze Coyotes and cracked open the skulls of the rest. Inside the skulls, Ryu found a small muddy brown crystal. This was the cores of the Bronze Coyotes. Just like how humans establish their Dantians at the Elementary Rank, magical beasts form their cores at the Elementary Rank. Ryu quickly took all the magic cores and was about to leave, but something caught his eye.
Ryu saw the corpses of a few of the goblin soldiers. He hesitated but quickly sprinted over to their corpses and took their weapons, some armour, and their bags. Carrying these on his back, Ryu quickly climbed up the closest tree and fled from the scene. Although Ryu did not know, several magical beasts were drawing close from the smell of blood and they had arrived at the scene shortly afterwards.
Meanwhile Ryu had slowly searched and found a small stream nearby his base. Ryu had used this stream before and he quickly ran through the stream and washed off any traces of blood that might remain. Then after making sure that nothing was following him, he ran off to his base. Once in his base, Ryu dumped all of his loot on the floor and sat down, breathing heavily. Spark hadn’t moved from Ryu’s shoulder and just sat there like nothing was worthy of its attention.
After Ryu recovered, he took out his sword and dagger and looked through the goblin’s weapons. There was 2 short swords, 3 longswords, 1 bow, about 12 arrows, and 6 daggers. Ryu set aside the bow and arrows and began infusing the sword into his sword and the daggers into his dagger. His sword became a bit shorter and a bit broader. It was now about 3 2.5 feet long and about ¼ foot wide. It was quite balanced and fit nicely in Ryu’s hand. The gem in the pommel became slightly lighter but not significantly so. His dagger had become a bit longer and a bit thinner. However the blade was still sharp and strong. The blade was now about 4.5 inches long and 2.5 inches wide. It’s gem also became a bit lighter but not significantly so. Ryu sheathed both his weapons and turned his attention towards the bags he got from the goblins.
There was 6 bags in total. Ryu opened all the bags and tallied up his gains. There was dried rations, about 3 pounds of dried meat and 6 fruits that looked like apples. Next there was the usual metal ingots, about 13 or so. Ryu was puzzled, what were these ingots and why did all the goblins have them? Finding no clue so far, Ryu shelved this question in the back of his mind and turned his attention to the other items. There was vials again but this time they had something in them. Each bag had 2 vials. One had a red blood coloured liquid and the other was a pale blue coloured liquid. Ryu grew excited. He had seen these before with Uncle Doran and the guards.
The red coloured liquid was a healing potion and the blue coloured liquid was a mana potion. Although it was called healing potion, it only stimulated the healing abilities of the cells in the body and stopped bleeding. The mana potion also sped up mana absorption to replenish one’s depleted mana reserves. Neither of the potions worked immediately. However to Ryu this didn’t matter because these two could help give him a higher chance of survival. Quickly pocketing the 6 healing potions and the 6 mana potions into his own bag, Ryu turned to the next items.
The next items were the copper coins. He found about 50 copper coins and Ryu stored these with the ones he already had. Now in total he had about 100 copper coins and 80 metal ingots. The last item Ryu had found were some empty or half full water canteens. Ryu put these aside to wash and reuse. After sorting and packing away all the valuables, Ryu sat down to eat lunch not aware that something similar was happening somewhere North East from his location.
