Ch1: He Who Want to Retire

[ John Wick POV ]

The Baba Yaga, that's what they had been calling me these past years. Ever since leaving Ruska Roma, my journey as an assassin has been a tumultuous ride.

Jardani Jovanovich, my birth name, is now but a distant memory since my departure from The Director's wing.

There, I learned everything from Close Quarters Combat (CQC), horseback riding, survival skills, medical expertise, the art of poison-making, and most crucially, the mastery in handling an extensive arsenal of weapons.

The Director's tutelage was nothing short of a rigorous dance between life and death, where every move could mean the difference between triumph and failure. Through the arduous process, I imbibed an unwavering sense of discipline and an unrelenting will to survive, even in the face of the most daunting challenges.

For years, I trained under The Director's watchful eye, absorbing her wisdom like a sponge. But at some point, I knew that it was time for me to leave Ruska Roma and embrace a new path, leaving my former self behind.

And then, as I embark on yet another mission, I carry with me the weight of my past, the knowledge and wisdom imparted by The Director, and the promise of a brighter tomorrow.

My expertise, honed over the years, will be put to the ultimate test, as I strive to accomplish my objectives with the same deadly precision that earned me the notorious moniker of "The Baba Yaga."

"John Wick" is a name that resonates with me as I enter the fold of the Tarasov Mob, led by the formidable Viggo Tarasov.

The Continental, a sanctuary for individuals like me, who make their living by taking lives, becomes my haven for rest and recuperation, intel gathering, and mission planning.

Here, amidst the hushed whispers and the clinking of glasses, I immerse myself in the art of assassination, honing my skills with a precision that has become second nature. The Continental is not merely a place; it is a way of life, a culture, an ethos that permeates every aspect of my existence.

Under the watchful gaze of Viggo Tarasov, I learn to adapt to the ever-changing tides of the criminal underworld, to be nimble, and to be resilient in the face of adversity. As my reputation grows, so does my circle of acquaintances, each more lethal than the last.

The life of a hitman is not for the faint of heart, but it is a path that I have chosen, one that has given me purpose and meaning in a world that can oftentimes be devoid of both.

With John Wick as my new name, I continue to tread the murky waters of the criminal underworld, leaving a trail of blood and destruction in my wake.

Years go by unnoticed. without me knowing, my life had been consumed by an endless cycle of killing, an existence where blood-stained hands were the norm.

Unattended, unjudged, unpunished;

My soul bore the burden of countless atrocities. The blood on my hands was a constant reminder of the darkness and cruelty that surrounded me.

I was exhausted, desperate for an escape from the vicious cycle of violence that I had been caught in. I am tired of living in a world dominated by violence, where survival was the only goal.

Despite my weariness, the primal instinct to survive in this dark, brutal reality relentlessly beckoned me to press on.

And then, she appeared. Everything changed when I met her.

She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen, and her presence alone brought light into my dreary existence. Her smile illuminated my world with color, her voice calmed the restless primal instinct within me, and her touch soothed all of my worries.

To my surprise, she accepted me for who I was - a killer, a merciless assassin who had only ever fought to survive.

I remember asking her why she wanted to be with someone like me. Her answer was simple.

"Did I need a reason to love you?" she said.

"You are a good person, John. I see that in you, and I want to be the one to give you the love that you need. I don't care about your past or the things you've done to stay alive-"

"-You are not alone anymore, and we can walk together into a new life, leaving everything in the past behind. I love you just the way you are - nothing more, nothing less."

At that moment, I felt as though the weight of the world had been lifted from my shoulders. Her words were a beacon of hope, leading me toward a brighter future, free from the darkness of my past. And for the first time in a long time, I felt truly alive

She was a beacon of light in the darkness, her presence radiating a warmth that I had not felt in years. Her gentle touch, her soft voice, her unwavering belief in the goodness that still existed in the world, all captivated my heart.

For the first time in my life, I felt a glimmer of hope, a sense that there was more to existence than the endless cycle of violence. Her love transformed me, making me question the very nature of my past deeds.

The world was still cruel, the darkness still looming, but I had found a reason to fight for something greater than myself.

With her by my side, I could navigate the treacherous waters of the criminal underworld, and perhaps one day, find redemption for my past sins

That's why I exerted every effort to abandon the underworld, even when Viggo Tarasov gave me an impossible task as a prerequisite for retirement.

Nevertheless, I accepted it, as I knew it was my only slim chance to bid farewell to this cruel world and live a peaceful life with her. I was all in.

Therefore, I embarked on an arduous, almost insurmountable task, gripping tightly to the sole opportunity I had to escape the danger of a gun pointed at my back or my loved ones. I was determined to leave this brutal world behind and start anew, without risking the safety of the one I love.

In the end, I succeeded in my mission, though it came at the cost of owning a blood contract to one of the most esteemed members of the High Table, the organization that presides over the Continental. Nonetheless, I believe that the price was well worth it.

A year after I had completed the task that Viggo had given me, I married her; the ray of sunshine that illuminated my previously dull and colorless world.

That day was without a doubt the happiest day of my life; her radiant smile, her exquisite dress that danced in the wind as we walked side by side to exchange our vows before the priest, her alluring fragrance carried by the breeze, and the tender voice in which she said,

"I do."

The emotions I experienced on that day were simply indescribable.

As I held her in my embrace, I was transported to a world where nothing else mattered except for the radiance of her touch and the tenderness of her love. The wounds that once marred my body now seemed trivial compared to the depth of emotion that flowed within me.

As we shared that tender, passionate kiss, At that moment, I knew that I had found my salvation in her, and I vowed to protect and cherish her for all eternity.

Her glossy pink lips lingered on mine, a reminder of the ecstasy we had shared. I held her tighter, drawing her closer to me, as if I could merge our souls together in a single embrace.

She was the light that illuminated my path, the anchor that kept me grounded, and the flame that burned within me, igniting a passion that I never knew existed. With her by my side, I was ready to conquer any obstacle, for she was my everything.

Yet life continued to fuck me over,

Life, unrelenting in its cruelty, continued to put me to the test. A few years after our blissful union, she was stricken with a terminal illness that ate away at her from the inside out.

I refused to leave her side, holding her trembling hands with my own, as though my grip alone could slow the steady march of the disease.

But I was helpless to stop the tremble that had crept into my own hands, a visible manifestation of my fear of losing her.

I would chuckle in those moments, remembering her words,

"How can you stop my hand from trembling if your own hand trembles too, you big dummy?" She would say it with a smile, the kind that I missed so much now.

As her strength waned, I spent every waking moment by her side, watching as her once-vibrant spirit slowly faded away. The mere thought of losing her was unbearable, and I found myself turning to whatever small comforts I could find just to make it through the day.

But even in her suffering, she remained a source of boundless strength and inspiration, her gentle touch and unwavering love sustaining me through even the darkest of moments.

And so I held on, clinging to the hope that one day, she would be restored to me, her light would shine brightly once more.

But as months passed, and with each day, Helen's condition continued to deteriorate, her body slowly consumed by the illness that had taken hold. And then, in the bleakness of December, she slipped away from me, leaving my world darker than ever before.

Now, here I stand, alone in front of her grave, rain pouring down in a relentless deluge, drenching my entire being.

Each drop of rain feels like a stab in my heart, a reminder of the pain and loss that I can never escape. I am consumed by grief, lost in a sea of memories that threaten to drown me.

I long to hold her once more, to feel the warmth of her embrace, and to hear her gentle voice whispering in my ear. But now, all I have is the cold, unfeeling earth beneath my feet and the endless expanse of sky above.

As the rain continues to fall, I am left with nothing but the realization that I will never again see her smile, never again hear her laugh, never again feel her touch.

I am engulfed by fear and confusion, my faith shaken to its core. I cry out to the heavens, my breathe and heartbeat carrying my questions to the clouds.

'Why must this cruel world keep tormenting me?' I lament in my heart.

'Am I not allowed to experience even a moment of happiness?'

'Have I not suffered enough?'

'Are my countless kills not enough to satisfy your thirst for blood?'

'Are these hands, tainted with the blood of many, not cursed enough?'

My fists clench tightly as I stare up at the darkening sky, desperate for a sign, for any answer to my pleas. The rain continues to fall, a never-ending cascade of tears that match my own. At this moment, I feel utterly alone, lost in a sea of pain and regret.

Still looking up, I search for solace, hoping against hope that someone, somewhere, will hear my cries.

'ANSWER ME!'

•Rumble• •Rumble•

'Answer me, God damn it!'

'Has my reason for existence been reduced to taking lives?!'

'Was the notion that I could find happiness simply too distasteful for you?!'

'Did you wish for me to simply slaughter without mercy, until my very last breath?!'

'Is that all I am to you?!'

•Rumble• •Rumble•

"ANSWER ME!! YOU MOTHERFUCKING GOD-!!"

•RUMBLE!!!•

•BOOM!!•

[ Third Person POV ]

In the blink of an eye, The Baba Yaga's rage was abruptly silenced by a mighty bolt of lightning that struck him where he stood. The intense force of the strike reduced him to nothing but a mere pile of dust, as if he had never existed in the first place.

The earth, the very mother of all, seemed to have snatched him away, reminding us of her unpredictable, awe-inspiring power.

The suddenness of the thunder was shocking, leaving a sense of finality that reverberated through the air. The Baba Yaga, once a fearsome and imposing figure, was now no more than a memory, vanquished by the might of nature.

The scene was one of breathtaking beauty, the sky awash in a wash of electric blue, while the earth below crackled with energy.

The wind, previously calm and still, began to stir, carrying away the dust of The Baba Yaga and scattering it to the far reaches of the world.

In the middle of nowhere, a white-light figure of a human can be seen materializing; a white humorous space with no edge can be seen, no single life or thing even there, only the human figure stood there, floating still.

In the midst of a vast emptiness, a figure slowly materialized, emerging from the ethereal realm. A being of light, with a form that appeared human, came into view.

As it came closer, the figure was surrounded by a radiant, white aura, giving it an otherworldly quality.

In the space around the figure, there was nothing but a void of white humor, with no distinguishable edges or boundaries. It was as if the entire place was a realm beyond the limits of time and space, where the laws of physics no longer applied. In the vast emptiness, not a single living thing or object could be seen. apart from the lone figure in the middle of it.

The figure appeared to be in a state of serene stillness, floating effortlessly in the white abyss. Its face was calm and expressionless.

As John Wick slowly opened his eyes, he was greeted with a deafening voice that echoed all around him. The sound was so overwhelming that he couldn't even process his surroundings. Was he in a dream or had he been transported to another world?

A feeling of disorientation washed over him as he tried to grasp his surroundings. The voice was booming, and it seemed to reverberate through every fiber of his being. He struggled to focus his thoughts as he listened to the voice's message, wondering if he was in some kind of an alternate reality.

His heart pounded in his chest, a thundering rhythm that he could feel throughout his entire body. His breaths came in short, jagged gasps. He felt like he was suspended in mid-air, with nothing to hold onto, no solid ground to stand on.

{ Do you want to see your wife again? }

At the sudden question, John's eyes widened, and his mind began to race at an alarming pace. He felt like his thoughts were tumbling down a steep incline, each idea tripping over the next in a frenzied scramble to find an explanation. His mind felt like a frenetic whirlwind of thoughts, all clashing and colliding with one another.

{ Do you want it or not? }

Jardani Jovanovich hesitated for a moment, unsure of who or what he was dealing with. The voice that had spoken to him seemed all-knowing, almost godlike in its power. John's mind was a swirl of questions, but he finally asked,

"Who are you? Are you a God?" The response was curt and to the point,

{ Yes or no? }

John felt a chill run down his spine. The voice seemed to know everything about him, including the deep desire he had been trying to bury for years.

He took a deep breath and gave his answer,

"Yes." There was a long pause, and then the voice spoke again,

{ It will cost you }

John's heart skipped a beat, but he was resolute.

"I'll do anything if that will make me together with Helen again," he said with unwavering determination.

{ So be it } the voice replied.

{ Your mission is to make a change in a world where outlaws still reign. A change so significant that it's worth granting your wish. I care not how long it takes, but once your task is complete, I shall let you know. }

John's heart pounded in his chest as the words echoed through his mind. The very idea of being sent to another world, facing outlaws and unknown dangers, made his pulse race. But the thought of reuniting with Helen, the woman he loved with all his heart, made him resolute. He had to do whatever it took.

While John's mind was still filled with a million questions, the voice continued,

{ And I won't send you empty-handed. Choose an ability or an item from this list. When you are ready, you will immediately start your journey. }

Immediately after that, The voice's parting words echoed in his mind,

{ Take a close eye on Van Der Linde Gang, that's all I can say. See you again Baba Yaga. }

And with that, the place came back to an eerie silence, meanwhile, in front of John, A transparent black panel materialized before him, filled with options, each accompanied by an explanation.

[ John Wick POV ]

Uncertainty and hope collided within me, each vying for dominance over my tumultuous heart. My mind was awash with questions, and I struggled to make sense of my surroundings.

How did I end up in this unfamiliar place, and who was it that spoke to me with such ominous words? Was it a figment of my imagination, a desperate dream conjured from the depths of my grief?

Yet, even amid the confusion, a flicker of hope remained. The entity that addressed me had promised the impossible: a chance to reunite with my beloved wife once more.

It was a glimmer of light in the darkness of my despair.

As I grappled with my conflicting emotions, I realized that it was better to cling to hope than to be consumed by sorrow. I took comfort in the possibility of a reunion, no matter how impossible it may seem.

After all, what is life without hope?

With a deep breath, I steeled myself, determined to complete the mission that had been entrusted to me.

"Alright, I'm ready," I replied, trying to steady my voice.

I had scrutinized each option presented to me with the utmost care, but deep down, a nagging doubt still tugged at my heart. Was all of this real or just a figment of my imagination?

Despite my skepticism, I had chosen the options that seemed most familiar and versatile to me, grasping at anything that might help me complete my mission.

As I waited for the next step, I couldn't help but wonder if I had made the right choices. Would they be enough to help me navigate the unfamiliar world that lay ahead?

But amidst the uncertainty, a glimmer of hope pulsed within me like a beacon. The possibility of reuniting with my beloved wife was too precious to let slip through my fingers. The mere thought of her was enough to make my heart clench, my fingers tightening into fists.

If this was all real, then it was worth the risk. If there was even the slightest chance of seeing her again, I would take it, no matter the cost.

As I braced myself for the journey ahead, I felt a sense of determination settle over me like a cloak. I would face whatever lay ahead with courage and grit, clinging to the hope that burned bright within my heart.

Yet, I knew I had to choose something, so I selected the most versatile and familiar option, hoping it would serve me well in this strange new world.

Suddenly, a blinding light engulfed me, and my body began to blur as if time itself was passing by in a blur.

Memories flooded my mind, overwhelming me with a torrent of emotions, and I felt my consciousness begin to fade.

Just as I was about to lose all sense of self, a voice reached me, clear and sweet like a bell ringing out in a still night. It was a voice I knew all too well, the only light in my gray-blooded world.

"Take care, John," she said, and I knew without a doubt that it was her.

A sense of longing filled me, and I reached out towards the voice, hoping to touch her one last time before I was gone. But my hand found nothing but air, and my body was pulled inexorably into the blinding light, leaving me with nothing but a flicker of hope in my heart.
