Sound attacks are the hardest on those with high Perception. Raid bosses that attack with sound are difficult to deal with.
…
My vision swam as yet another High Frequency smashed against my consciousness. I turned my head to the side and vomited another mouthful of blood. High Frequency messed with not only my ears but my whole body. I could feel it shaking me apart.
The creature looked like a cross between a spider, a lizard, and a man. It had twelve piss-yellow eyes, two in the from two on the sides, seven on various parts of its body, and one giant eye atop its head. Grizzly teeth metallic and the size of steak knives jutted from its jaws. Its tail moved like a detective on meth, inspecting everything with the eyes and mouth on its end. The creature stood upright like a man towering with a height exceeding the length of a football field. Four great arms hung from a massive shoulder, each with spider-like hands and eyes on the palms. The worst part was its massive bulbous throat that expanded every time before it unleashed High Frequency.
I stood up between attacks and flew upward. A sonic boom blasted through the city as I flew high above the buildings and out of High Frequency’s range. The monster jerked its head up, and the largest of its twelve eyes began to charge.
While it charged, Ms. Badass fired off round after round with her anti-tank rifle. When that didn’t work, she ripped the main gun off one of the tanks, and Light joined her in remodeling it. James moved quickly, acquiring the parts needed to reconfigure it.
The central eye unleashed a bright yellow beam. I flew to the side after predicting its path, but the monster directed the beam with a glance. I pushed against the beam when it struck with Mortal Telekinesis and Force pushing against it with both magic and my strength. Still, Atomic Eyes was an A-rank skill; two B-rank skills under-leveled couldn’t compete. Light exploded around me as my aura battled against the beam.
Just as its first beam attack ended, it prepared a second beam attack. I couldn’t allow that. A fireball appeared at the end of my finger smaller than a grape, perfectly spherical, and black as hell. The raid boss began to laugh as it thrust its hands at me, and they, too, charged.
I shot down through a nearby building using its destruction as cover before blasting through a wall and into a nearby building as yellow beams sliced through the building.
My fireball was made from my own dragon fire fueled from my QI. It was also an A-rank skill, just like Atomic Eyes. I counted out the time as I flew through building after building until the beams died down. Then, I shot forward and barely noticed the buildings my body shot through. My only focus was on the raid boss.
Two of its arms pointed at me already charged while his other two hands and main eye began charging. I threw my fireball forward and watched it expand just before the monster shrieked. Unfortunately, covering my ears wasn’t enough as the beams hit me.
I knew I had to get in the air; if I didn’t, then this monster would blast me until even my Dragon’s Scales wouldn’t be enough to protect me.
A round suddenly impacted the creature, stunning it for a second. I shot up immediately, as quickly as I could. My thoughts weren’t of winning, only catching my breath. As I flew up, my mind moved quickly and a plan formed. First, I needed to get rid of its ability to use High Frequency. To that end, the monster’s throat had to be cut.
I twisted around and drew nameless. The blade erupted with demonic power, bathing the sky in shadows as I fed it more QI. Nameless practically cheered in my hand at being drawn as it drew back on the darkness it unleashed, condensing it around its blade. I realized then that nameless was the perfect lever for my power.
Marksmanship engaged as I flew down, uncaring what would happen when I impacted the ground. The sound barrier shattered as I flew down with all my might. Nameless left a trail of shadows as I descended like black ink dripped on a landscape painting. I sliced into the creature’s throat, tearing a great seam into it. It sucked in a breath only to spray black ichor everywhere.
I impacted the ground even as I pulled on myself with all the thrust my QI could manage. Even my near unbreakable body threatened to rip itself apart in the effort of stopping my impact. Instead, I twisted my body and lifted a hand with a fireball prepared.
A black sphere erupted around the monster even as my fireball launched. The black sphere expanded around me, and my body slammed hard on the ground. Its four arms raised over me as I adjusted to the change in gravity.

The few buildings that survived the creature’s rampage finally gave out, crumbling around it. Another powerful blast impacted the creature from the remaining users. James shot across the distance, unbothered by the increased gravity. He pulled free two black handguns that radiated power similar to nameless.
I heard the creature shriek as it retreated from James’ onslaught. Flight took me off the ground and until my body finally adapted to the change in gravity.
“That’s impressive; you don’t even have any anti-gravity items on you. Can you still fight?” James asked.
My body felt like it would fall apart at any moment. The High-Frequency skill had done a lot of damage. I felt like I’d collapse at any moment. So from now on, I’d have to be careful of attacks like High Frequency.
I shook my head as my vision grew blurry and put a foot forward. “I’ll be alright,” I said. For all my defenses, High Frequency had nearly done me in. I charged forward as the tail turned to me fully charged.
Accelerate activated a fireball formed at my fingertip and launched faster than before as the beam fired. As the atomic energy from the beam attack blasted into my fireball, I increased my speed with Accelerate. The raid boss balled its hands into fists and struck. Spectral hands of Asura rose to meet the fist head-on.
James continued to pepper the raid boss while I moved in close.
Every step closer to the monster increased the force of gravity. Finally, the creature lifted its foot and tried to stomp me. Fireballs from my free hand impacted the creature knocking its stomp off course. The ground shook a few inches to my left as I made my way to the creature.
I could see why this monster was considered a raid boss requiring a group of 20 users to deal with. However, its AOE skills were impressive.
A giant fist made of darkness impacted the creature bringing it to a knee. My spectral hands pulled the creature down by its freely given limb. All the while, they infected the creature with debuffs. Another round impacted the creature, and it panicked.
It repeatedly struck, focusing only on me. Accelerate kept me one step ahead of the creature as it pounded the ground. There was no way I’d be able to kill it with the Graviton Aura active. Enfeeble had undoubtedly weakened it, and my other skills had played their part. Black ichor rained down from the monster’s wounded neck even as it struck with its remaining limbs.
This was like dark souls all over again. I could only dodge as it flailed and bashed the ground. With every punch and scrape, it slowed down as its health slowly dwindled, and its strength decreased.
All of a sudden, its gravity well lost its power. The creature didn’t have the mana to maintain its powerful skill.
But it wasn’t anything I did. Enfeeble weakens stamina, not mana supply.
“You can thank the young master for our sudden good fortune. He’s been experimenting with debuffs with every round of the rigged mass accelerator.” James said.
I greeted the man’s words with a smile. “I will after we finish this fight.” My spectral hands finished grabbing ahold of the beast, and I concentrated all of my strength upon them. I raised nameless high before swinging it down.
The many spectral hands began to pull it in all directions while gripping the creature’s flesh. James and I listened as the creature shrieked as its flesh was ripped away. Then I approached it.
The pupil of its main eye glared at me as it narrowed. I stepped forward and sliced a hole into it before thrusting my hand inside. The creature’s shrieking grew worse as I detonated fireball after fireball inside of it. Finally, the creature’s head erupted like a pumpkin filled with gasoline.
A geyser of black flames erupted from the eyes in front of its face, the wound in its throat, and the holes on the side of the creature’s head.

Current Raid Bosses unlocked: Manhattan
I booted up the event page and saw the Manhattan armor; it granted gravity, vibration, and radiation resistance boosts. It also boosted those three damage types. The suit looked ugly with its grey design, but its color could be changed for a few Manhattan Crystals. After certain Manhattan variants are defeated in Ultra Raids.
“I heard you had something to say to me.” Light said as I put up my phone. The boy had a smug expression on his face that I just didn’t like. Perhaps the boy just rubbed me the wrong way. He seemed to have some sort of aristocratic air to him. Whether that was gained from his other or a natural part of him was anyone’s guess.
“Thank you for helping against Manhattan. Would you swap contact information with me?” The boy smirked but nodded.
“How did you get so powerful it couldn’t have been easy? This was your first raid, wasn’t it?” Light asked.
I nodded, feeling chips of my mask fall away. “You got me; this was my first time fighting that creature. I thought my high Parameters would mitigate its vibration skill, but they only made it worse. So from now on, I’ll have to wear vibration-resistant armor.” I said.
“You didn’t answer my question. How are you so strong but new to raids? We fought this raid before with a full team of experts in dealing with the creature. Unfortunately, there were casualties there as well. None of them could do what you can.” Light said.
I rolled my eyes. “Stick around long enough, and you’ll be able to do what I can as well. Just survive, and you’ll grow stronger; it's almost inevitable for us. Be sure to add plenty of utility skills to your combat skills. Flight is something you could look into. Though it didn’t help much against Manhattan.” I said.
Planes began to fly over the city, and I checked the time we still had nearly 9 hours before we absolutely had to leave. There was time still to search the city for secrets, train up some skills and maybe look for some elf pussy. 9 hours was a lot of time, and I could fly at supersonic speeds; the world was mine to explore.
“What do you plan to do now?” Light asked. I could feel his charisma pushing against my QI barrier.
“Watch yourself, boy; using skills on allies is a good way to get PKed.” I turned to the little shit to see his arms crossed and a bored expression on his face. “I’m going to train up a few skills, then go back to my main world, fuck my hot centaur girlfriend, and then go on another raid the second this place cools down,” I said.
Light made a retching sound before turning to me and smirking. “James would approve. You seem to be rather Viking-like in that way. I’ll send you his information too. Give us a call if you ever want to go on a raid or even an ultra-rapid together. Just don’t invite the weeb.” Light said and shivered. “The guy asked me if I had a death note. When he realized the raid boss’s name was Manhattan.” Light said.
I gave Light the peace sign and flew off to cause trouble and level up some skills.
