Chapter 5; Absurd Power

An hour later Shui Yuhan finally found the reason why he felt very powerful.

“No wonder I feel suddenly confident.” He said. “No one would not be confident if they have this ability…” Currently, he was standing in the middle of his room. Strangely, every object in the room was cleared out, pushed in the corners. It made a wide empty space around him. Shui Yuhan looked at the mess he made and smiled. “I’ll just pretend to be playing house.”

After experiencing that uncomfortable feeling, Shui Yuhan obtained an amazing ability. He was able to push everything away from him, and draw everything towards him, just like the violet star. He guessed that he obtained the ability that moment he saw the vision and it just manifested today. But he did not know why or how he obtained it. He read the books but none of them mentioned an ability that doesn’t need qi to use.

His newfound power was incredibly powerful. It doesn’t need qi and can last for an indefinite period of time. Shui Yuhan did not dare to test his power inside the house anymore. It only ended like this because he quickly stopped at the right moment, if not, he was sure their little house would have burst. Luckily, his parents already left to the library to consult about the change that occurred in his eyes to Yan Yimu and was not able to notice the commotion.

At noon, Shui Xieren and Yan Xinyi returned with serious faces.

“What do you think? Do you believe what grandfather said?“ Asked Yan Xinyi

“Although it sounds absurd, I do think there’s a possibility.” Shui Xieren said as he looked at Shui Yuhan who showed an innocent face.

“Really unbelievable” He said  “That our son has been blessed by nature”

“Well” Yan Xinyi said  “Grandfather did say that a huge change in appearance, such as a sudden change in eye color, is the result of being gifted. We cannot rule out the possibility that it’s just a simple mutation caused by something.”

Unbeknownst to them, Shui Yuhan could actually understand their conversation. ‘A blessing from nature huh… It’s highly possible. Could it be a blessing from the violet star?’ He wondered ‘But I feel that it’s not the right answer.’

“Let’s just hope that it won’t cause a problem to his health.” Yan Xinyi said.

“We’ll just wait and see.” Shui Xieren said.

At night when his parents were asleep, Shui Yuhan sneaked out of the house while feeling guilty for no reason. “I’m just going to test my power.” He argued to his conscience. At the backyard, he saw the half destroyed boulder still lying there.

“Now then, let’s see what I can do.” He said and extended his palm towards it. With a mere thought, a pushing force burst out from his palm. The winds retreated and the leaves were scattered away from him. A tree facing his palm bended backward, many of its branches snapped and flew away.

“So powerful…” He said, sucking cold air as he watched. He knew he could unleash an even more powerful pushing force but if he did that, he might cause another commotion which would wake his parents.

“Could it be controlled so that I could fly?” He wondered. He decided to test this idea. He released the pushing force in the ground to propel him upward. However, the force only pushed the ground and it did nothing to propel him up.

As he was about to give up the idea of flying, his soul released a powerful shockwave to the surroundings. The shockwave had the aura of defiance and it forcefully tore all the laws that restricted it. Shui Yuhan had the feeling that time stopped and that he was separated from the world at that moment. He was thinking why annoying shockwaves kept coming from him every time, when he suddenly felt as light as clouds.

He looked down only to find that his foot was not touching the ground, he was floating. “…”

‘Im really sorry, I shouldn’t have thought badly of you. Please come more often Shockwave sensei.’ He thought sincerely.

‘But this feeling, it’s extremely familiar.’ He thought of his time at the field of stars. He was able to fly around as a soul and even ignore the constraint of space.  Thinking that, he moved around in the same way he moved back then as a soul. His small body flew around in the air, he found it very easy to fly that he felt like it was his second nature.

When he finally calmed down, he started to believe that he was really blessed by nature. However, even someone who knew little would not believe that the blessing of nature is as absurd as Shui Yuhan believed it to be. You would not find a single human in history that is able to fly with the cultivation of a body tempering realm.

After comforting himself that he wasn’t the only abnormal one, he quietly flew into the direction of the mountain near the village. It was where the people collect their herbs. When Shui Yuhan looked below, he could see beasts roaming around even though it was dark.

He descended on a spot where there was no beast in vicinity. “Seems like a good spot to train.” He said. In his mind, he already constructed a schedule. Sleep in the day, sneak out in the night. No one would be suspicious if a baby sleeps all day long.

Confirming that it’s a good spot, Shui Yuhan started to release his power. A mysterious force spread from him in every direction. Cracking sounds resounded everywhere as every tree near him snapped and some became uprooted. After a while, the area around him had become a large clearing with broken trees and soil pushed at the corner. All the beasts who noticed it fled.

Looking at this scene, Shui Yuhan was not surprised. He expected something like this to happen, but he still did not seriously use his power. If he did, he was afraid he would create a dessert out of the forest.

“Now what would happen if I focused it?” He said. He walked to a rock and put his palm on it. From his palm, he released a concentrated force upon the rock and it immediately exploded to pieces under his shocked gaze. None of the fragments touched him as they were all pushed away from him. He stood there in daze as he looked at the direction where the fragments had gone.

Then he remembered that he was not the only one blessed by nature. “Surely, there are others who are more abnormal.”

After that incident, he simultaneously trained his power to control both repulsive and attractive force in the forest. Every night, he would unnoticeably sneak out of the house to train and cultivate.

“I wonder when will I be able to release both forces at the same time.” He said as he looked at the night sky filled with stars.
