B1.E.1 - C.1.1 "The Girl with the Visage of a Raven"

Every Journey whether it's big, or small starts with a single first step” was the only thought that was currently filling the girl's head “And my new life begins!.” lying on the bed comfortably while wearing a exotic black nightgown even though last night a heavy storm past and wild waves hit the boat that made things quite shaky the girl still slept very comfortably. As she lay in bed, her right hand is position on top of her chest holding her most prized possession, a white golden stringed necklace with a black bird emblem engraved with a small circular white gem as its eyes. As she held her necklace dearly, she is entertaining herself watching the morning blue skies through the circular window of the small white yacht she's currently on board.

“Adelaide we're here!” she heard a strong familiar voice call her name.

As her daydreaming suddenly got interrupted, she knew they have arrived at their destination. Slowly she stood up and  began gathering her belongings one by one, she quickly started to packed her things from the floor, placed her favorite necklace back in her neck and hastily headed to the top deck of the yacht.

On the top deck, she saw it was past noon and within minutes the boat will dock the pier. Then suddenly, she saw a brown haired tall, dark, dressed in a captain's shirt, holding the ship's rudder spoke with the same voice,

“Hey Princess! You're quite a heavy sleeper.”

She replied “Hmmm... Hari you just noticed? I thought you already knew since we were once very intimate with each other.”

He responded with a pleasant smile on his face.“I knew you're quite a sleeper but I didn't know you're really a heavy one! It baffles me that you can sleep in such heavy conditions. The storm last night almost tipped our boat.”

“Is that so Hari!? But never mind that, we're almost here.”

“Yeah we are and I guess this is where we split ways. You know you're still technically a minor.”

Adelaide smiled beautifully and laughed wildly.

“We’ll we are of the nearly of the same age and the only difference is you just reached the legal age earlier than me.”

Hari grinned menacingly and yet a few seconds later his expression changed.

“Are you sure you really want to do this ?”

“More than anything in the world Hari!”.

“More than me? Addy”

“You already know the answer to that,”  Adelaide hastily replied.

“Just be careful Adelaide and be cautious on whom to trust. This are hard times. Bad and unexpected things happens in an instant whether you like it or not. Even with all your gifts you’re still vulnerable.”

“I know! you don’t have to remind me Hari!”.

Few minutes later the yacht docked on the pier.

“Hey Adelaide! I'll miss you dearly and have a great life!” Hari said happily while having a forlorn expression on his face hoping he could get some sort of reassurance from her. Adelaide felt she should say something back to him but instead she just returned the gesture with a beautiful smile.

The yacht docked on the pier, as Adelaide was ready to exit, Hari called her again “ Addy! Here, take this,” Hari handed her a small bag and a pink summer hat, a white envelope and a map.

Adelaide opened the bag and she saw a white envelope, a folded map and a rectangular shaped object wrapped in a thinly with a cloth.

“What's this!?” Adelaide asked.

“Let's just say a going away present. When and only if you're in need of help, open the box. and also don’t forget to look for Melv Liberate.”

“Melv Liberate?”

“He’s a good buddy of mine since childhood.” Hari chuckled when he remembered what kind of buddy Melv is to him.

“The map will lead you to the place where he usually do his shady stuff.”

“Shady stuff? Are you sure he’s a good character to associate with?”

Hari gave off a mysterious smile to Adelaide’s because she will know him soon enough.

“You’ll find him at the Fall to get your special ID since you’re still underage even if you’ll become a legal adult in a several more months.”

“Remember Centralia isn’t some place filled with fairy tales.” Hari spoke again but this time it had a tone of concern.

Without thinking she moved closer and gave him a kiss on the lips for a split second, smiled and said.

Farewell and thank you for everything” Were the only words that came out from her lips, even though she knew she wanted to say more than what she had said.

Hari’s face blushed and Adelaide mused herself as she found it quite cute seeing this side of him. She knew he made a name for himself by showing off his remarkable strength alone.

Adelaide moved forward knowing her necklace is safely stored within her backpack and she felt no regret on her decision to leave the only place she can remember as her home, she started feeling a rush of joy and excitement.

With only the purple silk dress she was currently wearing, her old army backpack filled with clothes, her tiny life savings on her back. She was ready to depart and so she left the boat and moved onward.

She felt  overwhelmed at the sight of the busy crowds as they passed by. The salty air, the foul stench of fishes and nearly dried sea foods on the nearby crates that were being unloaded from the nearby fishing boats couldn't bother her because all that was running through her mind was a single thought, “New beginning.”

After exiting the docks to look for a place to stay, she walked towards the nearby street in search for any form of transportation that could deliver her to a local cheap hotel that she can afford in the city.

Plenty of people were on the street, but none of them gave a passing glance at Adelaide. She didn’t mind it though. Wandering around this new town, deprived of the things that bonded her, A future free of the nightmares that haunted her.

As she walked cautiously to avoid bumping another person, she suddenly felt a strange yet familiar presence. She wondered where the presence was coming from.

She heard a whisper yet she could not understand what it meant.

She was shocked for the very first time, Adelaide was witnessing something extraordinary.

Time stood still at that moment and then she realized that the chaotic noises and busy atmosphere was replaced by momentary silence instantaneously.

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

There was no sound nor a slight noise at that exact moment and when she looked, nothing was there yet she felt something was really there taking an interest at her.

A daunting and enigmatic feelings arose inexplicably all over her body. a hard chill running deep inside her. Adelaide couldn’t explain what’s currently happening, so she mustered up all the courage to strengthen her inner resolve, before something really bad happens to her.

“Show yourself! I know you're there I can feel you whoever or whatever you are?” Adelaide bluntly said out loud yet nothing happened.

Therefore she decided to focus all her concentration towards that certain point. She thought she saw a shadow move very quickly in between the people that stood still, but when she looked again it was gone. Nevertheless, she shuddered as she felt something was definitely going on. It felt like a cloud creeping over the sun. Everything resumed back to normal, and the noises returned and everyone going on with their lives as if nothing happened.

“This is crazy! Hope I'm not mad!” Baffled on what just occurred and couldn't explain on what just happened.

A heavy chill still envelops her entire body, her hands shaking uncontrollably and her breath is short and her heart is beating so fast. Adelaide suffering from such condition throughout her body decided to move on for she thought she'd go mad if she kept wondering about it. She knew people would think she was mentally insane that could send her to an asylum if she mentioned it to anyone.

Adelaide knew this is just only the beginning for she knew something took an interest in her and it will return. She has no proof of it only an instinctive feeling that it’s not over yet and the mystery will return someday. Adelaide felt a deep darkness lies ahead and it has noticed her.

“Why me? I am nobody!” The thought kept repeating over and over again for a couple of minutes.

A second later, she saw a large, all-black passerine bird flew away with such grace from the spot where she thought she saw where the shadow passed by.

Once the bird flew quite some distance away she felt relieved and the heavy fear she felt not long ago subsided yet did not dissipated for some reason.

She decided to move on for she thought she'd go mad if she kept wondering about it.

She knew people would think she was mentally insane that could send her to an asylum if she mentioned it to anyone.

Her decision to ignore and forget what had occurred even if it’s so hard not too, because nonetheless Adelaide must resume her journey.

At last she felt free for the first time in her life, void of shackles of pain, misery and all the suffering she suffered from her previous home. Now she’s a truly independent individual where she can go where ever she wants.

She hope her scars would heal over time and be replaced with something else entirely.

To fly freely and happily away from the shackles that binds us known as the past is a freedom one who longed to escape their own dreadful past and forge an entirely new future.

A life she can decide what she wanted to do.

No regrets on her decision to leave her foster home, she began a rush feeling a rush of joy, excitement replaced the unnerving feelings she felt few moment ago.

Wearing her only expensive dress a purple silk dress she’s got from Hari last winter solstice, her old army backpack filled with clothes, her tiny life savings on her back, while wearing her most prized possession.

Adelaide thought to herself.  “No one knows me here and I’ll make sure it stays this way for as long as I can. I can’t let ‘them’ find me in here.”

She walked straight ahead without turning back. Adelaide was surprised and overwhelmed at the sight of the busy crowds at this new city she just arrived in as they passed by her.

She felt the distinction between this part of the world and the small town where she used to lived are worlds apart.

Still near the docks, she could still the salty air, the foul stench of fishes and nearly dried sea foods on the nearby crates that were being unloaded from the nearby fishing boats couldn't bother her except she previously experienced. Though her heart was still heavily pounding after the passing of such event Adelaide’s mind was now cleared and all that was running through her was a single thought, “A new beginning  for me and if someone tries to take it away i’ll crush them without hesitation”.

Yet unknown to her somewhere in a different part of the world, there exist a eerie forest enveloped by a thick fog. A forest inhabited by strange creatures, and that thrive off from the bodies of weary travelers.  Dead trees that stood motionless within yet if one could could feel that the dead trees aren’t quite dead yet. A place that had deteriorated throughout the ages. A dreaded place were the brave even feared to tread.

After endlessly walking, he reached his destination: a small hut in the middle of the desolate and bleary forest. A single candle was burning inside the hut. The traveler entered and closed the door behind him. With a thought, a path opened in the ground of the hut. Another thought, and a ball of light formed in front of him, leading him down into the earth.

Passing through a door and entering into a large chamber, he could sense the tension and alarm in the room.

He knew he was surrounded and yet he could not see them within the darkness.

Then he proceeded towards the center of the chamber and knelt down in front of an golden altar that had a shape of a giant bird that which had the size  bigger than a regular man and spoke blatantly.

“My brothers and sisters!!! There has been an awakening. A great disturbance within the ‘flow’.” He spoke loudly in a way that everyone could hear clearly.

“The prophesied event has finally come.”

Then everyone within the shadows around him began to whisper to each other.

“It is as we had suspected all along but does anyone know where it actually happened?”” A man wearing a white cloak whose face couldn’t be seen spoke in clear yet subtle tone.

“My men and I are currently investigating where it actually occurred, but we have a general idea on which country it transpired.”

“The ‘others’ have surely felt it too.” From the shadows emerged a young man with very pale skin, reddish blond hair, and pale blue eyes wearing an asymmetrical white suit edged with grey fur around his neck, across and down his back, and down his left side.

A very charming young man who could be easily mistaken as beautiful lady stepped forward towards the center of the room walking effortlessly.

Upon reaching the altar he once again spoke in a dignified demanding tone.

“We must act now or it will be too late! ‘She’ has finally returned. Without a doubt blood will flow across the lands and the ‘sky’ shall once again fall.”
