Redemption: a Pokemon story
10 years earlier - part 3

10 years earlier - part 3

The city never sleeps, but its people do, some pokemon enjoy sleep a lot more than others. Whilst Lyra is quite the morning pokemon, Alison Aquania was much more of a lie in bed and let the rest of the world go to hell for all he cared. He was a year 11 student, 15 years old turning 16 later in the year, he was studying to become a teacher, this was the first year of a 5 year course, 3 years in standard education than 2 extra years to become a qualified teacher, he hadn't chosen his area of expertise, he still had 3 years to decide what he wanted to specialise into.

Though if he was being honest, he was considering becoming a battle teacher, just like his mum.

“Ali! Time to get up! You're going to be late for school!” Alison's mum, a female azumarill, started announcing up the stairs that lead to his room, she was trying and failing to deal with his baby sister, a 2-year-old baby Azurill, that somehow had learned the move bounce. She was cute as a button but was always a massive handful in the mornings. Groaning lightly, Alison dragged himself upright, glancing at the clock face that was next to his bed, it read 7:24.

Alison stared it at clock face with unfocused eyes, slowly letting them close again as he slipped back onto his pillow.

“I can sleep 5 more minutes...” murmuring he closed his eyes and drifted back to sleep.

BANG! The door to his room was booted wide open, a human footprint imprinted into the door, alongside many other such imprints, the door handle had embedded itself into the left-hand side wall next to it, his mum stood tall in her human form, positioned in what was left of the doorframe, steam rising from her outstretched foot, she stood there scowling at her son as he bolted straight upright, he’s eyes now wide open staring at his mum, clutching the duvet cover to keep some level of modesty, he slept naked in his natural form during the night.

“I'm up I'm up!” He wailed desperately, leaping out of bed towards the dresser on the opposite side of the room to get dressed, his mother followed his movements before she scowled deeper, giving a stern warning to the frantic pokemon.

“You’ve got 5 minutes before your father leaves for school, you better not miss the car” she turned her back to Alison, heading back down the stairs, footsteps echoing up into his room as the faint sound of giggling floated up the stairs from the kitchen.

“Yes, mum…” Alison mumbled the reply as he shifted through his draws trying to find some clean clothes to wear.

Crash! (nondescript swearing)

Mum will not be in a good mood this morning it seems, Alison thought to himself as he grabbed his school uniform from the dresser. Like Lyra he was enrolled in Helix academy, though he was two years younger than the former, coupled with him being a dual-type pokemon they had never interacted with each other, Alison only knowing of Lyra due to her being a rather prominent figure in the academy, though he personally thought she was a bit too stuck up.

Slipping into his form-fitting top and blazer, he double-checked his bracelet to make sure he had his school uniform loaded up, there was nothing more embarrassing than changing your human form without pants or trousers loaded into the bracelet, sock and shoes could be forgiven an overlooked for sure, but having your dick flop around? Social suicide.

Seeing he did have everything ready to go, he mentally activated the human form from the storage bracelet, his naturally blue body glowed white as he gained height, legs extending out with larger feet as his torso extended and broadened out, his arms lengthening greatly as human-like digits developed on his new hands. His ears shrunk slightly as aqua blue hair grew out of his scalp, his head now perched on a stout neck rather than directly connected to his torso.

The entire process only took 4 seconds to complete, once it did though the white light faded away leaving Alison now fully clothed from head to toe in his human form. He was average height, around 5 foot 6 inches, though he always claimed he was 5’8, with nothing remarkable about his face other than some blue freckles marking his now caucasian skin tone. Alison glanced down at his body, double-checking that everything was in place and clean. Once he was sure that he was good to go, he nodded once before the white light shone once more, this time only taking a second before it faded back out returning him into his natural form as an azumarill, albeit with small white freckles dotting either side of his mouth.

Grabbing his school bag that he had packed the night before from the table on the right side of the doorway, he dashed down the stairs, jumping the final 4 stairs at the bottom, resulting in a loud crash as he slid into a wall.

“*SNORT*” groaning lightly, Alison glared at his younger sister Chloe, a marill. She was standing next to the door heading out of the apartment, she was waiting for her brother so had seen everything, she couldn’t help but laugh at seeing her brother's face plant the wall. Alison was mostly unharmed, the only major thing that took a beating was his sense of pride, his HP only dropped a couple points down, suggesting he didn’t take much damage in the first place anyway.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

“Dad’s in the car, hurry up, you're slower than a slowpoke!” Chloe catcalls him, a triumphant grin on her face. Alison just huffed, shooting back at his baby sister.

“At least I didn’t lose a pyukumuku in a foot race” Chloe's face just darkened, pouting as tears swelled in the corners of her eyes, the subject was a massive sore spot for the young pokemon. She turned, yanking open the door before stomping out in a huff, slamming it closed. Alison just sighed as he moved towards the door, it was a low blow he knew that he would apologize in the car.

“Brother A in trouble!” a cheerful sing-song voice emanated from behind him. Alison froze on the spot, sweat pouring off him as his mom stood behind him holding the ever cheerful baby of the family, Bethany.

“Hmmmmm, maybe I should so Chloe the photos of you trying to be a mudkip? Maybe that will make you equal, hmmmmm?” his mother leered down upon him, an evil glint shining in her eyes, a creepy grin spreading over her face. Alison dropped to his knees to beg.

“Please no! I will say sorry I promise!!” his mother just smiled.

“Oh really? Because you're about to miss the car” she spoke in a cheerful voice, Alison leap to his feet and charged to the door, wrenching it open he legged it down the pathway to the parking space where his dad has laughing at the sheer desperation his son was showing, he would have waited for Alison to get some breakfast but he wasn't going to tell him that. A form of punishment for making his sister cry, he could now wait till lunchtime for food. Chloe was at in the rear of the car, pouting her lips having changed into human form, she was still in her final year of primary school so didn’t attend Helix yet so wore a different uniform and unlike helix, she had to be in her human form during school time, whilst helix allowed human or natural form during school hours.

Alison made it to the other side of car from his sister, opening the door and getting into the car, sitting rather awkwardly as he felt a little embarrassed in the complete silence, the engine wasn’t even running yet and his dad had adopted a more stoic expression on his face as he watched his son on the mirror.

Rubbing the tip of his ear, Alison looked away in a downcast manner before sighing. Turning to his sister is mumbled out.

“I’m sorry for bringing that up sis, it wasn’t your fault you lost...” Chloe just kept pouting, before giving her a rather terse reply.

“Of course it wasn’t my fault I was helping someone!” Alison kept rubbing the tip of his ear before adding.

“I know… will you forgive me?” Chloe just grumbled and continued pouting, their father couldn’t keep stoic any longer so broke into the conversation with a smile on his face.

“I'm sure she will forgive you if you let her go on your switch for the next couple days, won't you dear?” he laughed as both kids looked up at him, one in horror and the other in delight.

“Yes, I will daddy!” Chloe chimed out, the pouting and mumbling nowhere to be seen, instead a glowing face took its place. Instead, it was now Alison’s turn to pout.

“What do you need to say to your brother then Chloe?” their dad grinned as he asked his now very cheerful daughter.

“I forgive you brother! Thank you for letting me have the switch!” that made him turn to stare at his sister.

“Borrow! You are borrowing it, it's still mine” Alison clarified, Chloe stuck her tongue out at him in return before turning back to her dad to plead to him.

“Daddy...”

“No your brother is right, you can borrow his switch for 3 days, no longer than that.” their dad replied as he started the cars electric engine and pulled out of the parking space into the road, heading off to helix academy to drop Alison off first.

“AH! Wait, dad, I haven’t had breakfast yet!” Alison just remembered that he still hadn’t had food that morning. His father chuckled, the same evil glint in his eyes that Alison’s mother had, replying.

“Well, next time don't make your sister cry” Alison just groaned as his sister stuck her tongue out at him in victory.

The car journey to school wouldn’t take long as they lived inside the city limits, in the plumbing sector of the city, this is where all the cities water and sewage is dealt with, meaning it is also home to a vast number of water type and poison type pokemon. Their father worked in the business sector of the city, about 40 minutes from home, whilst Helix academy and Chloe’s primary school were only a 20 and a 27-minute drive from home respectively so it was commonly their father that took them into school in the mornings.

20 minutes later they arrived just outside the school gates of Helix academy, Alison jumped out of the car, bidding farewell to his dad and sister before he started to walk towards the school gates.

On his way to the gates, he spied a rather noticeable pokemon slowly making his way towards the gate, he was in his human form with his hands in resting in his trouser pockets slightly hunched over and he strode towards the gate. Alison waved over to the pokemon.

“Morning Ragni” the pokemon known Ragni didn't move his head to look towards Alison, he didn’t need to, instead a separate head rose out of a special compartment on his left shoulder, the head was in his natural form so it snaked out on a black arm like appendage, blue coloured skin covered the serpentine face with black eyes and red pupils but lacked teeth, ears and a nose.

The head swung side to side looking for the source of the voice as he carried walking on towards through the school’s gate, not finding anyone at his level of height, he started to scan lower to the ground finally spotting the water rabbit, who was still waving cheerfully. Letting out a tired sigh, Ragni grudgingly replied.

“Morning” Ragni was fairly unsociable in the mornings, as were a lot of other dragon types. They were always a bit slow in the mornings unless they had a secondary fire typing. It was what led to the insult of dragons being the reptile type, no better than cowardly lizards and snakes.

Around them other pokemon were stopping and pointing at the two of them, whispering and sending dirty looks in their direction.

“Freaks”

"I bet they are type traitors"

“How could he stand to be so close to a dragon like that?”

“5 bucks that the dragon snaps at him”

“It's not natural”

The two had heard it all before, still didn’t stop them from talking. They weren’t friends by any means, of course, Ragni was two years older then Alison and both had different friend groups. They were, however, the only fairy dragon type students that would willingly talk to each other.

Dinnggg-

Both pokemon were startled by the sudden noise, as were their fellow schoolmates who for the moment had forgotten the two pokemon, joining in looking for the source of the sound. Alison and Ragni shared one last look of confusion before Ragni lifted his hand in parting gesture before striding off towards the schools shared library, Alison waved him off for a couple of seconds before walking over to the year 11 classroom complex.

The school was separated into 10 different complexes, 7 of which were designed as classrooms, one complex for each year of student, the remaining 3 designed into different complexes, the gym complex, the art complex and the teachers complex.
