After the dream, Sipher didn't feel like getting out of bed, so he stood there, half asleep, thinking about his situation at the academy.
"The second day of school began. I can already tell I'm going to be a loner, because I'm an orphan with no relative or friend in the academy. Even in the outer academy, I was also a loner, trying to rush my cultivation, so I can get into the inner academy sooner. And even if I did, most people are stuck in the outer academy until they turn 17, because one needs to advance before they turn 17, or in very few exceptions until shortly after they turn 17, for them to be accepted in the inner academy, and those with exceptional talent are accepted in the inner academy even if their first advancement comes later, but those are so rare that they are literally the exceptions which confirm the rules."
"Added to the difficulty of making friends, is the fact that, from what I heard while in the outer academy, those in the inner academy are basically indoctrinated to focus on aura advancements and ignore making friends at least until their third advancement, which usually happens by the age of 50, with the second advancement usually happening around the age of 30. Even kissing is rarely done before one's first advancement, for the same reason of accumulating impurities, but people who can control their aura can avoid sending it into eachother's bodies, in order to avoid adding impurities to eachother's bodies. And it requires a great deal of trust to let yourself be kissed by someone who could intentionally send their aura into your body in order to slow down your cultivation and lower the maximum level you can reach."
"I guess the whole thing from my initial world with virgins who turn 30 becoming wizards actually makes sense in this world, because having intercourse before the second advancement introduces significant amounts of aura impurities into the bodies of the participants. Most of those who have a high chance to pass the third advancement end up holding off at least until they have passed it, even though at that point the amount of impurities absorbed into the body through the act ends up being negligible. In other words, we're basically monks and nuns. But considering the extended lifespans caused by each advancement, I guess the age does check out with the age of consent in my first life. But that doesn't mean I shouldn't make friends. "
After a long time spent thinking half-asleep, he was finally awake enough to get out of bed and prepare for the second day of school. This day would be the last day in which the whole group of people would be together, and starting next week everyone would be in a different class. The second half of today would also be spent in a different class, so that means knowing people outside of your specialty becomes more difficult after today, for those who don't already have friends in the inner academy. The first half of the day would be spent telling people what specialties they were allowed in at their current level, after which it was up to each individual to look at the schedule and decide which classes to go to.
The classes were set up so they don't overlap, which was done to allow people to take as many classes as they wanted. However, the classes were in session only during the weekends, the rest of the week being used to train in those specialties, and everyone had to decide how much of their time was to be spent on any of the specialties they were allowed to join, as well as anything else they could be doing in their free time.
Sipher suddenly realized that, if he mastered the Aura Eyes technique to a high-enough level, he might even be able to remove impurities from his body with or without the use of pills, which would allow him to advance further than otherwise, but he would need to be at least at the third level, which meant passing the second advancement in order to open the Third Eye, the Mind's Eye, and see the entirety of his body from a different perspective, as well as to see everything around him, instead of just merely sensing everything kind-of like with a 3D radar of dubious quality. The Aura Eyes was truly a cheat, in as much as it could be considered as such. But only at the fourth level, after the third advancement, would he be able to properly use remote viewing at distances long-enough to be useful in anything other than very-short-distance combat, but even until then, he could still use it to copy the way others move aura in and around their bodies, or use that against them. Predicting the enemy's attack is one way to use it, but the most dangerous way is to directly mess with the enemy's attack, and in the case of melee attacks, this can lead to introducing impurities in the enemy's body, or even crippling them. But for an alchemist who did not intend to focus on fighting, this would be the best self-defense technique, because, with enough training, it could be used to counter most attacks at the same level, and even plenty of attacks above his level. He realizes just how much trust the librarian has put in him, when he was sold this technique.
While walking to the cafeteria, he realized something. Yesterday, during the exam, he realized how slow he is thinking, how shallow his thoughts are, and little information he can hold in his mind at any one time. It seems he can access the memories from his higher self, but only at the speed his current life's soul can currently access them at, which is highly limited by his current body. So he's 14 in both mind and body, even if he has a lifetime of knowledge accessible to him.
The cafeteria is unusually quiet from the outside, and after stepping inside, Spiher realizes the reason. There is an teacher sitting next to a male student who was injured and is being treated by a male doctor who uses aura to heal a stab in the student's hand, while another student trembles on the his knees in front of the teacher. Since the scene feels familiar to fantasy stories from his first life, Sipher decides to try using the Aura Eyes technique, and even without being able to see aura with his eyes, his eyes start stinging while his vision is stuck on the teacher, which means a high amount of aura is released. Due to the stinging sensation, Sip turns off the Aura Eyes technique, for the time being. After the injured student is done being treated, and after the previously-injured student checks to make sure everything works as intended, the teacher, the doctor, and the student kneeling in front of the teacher, suddenly disappear shortly after Sip's Aura Eyes get activated by themselves, and he sees a faded flash of light as the three disappear.
After those events, people quietly get the food and eat, nobody being in the mood for talking, fearing that they might start something which would get the teachers angry. It seems that Sipher cannot use this chance to talk with anyone.
In front of the classroom, everyone stood still in complete silence, lined up in a square grid (as opposed to rhomb grid, hexagonal grid, and so on), with roughly an arm's length of distance between everyone, with a few of them reading from a book, and one of them playing with a knife which has a ring on the bottom, which lets one use that knife more easily in a reverse grid, with the blade going away from the pinky finger, instead of away from the index finger, as it's being held, but the handle and the blade being in a straight line, with the knife only having one cutting edge. The girl is trying to balance the knife on one finger, but often fails to do so, and has to catch the knife before it falls too low.

After around half an hour of waiting later, the teacher finally arrives, telling the students to follow him, and after everyone got on a seat in the room they were guided to by the teacher, each student is called to the teacher's desk, where they talk without the rest of the people hearing their voices or seeing their faces. It seems an aura technique was used to keep the privacy of the students.
After Sipher is called, he is notified what the results of his test are, what were the reasons why points were deduced or the maximum points were not offered, as well as what caused him to be allowed to take what classes. The teacher starts:
"For the first question, you did not get full points because you did not mention that spread sigils are static, but there is some overlap with moving sigils, which means a small portion of the spread sigils can move without being called moving sigils. Those parts are often used to change how the sigils work. For example, you can use a lever to control how much energy is used by a light-producing sigil, or to change the color, and sigils for emergency light signals often include a pulsing light, but the cheap sigils require you to turn on and off the lights by yourself, or control the intensity of the light by yourself. You also didn't give examples, which is why you got half the points for the first question."
"The second question. You seem to no longer want to fight, or at least no longer want to use it as your main path, but you should not stop training to fight, because you never know when you will have to fight for your life. Becoming an alchemist or an enchanter might seem less dangerous, but that's only because people don't use normal weapons to fight, for the most part. An alchemist can make explosive pills, poison pills, and smoke pills. An enchanter can use enchanted items instead, in a fight. As much as people are pursuing peace, just as much if not more they will end up fighting, because whenever you have something worth having, other people will want to take it. The reason the academy exists, is to make sure that people don't steal and kill just because they can, because allowing that has already caused too many gods to fall from grace, and the number of aura masters who fell doing those things is so high that we stopped counting after reaching the fist trillion. The path of alchemy and enchanting is, however, safer, because there are a lot of them compared to weapon aura users that their services are always wanted, to the point where weapon aura users are gladly defending them in order to get on their good side and be allowed to buy things from them at a lower price than others. Plus that attacking alchemists and enchanters is looked down upon, because those help the other cultivators while they get better in their path, while weapon cultivators mostly focus on fighting others, which causes injuries which need to get treated by healers, alchemists, and enchanters. But too many of non-combatant paths ignore weapon training completely, which has caused the demise of too many of them. One hour a day for weapon training is the bare minimum needed to progress on the path of weapons enough to be able to at least defend yourself from one attack, before you can start making use of alchemy and enchantments."
"Fourth question. Acceptable answer. It's good to not overestimate yourself, and making yourself seem weaker will also help you some times, but if you underestimate yourself too much, others will think you're weaker and less useful than you really are, which is very likely to significantly slow down your progress and the benefits you can get by showing your real capabilities."
"Fifth requirement. Quite a few things. As you progress, the amount of skills you can choose from also increases, so you will end up needing to ignore some skills, in order to make the best use of, as well as advance, the skills which are most useful to you. This can mean that you reached low levels of mastery with a lot of skills, but high levels of mastery with only a few of them, some even manage to master only one skill, but mastering too few things also has very significant downsides. 'If all you have is a sword, then everyone is an enemy. If all you have is a cooking pot, then everyone needs to eat.' Make sure you know enough things to not fall prey to stupidity like that. If you have both a sword and a cooking pot, you can use the sword to cut enemies, as well as use it to cut food which ends up cooked in the cooking pot. I hope you take this example to heart."
"Third question. Ignoring a few complicated sentences which were written wrongly, but which I understood what you wanted to say, what you wrote is interesting. The example is something which already happens, to a degree. The merchants from your example often use those enchantments you mentioned, which is why the price is increased. And if the merchants didn't use them, then the farmers would need to use them, and most of the farmers cannot afford to buy them, and would rather spend the money on better tools or more land to work on. But if you can somehow reduce the price to the point where they are no longer too expensive for normal people who cannot use aura or do not have aura to spare, then that could easily make a region richer than the surrounding regions."
"So you're allowed to go to weapon classes, alchemy classes, enchanting classes, and because of how you wrote the glyph in the practical exam, also to the healing classes. My suggestion is to take all of them until you advance from Copper to Iron level. It will take two times as long, but it will increase your chances to pass the advancement from Iron to Silver level. If you have questions, ask, and if you don't, get back to your seat and after the end of the class, go to the map placed at multiple points in the building, and then go to the classes you want to go to. While you are allowed by the results of this test to go to the classes I mentioned, you can still talk with the teachers, in order to see if they let you join the class, but most teachers require you to work for in their field for one day a week, in most cases you need to work directly for the teacher or for some group the teacher is a part of, and the more you work in fields other than your own, the more time you spend not advancing in your field. Think carefully about your future, before you go asking other teachers to join heir classes. If you have no questions, then you can get back to your seat."
After listening for quite a while, Sipher shakes his head to deny having any questions, then goes back to his seat. The teacher's words made him think deeply, and he eventually found himself starring at the map, which was a room view showed 3 buildings drawn in black ink, with one wall having a red line which signifies the map on the wall it's attached to.
So far, the only classes Sipher is allowed to go to are the Weapons class from 9 to 12, the healing class from 12 to 13, the alchemy class form 13 to 14, and the enchanting class from 15 to 16. For his level, at least. For other levels, there are different hours. The healing classes seem to always be after the weapon classes, which is likely in order to have the healers heal the fighters.
The time was almost the 13th hour, which meant he could still go to the alchemy class, if he wanted. The first lesson was always an introductory lesson, in which people were told a few things, but most of the time was spent by having people look at the teacher showing some fancy high-level application of the path taught in that class. For alchemy, Sipher heard it was often a smoke pill, which gets dropped in front of the kids, kitting the ground and exploding shortly after a shield is used to cover the pill and the new students. While he was not fond of that welcome, he was definitely interested of how to make and how to use it effectively, so he started walking to the alchemy room. The door was closed, and there was already a crowd in front of the class, and it was as quiet as the wait in front of the school, but everyone was packed together due to the lack of space and needing to leave space for the teachers and other students to pass through.
And after a few minutes of waiting, a male teacher approached. And then the male teacher passed through without stopping. Then another male teacher. Then a female teacher. Then another female teacher. Then another male teacher. Then another female teacher. Then the last female teacher looked at a nearby map, then turned back towards our group, then instead of passing through, she stopped and moved towards the door, opened the door, turned around and told the waiting students to get in and not teach anything, because even a light touch will cause the whole group to instantly die. However, the strange thing was that not even a single person was able to look at her, instead, everyone just heard her moving and knew she's a female teacher and not a male one. Sip hoped she will tell them why that was the case.
