Chapter 13: Questions

I struggled to open my eyes. It was a feeling that was not unfamiliar to me especially after tough battles back when I was in the JSF. This time however was the worse I have ever felt. I could feel my muscles screaming in pain such that moving even a single inch caused my whole body to be overcome with immense pain.

I looked around and saw that I was in some sort of medical facility. The bed was comfortable and the internal décor of the room was quite neat. I turned my head over to the window and saw the sea.

“I must be back at the academy. But how?”

I tried to recall how I arrived here but the last thing I can remember before losing consciousness was me expending all my energy in the fight with Raikou. Upon remembering the scene, I jolted awake and searched for Shiho.

“Shiho! Where are you!”

I called out but I was met with a judgmental stare from the nurse who was sitting in the room doing her paperwork. She quickly walked over to me and placed her hand on my forehead.

“You are finally awake and the first thing you do is shout at the top of your lungs. If you are worried about the other injured girl, she is fine and recuperating in the room next door.”

The nurse who was dressed in a white one piece dress answered calmly while returning to her table. She then took out a phone from her pocket and started making a call.

Within a few seconds of her ending the call, the door to the room suddenly burst wide open and a few familiar faces emerged. Before I could even react, 2 girls jumped into my bed where I was currently lying down on and hugged me.

“Onii-chan, I am so thankful that you are awake! I can’t believe you! After all that talk about wanting to protect me, you go off and do these reckless things by yourself again.”

Kasumi exclaimed as she was shedding tears of joy. Meanwhile, the other girl who was clad in a floral kimono did not say a word and just hugged me in silence.

“Yuki-san, Kasumi, it is good to be able to see you again.”

As I was being hugged by the 2 girls, I couldn’t help but feel their soft skin pressing onto me through their thin clothing. In addition, they both smelled so good which made it quite a challenge to control my hormones as it would be quite a problem if a bulge started to form in my pants.

Suddenly, I saw a petite girl jump and kicked me in the face with her right leg which gave me a good view of her white panties with black polka dots since she was wearing a black miniskirt. I could even see a cute little white ribbon at the top of her panties which emphasized how good the view was.

I could feel my lower body get a little hotter and I tried to distract myself by thinking of other things before I got too excited. The owner of those polka dotted panties then started chiding me before I could even react.

“You idiot Kazuha, did I not specifically tell you to call us for backup once you found that bastard’s location. Are you deaf or something!? You were literally on the brink of death. Thankfully Yuki was there.”

While I could not quite see her face as I was still lying down underneath her skirt as she stood over me, I recognized that childish voice anywhere. It seems that her choice in underwear was quite childish as well but I guess it somewhat adds to her charm.

“I’m sorry Emiri, it’s just that I thought I could take him on by myself and I did not want any more of you girls to get hurt because of this.”

I tried to salvage the situation and quench her rage but it was of little to no effect as she replied back with a more sinister tone that quite literally sent chills to my spine.

“That’s not the point, you disobeyed a direct command from me which could have killed you and potentially Shiho as well. Besides, it would be wise of you not to underestimate my strength. You were lucky this time that you had another rank 1 student with you to save your ass.”

Emiri replied back which made me realize that the other rank 1 student she was talking about was Yuki. Which meant that she was at the same level as Emiri. I could sense that she was strong but I wasn’t expecting her to be at the same level as Emiri who practically exudes a domineering aura.

“You flatter me too much, Emiri-san. I am no where near the level you are. Kazuha-san was powerful as well and I doubted we would have all survived if it wasn’t for him.”

Yuki replied to Emiri while giving me an innocent stare that pulled on my heartstrings. Her gaze was like that of a damsel in love which I wanted to reciprocate but at this point, I am unsure if I feel the same way towards her. Before she could carry on criticizing me, I decided that I had to let her know that her cute panties were quite literally on full display to me and that it would be quite embarrassing for her if she found out by herself hence I decided to be the gentleman and inform her instead.

“Uhhh Emiri, I think you should stop standing over me on the bed. I think the white and black polka dots suit you a lot but I’m not quite sure where to look.”

Realizing what I was referring to, Emiri’s face turned slightly red and she quickly jumped off the bed and instinctively placed one hand on her skirt while the other was pointing at me aggressively.

“You idiot! You are ten years too early to be peeking at my panties. It seems that you managed to survive an encounter with that bastard but it’s a shame that you will meet your end at my hands.”

Emiri’s aura started to pour out and I could sense the killing intent in her words which made me gulp my saliva. I looked instinctively towards Kasumi for help but she showed me a face full of disdain as well which made me regret telling Emiri in the first place.

“ONII-SAN.., I can’t believe you! Maybe you should have died back there. Sexual harassment is a serious offence that is unforgivable. (Even though I don’t mind showing you my panties too)”

I could not hear the last part Kasumi whispered but he first half was more than enough for me to sense her rage as well. I then turned towards Yuki but she just turned away and pretended like she did not know anything. It seems that both Emiri and Kasumi are so fearful when they are angry that even the students from the other schools know about their prowess.

Before either one of them could “kill” me, the nurse stood up and told the 3 girls in the room in a stern tone to leave immediately as I just woke up from a mini comatose state and I needed to rest as much as possible in order to recover my strength.

Emiri made use of dimension ripper to send Yuki back to her home in the forest while both her and Kasumi also teleported away presumably back to the school building.

A few hours passed of me just staring into space, the nurse eventually left the room and informed me that I would be able to leave the medical facility first thing tomorrow morning to return to the academy if there were no further complications. I thanked her once again for all the help before she left and turned the lights off in the room for me to rest.

I closed my eyes in hopes of falling asleep but a familiar seductive female voice called out to me.

“Kazu-kun, how are you feeling? Would you like me to give you a massage to make you feel better?”

I knew she was just teasing me but I got to admit that a massage from her would feel quite good right now. Furthermore, I could sense the genuine concern in her voice which was quite out of character for her.

“I’m fine Restia. I can’t believe you are genuinely concerned about me. Maybe you are falling for me as well.”

“Don’t push your luck Kazu-kun. I may be an Exceed but I am still a lady so such topics of the heart are quite sensitive ones. More importantly, you do realize that we share a contract right which means that if your physical body dies, this iteration of me will also cease to exist and to be honest, I quite like this life hence your wellbeing is of utmost importance to me.”

Restia stated matter-of-factly but I could tell that she was expressing concern for me in her own way as well hence I did not press further on the topic.

“By the way Kazu-kun, does the name Mizuki ring any bells to you?”

I thought about the name long and hard but nothing came to mind. I simply had not heard that name before in my life.

“No it doesn’t sound like anyone I know, why do you ask though?”

I could hear Restia sigh under her breath but she brushed it off quickly and replied in her usual tone.

“Oh no reason, its nothing important. Just wanted to check something. Anyways, ignore the fact that I asked you this. You must be tired so do sleep early if not it won’t be much fun teasing you tomorrow.”

Restia said vaguely and brushing the whole conversation off before her voice disappeared.

“Mizuki huh, I wonder who that name belongs to..”

I wondered as I drifted off into sleep as well.

The next morning, I got the green light from the nurse to be discharged and the first thing I did was go to the room Shiho was resting in to check up on her. I heard from the nurse that the room she was in was down the hall so I headed for her room.

As I was outside the room she was supposedly resting in, I could hear the sound of chatter which was a good sign as it meant that she had woken up and was able to converse as per normal.

I quickly opened the door and was greeted with not only Shiho in the room who was dressed in a hospital gown but also the other girls from Brunhilde class and Yuki for some reason. While the girls from my class were wearing their uniforms, Yuki was wearing a bright blue kimono with red floral prints.

“Yuki, what are you doing here?” I expressed my surprise at her arrival which was met with a growing tension in the air for some reason.

“You..you cheating bastard, the first thing you do when you enter my room is to hit on another girl. I should have castrated you when I had the chance.”

A familiar voice called out from the bed in the centre of the room. She was about to materialize her scythe when I quickly ran towards her and gave her a tight hug. I could not see her face but I could sense her body heating up.

“Shiho! You’re alright! Thank the heavens! I lost you once, I am not going to lose you again.”

Suddenly, there was silence in the air as all the girls in the room gasped and probably too shocked to say a word. In hindsight, hugging a girl and saying those words were probably not the smartest actions at that point in time.

“Uh..Uhm, Kazuha I’m fine now, you can let go of me.” Shiho said softly and I could see a pink tinge on her face which showed that she was probably quite embarrassed by that whole exchange.

“Kazuha-san, I am so sorry that I had no idea you had a girlfriend. I apologize if I gave hints that I was attracted to you or anything..” Yuki said in a panicked tone which was unusual for her as she had always kept her cool regardless of the situation. Maybe she is weak in such sensitive areas such as romance.

Upon her comment, I could feel the stares of every girl in the room including my own sister as they were literally glaring daggers at me. Deciding to de-escalate the situation before any more misunderstandings happen, I decided to clear the air.

“I’m sorry Yuki but you seem to be misunderstanding my relationship with Shiho, we are not a couple and are merely roommates. I can assure you that there is nothing going on with us.”

I explained in the most professional voice I could muster but it seemed to have the opposite effect from what I desired as I could feel Shiho’s aura rising with rage.

“ROOMMATES!!??, that means that the both of you sleep together everyday??” Yuki exclaimed with a gasp which made the tension in the air rise even further.

“This is not the time for this banter. That idiot Kazuha’s relationships aside, we have quite a few pressing issues on our hands.”

Thankfully, Emiri brought everyone back to the current situation where Yuki was invited to give her experience with Raikou to the rest of the girls such that we are all aware of the current situation.

“Thank you so much pipsqueak, I’ll treat you to ice cream or something later.” I whispered to Emiri who calmed everyone down.

Emiri then gave the signal to Yuki for her to start recounting her experience but before she could speak a word, the crystal on my chest started glowing and a purple haired goth lolita appeared.

“Restia-sama, it is good to see you again.” Yuki greeted Restia first while bowing to show her respect.

“Hey Restia, what’s up? You don’t normally make an appearance like this?” I questioned her sudden interuption.

“I believe that you were talking about pressing issues yes? I think what I am about to announce is the quite pressing as well.” Restia replied me with an oddly serious tone.

“Everyone, while I am an advocate for privacy, I believe this issue concerns all of you in this room. Especially you Kazu-kun.”

“Restia-sama, what is the matter?” Kasumi spoke what was probably on everyone’s mind.

I could sense the atmosphere in the room turn somber as Restia was about to make her announcement which hinted at the gravity of what she was about to say.

“Kazuha is no longer able to use his abilites. Hence he is no longer a fafnir.”
