Chapter 17 - A Call

Chapter 17 - A Call

Kiron looked at the human who was chasing the dragon… According to the books he had read when he was younger, only people are the Profound Elemental Realm would be able to fly!

“There’s something… A strange feeling within me!” Kiron mumbled to himself.

Just what kind of a dragon is that? Kiron had read a book about dragons before, so he pretty much knew about all the known dragon races. That dragon… It was small, perhaps the size of a large bear!

*BANG*

The dragon was blown into the mountain, sending countless boulders flying everywhere!

Kiron grabbed his mother’s hand and started running towards the center of the town. He was already comparable to the 7th rank of the Profound Practitioner Realm, so avoiding the boulders was an easy task for him.

*ROAR*

The dragon’s cries could be heard by everyone in Norica. The dragon stood still for a couple of seconds, it made no sense. Just why was the dragon standing still when it was in clear danger?

“You pitiful human! You dare attack me when I am at my weakest? Unfortunately for you, even if I am unable to fight you, I can still run away!” It sounded like the voice of a woman in her forties.

This stood to confirm that this was a battle between two experts at the Profound Elemental Realm. Profound Beasts can only start speaking once they enter the Profound Elemental Realm!

Kiron had already arrived at the center of the town together with his mother. “Kiron!” Robin came running up to him. Robin’s house had already been completely crushed by one of the boulders.

“Look, the dragon is flying away!” Someone in the crowd suddenly said. Everyone felt relieved when they saw the dragon flying away.

Kiron looked around and thought to himself “Even if it was just a short fight between 2 experts of the Profound Elemental Realm, it was still enough to destroy half the town…”

People were gathered at the center, completely shocked by the events that had just happened. Luckily, the casualties were low, only 4 people had died from the event.

The grounds were covered in craters, the buildings were destroyed and over half of the mountain forest had been burned down. This was no longer a town where people could live.

“Mom, you should buy a house in Taruck! You should have enough to buy a house there, and if you don’t, I’ll just get you some more money!” Kiron wanted to mention the Mid Ranked Cores, but he was afraid that it would just make her worry even more. “And there are many experts within the city! So if anything like this happens around the city, then the guards will take care of it!” Kiron had hints of worry in his tone as he spoke.

Charlotte looked at Kiron, “I’ll do that.” She knew that if she continued staying here, Kiron would just be worrying about her, so she just went with it.

Kiron could feel something strange within him, it made him feel like there was something in the mountain, something he couldn’t ignore.

“Then, I will take you to Taruck later today.” Kiron continued, “But, there’s something I need to check out in the mountains first!” Kiron looked at the mountain as he spoke

Kiron then started walking, but not towards the mountains, he was walking towards Robin.

“Robin, you’re going to Taruck with your father, right? I was planning on bringing my mother to Taruck, but there’s something really important I need to do!” Kiron felt bad that he was leaving his mother at this time, but that strange feeling of something calling to him… His body refused to ignore it.

“Yes, I’m going to Taruck with my father, we were just about to leave. I will bring her along with me and my father! But, what is it you are going to do?” Robin looked at Kiron with a hint of curiosity in his eyes.

To be honest, even Kiron wasn’t sure about what he was going to do. “I’m not sure, but I’m getting this… Strange feeling, and it’s coming from the mountains. It’s like something is calling out to me!” Kiron had no idea how to explain the feeling within him.

Robin looked at Kiron with curious eyes, “Alright, I’ll take your mother to Taruck then. But, when will you be there?”

“I’m not sure, but I will be there before the Burning Phoenix Sect members sends someone to pick us up!” Kiron didn’t know how long it would take, but he was sure he’d return before the Burning Phoenix Sect would come.

Kiron then started running towards the mountains. And with every step he took, the feeling within him grew stronger!

… He was now at the bottom of the mountain

“Why… Why are there so many profound beasts here?” Kiron was surprised and shocked upon seeing the countless profound beasts running around in all directions.

It was as if the profound beasts had all gone crazy searching for something. The scene was hard to describe with words.

But Kiron, he could feel exactly what it was he was searching for. That feeling within him, it was getting stronger, even if he was standing still. Whatever that strange feeling was, one thing was for sure!

It was moving towards him!

“I have a good amount of time, and whatever that strange feeling is… It’s moving towards me. Instead of just running towards it, I can just wait for it. Besides, there are countless profound beasts here, some are even at the 7th rank! There are so many cores here, it would be a waste to ignore them all!” Kiron thought to himself.

Kiron took the greatsword out of his interspatial ring. There were hundreds of profound beasts, all ranging from 1st rank to the 7th rank! In other words, a gold mine!

Kiron started running around, cutting down and taking the cores of the beasts at the 6th rank and below. He didn’t want to use his time fighting the profound beasts at the 7th rank, killing them would take too much time.

… Silver Wolves, Wild Boars, Brown Bears… All profound beasts below the 7th rank were being slaughtered by Kiron.

The profound beasts gradually started noticing Kiron’s presence, and they all started charging at him

*Boom*

*Bang*

*Boom* …

Almost all the nearby profound beasts had been slaughtered, but right now, Kiron was fighting a Hyena of the 7th rank.

Fighting this Hyena was different that fighting the weaker profound beasts. This Hyena had not only incredible tough skin, but also incredibly tough fur. Making it hard to cut through,

Kiron realized that he wasn’t able to cut the Hyena, so he put the greatsword back into his interspatial ring. He was going to use his fists and feet as weapons against this Hyena.

Kiron’s strength didn’t come from his speed, it came from his strength and defense. So against an agile opponent like this Hyena, he was having great difficulties landing an attack. “Ugh, this isn’t working!” Kiron said to himself with a frown on his face. It was obvious to him that he needed to work on improving his combat speed!

After a while, Kiron’s body was covered in small cuts. While the Hyena didn’t possess enough strength to mortally wound Kiron, it had the speed too slowly cut down Kiron. After failing to land a single attack on the Hyena, Kiron took out his greatsword again. With the greatsword he was able to land some small attacks on the Hyena at least.

Kiron didn’t attack this time, he just stood there, waiting for the Hyena to make a mistake. If the Hyena would leave itself open, even for just a second, he would use that opening a kill it.

The Hyena grew impatient… It pounced itself at Kiron, and it was just the moment he had been waiting for.

*Whoosh*

The sound of the wind could be heard from Kiron’s blade as he slashed his greatsword at the Hyena. The Hyena was sent flying, landing on the ground at least 20 meters away from Kiron!

Kiron exploded like an arrow towards the Hyena, he now had a golden opportunity to kill it. He just needed to arrive before it could get up.

*Bang*

Kiron kicked the Hyena in the throat with all his might, crushing its wind pipe. The Hyena was now dead.

He started walking around, looting the corpses of their cores. “With this many cores, I won’t ever have to worry about money again!” Kiron was incredibly satisfied with the result!

1 High Ranked Core

19 Mid Ranked Cores

72 Low Ranked Cores

The entire zone around him no longer looked like a place that had just been destroyed. It now looked a battlefield. The ground was painted with blood and there were bodies everywhere!

But that strong feeling within Kiron, it was now incredibly close to him.

“Whatever it is that’s coming towards me, it is less than a hundred meters away from me” Kiron didn’t know what to feel. Is it something he should be scared off?

Kiron turned around in order to look at whatever it was that was coming towards him.
