Eve’s voice sang a familiar nursery rhyme in my mind. On each line, a vision was replayed within my inner eyes.
A red sky burns…
A city was being engulfed within flames brought on by magic. Once magnificent and solid structures of brick and mortar were crumbling to the ground to bury people on the below roads with debris.
The magical fire was turning the sky red and black, making the flying, winged reptilian monsters more vivid to the human eye. Fire was being spewed out of their snouts to hit civilians on the streets.
The air reeked of a rotten stench of sulfur and iron. It was charged with fear, panic and malice from the monsters.
One thousand men bleed…
The streets were suddenly overwhelmed with knights in their navy suits and patchwork overcoats. They were casting their magic and weapons to bring the monsters down. The atmosphere was being pierced by the jarring sounds of bullets being released, and magic being expelled.
However, the monsters were partially immune to the attacks and brushing them off like they were mere grazes to their scaly skin. They swooped for the knights, causing damages and making many of them bleed with their attacks.
But the knights weren’t giving up. They were fighting and protecting with everything they could muster.
A fire breathes…
Sounds of a might roar shook the skies. Every monster was retreating. Although this gave the knights a moment of respite, they knew that something more catastrophic was about to occur. None of them were about to give up. Their spirit to fight for humanity charged the atmosphere with hope, which allowed some of them to dowse the flames across the skies.
As soon as a semblance of calmness had been restored. The entire sky suddenly ignited with explosions and flames to make it burn an unnatural and demonic red.
The wyrd is freed…
The hearts of many knights fell into dismay and lost hope as they spied the largest and deadliest winged reptilian demon cover the fiery skies with ease and one swoop.
Its voice boomed with threatening tones, shattering more buildings and structures to have them crashing down around human survivors, which were mere ants to it.
“This wyrd thanks humankind for setting me free. And so shall your destiny be doom.” Its voice made the ground tremble and the atmosphere charged with its gloating and demonic chi, filled with animosity.

High-pitched shrieking was released from its snout to cause people to yelp and cry out with anguish as they felt their heads about to explode. A group of knights cried out spells to counter the wyrd’s sonic attack and dispel the effects. This only excited the wyrd more, so it continued to release wave after wave of the ear-piercing attack. Making the human structures beneath it explode.
Thrice it burns...
The wyrd opened its snout to cause more flames across the sky. It swooped across the length of three tier cities to make them burn and be devoured.
Twice they churn…
A group of knights were rushing for their last call of defense and victory against the wyrd. They set the four tier city pillar towers to a blaze with magic, so it burned like a beacon of hope and white fire into the sky. The four pillar towers poured white magic into the air with two, synchronized, pulses.
Four score, a host of the darkest night bring…
But this hope was actioned with trickery. The outline of a portal shimmered across the sky, stirring watery impressions of more reptilian monsters and demons waiting for their time to enter humankind’s world. Four sonic waves were cast across the sky to dowse the fire and turn it pitch black. A bloody darkness descended upon humanity.

I gasped as I felt my mind being picked and pulled apart at the sound of the rhyme, then be reassembled at its end. When I opened my eyes, I saw a still motion of the Hana Bridge scene. It was paused at the moment, I was being overwritten within the column of gold light.
I saw the black haired young knight being blasted by white light, so only a section of his recoiling head and body could be seen. A swell of magic orange, yellow, green and blue fire were approaching him from all sides. Behind the magic were the gloating and snarling snouts of reptilian monsters. Their mouths opened wide for the man's head. Some of them were gnawing on the metal of the apparatus.
My eyes could move, but my body was fixed in position, like the rest of the scene surrounding me.
Eve’s image stepped into my view. Her body glowed a golden, watery, hue due to the column's gold light wall between us.
Various colored lichen crawled into view at her back, to overwrite the image until all I saw was one big mossy wall. My body was freed. I saw myself as Neven standing before her.
“What’ve I’ve shown you is a warning, as well as a truth.”
Her voice held her usual melodic tone, but I sensed a strong foreboding.
“The name I give you, you’re going to heed it. The herensuge is close. Calling this name will bring upon needed skills locked within your ego.”
Sharp pain coursed through my being. I felt the name being stabbed into every part of me, especially the deep recesses of my subconsciousness and the parts that formed my instincts.
“Now say the name.” Eve ordered me.
I huffed and allowed my being to be calm when I searched through my recent memory. It didn’t take much to see it there.
“Waybearer.” My voice rebounded around my consciousness.
Eve nodded.
“When the time calls for it, the name will appear. Be ready then.”
Her voice faded along with the vision.
I woke to a new day and turned my head to see Kalia still peacefully asleep in her cot.
