Chapter 1: The Beginning.
An hour before his death, a family of five can be seen busily eating their meal. Except for one man who sat quietly in the corner, eating his breakfast in solitude
Anyone can immediately tell, that this family is quite well off, based on how fancy their food is, and the fact that they have maids to assist them with their needs.
Plates upon plates of expensive-looking dishes composed of seafood and different kinds of meat can be seen displayed on their luxurious wooden table.
This is the Ling family, one of the most prominent family in the province of Fangzhou.
In fact, they have several business ventures including real estate, malls, and casino and some of their relatives is also an influential politician. But despite all of this wealth, Ling Feng. the second child of the Ling family is suffering from depression, and of course, his family doesn’t know it.
Ling Feng grew up in a family that doesn’t lack anything.
Due to this, if he has something he desires he can immediately get it from his parents. It comes to the point, that he lost the feeling of excitement due to how easy it is, for him to acquire everything.
Ling Feng felt like he was alone in this world with no one to talk to as Ling Feng is the middle child among the 3.
His parents are always occupied with their work, while his siblings are busy competing with one another to become the rightful owner of their company. Since all of them are born 1 year apart from one another.
Even though they only have a 1-year gap from one another they all have different hobbies that make it harder for Ling Feng to speak with them on the same boat.
This kind of relationship leads to despair, for the young fragile mind of Ling Feng.
He always feels jealous of his classmate every time saw them with their siblings, or parents having a warm conversation with one another.
Unlike his own family, who don’t have enough time for each other.
Due to this reason, Ling Feng grew up to be a timid and quiet child, unlike his 2 other siblings.
At first, his parents thought that he was just an obedient child due to his nature. And this misunderstanding between them has led to one kind after another, a cycle with no end.
Both of his parents thought that their child Ling Feng is just naturally a kind and quiet man, but the truth is, this child is already asking for help as he was already drowning in despair without them knowing.
Depression can hit anyone for any reason, but a lot of people didn’t know it and this is exactly what happen to him.
Money! They said that once you have the money you could do anything you want.
If you want to be happy, then you only need to have a lot of money and you can buy anything you want, but none of this expensive stuff could give him an ounce of happiness.
Yes! His family is wealthy and powerful, but he doesn’t even have real friends, to begin with.
Most of his self-proclaim friends are after his family's influence in business or politics, they are just using him for their own greed.
He discovered all of this when he is in grade school.
At that time, he is still optimistic about his school life hoping to make a lot of friends.
At first, he thought that his classmates really like to be with him as they always shower him with praise, but then he found out the truth.
The hard truth that he doesn’t want to hear.
While doing his own business inside the cubicle in the men’s comfort room he suddenly heard a familiar voice outside of his cubicle talking about him.
That familiar voice comes from the closest person he has in school whom he treats as his best friend.
He heard them having a conversation, about how their parents forced them to socialize with him, in order for their family to get some benefits from him.
He doesn’t wanna confront them about this issue, and he just let it all go, but he has never forgotten about it nor has any attachment to them.
This event has truly changed Ling Feng as a person.
Sure, he still talked with some of them, but this is also the time, that he became a quiet kid who loves to observe everything around him.
This is the time Ling Feng realizes that greed is applicable to everyone. Whether they are rich or not.
This is an innate human nature.
We, humans, want more things, and we would never get contented with what we have.
We are blinded by our own greed, but he knows that not all people are like this.
There are still some, who are not interested in materialistic things, though it’s a very rare case nowadays.
This society is shaped by rich folks so that they would get a lot of benefits from it. While the poor could only struggle to reach the top.
Music is the only thing that kept him going.
Sometimes he would always think about his purpose in existence.
The cycle of human life is very general. Once, when you are just a kid, you are expected to behave like one, but once you reach your teenage years, this is the time, for you to find your own path.
The path is about the goals and dreams that you want to achieve in life.
~~~~~
Adulthood is the age when we find security in our partners and have a child.
This cycle repeats itself infinitely, if you are different from the norm of society then you are excluded.
A lot of people thought that depression is just a thing that you have in mind. That the only thing you need to do is to have a happy thought and always think positively to cure it. But they never know what it felt like, to have one.
But Ling Feng felt it for the last couple of years that he is alive.
He feels lonely and sad every day, he tried to be happy by doing everything, but nothing is working.
Now, he is wondering what to do in his life.
Thankfully, there are a lot of wonderful and great artists out there.
They create music with different themes and messages.
He didn’t expect that a piece of simple music can make him feel alive again and at the same time, He feels like someone has finally understood him.
He felt like he finally found his purpose in life and that it was to be a musician.
Ling Feng studied hard to become an artist, from any genre and any musical instrument.
But everything is in vain, as Ling Feng knows that he is dying he doesn’t even know what are the expectations of his parents for him, but it’s already too late since he doesn’t have any more time to think about it. As Ling Feng has already closed his eyes.
Ling Feng thought that it would be the end of everything.
But he never knew that it was just the beginning.
When Ling Feng regains his consciousness, he found himself in a void floating in nothingness as an orb of soul. There’s no sound nor light around him just pure darkness.
Ling Feng doesn’t know how long did he stay there, but he is always contemplating his last moment in life together with his family.
“Next time, if I had a second chance I want to change everything.” He thought off before he goes back to humming his favorite song.
Though he can only do that by thinking.
He doesn’t know how is it possible since he doesn’t have a body anymore, but he is still capable of thinking and can still remember his past memory.
Ling Feng thought that he was sent to this place as a punishment, for wasting his life.
And because of this, he spent most of his time praying in his mind for forgiveness and for another chance to redeem himself.
----------------------
He already lost count of long did he stay in that place.
He doesn’t even have any idea how many years, decades, or even centuries have passed by.
It’s only with the help of music that he was able to retain his sanity over a long time, spending countless times in this void alone.
He always sings the songs he likes, in his mind to keep himself awake the entire time.
He spent a long time doing that same thing. Until he saw it…….. The light.
At the end of the void, a tunnel of light suddenly appears that gives him hope to get out of this place.
He did everything to swim towards it, even though the void keeps on pulling him back towards his place.
Until he felt something.
“Warmth, it feels warm” Ling Feng thought off happily.
Even though the void keeps on pulling him back to its cradle, Ling Feng resisted it with all his might until he managed to touch the end of this light.
Ling Feng immediately felt like a warm jelly have covered him when he pass by the tunnel of light, then everything went black as he loses consciousness.
The next time he woke up, he only felt so comfortable floating in a strange place.
But this time, Ling Feng is floating but not in a void as it felt different.
It’s warm unlike in that place.
He tried his best to kick and flail his arms but something seems to be stopping him from moving around.
When he suddenly realized it.
In his utter shock Ling Feng, have realized, that he, once again, has arms and legs, and not just a floating orb of soul.
“When was the last time I have these appendages with me?” Ling Feng thought happily as he stopped moving.
“Is this the answer I was looking for, for the wish that I made on my last life?” Ling Feng thought off once again as he started to enjoy the feeling of moving his arms and legs.
“Am I, inside a womb?” He suddenly asks himself in disbelief.
“Wow! I don’t know how should I feel about this.” He thought off, as he doesn’t know what to do now, that he was going to be born again with intact memories from his past life.
“Then I should do as I promised last time.” Ling Feng firmly thought off as he remember his past life where he spent most of his time in agony due to disassociating himself from other people.
“I would not spend it in misery anymore, instead I would always make the best of every moment of my life.” Ling Feng thought off before falling asleep as he already exhausted himself from moving his undeveloped body.
------------------------~~~~~~
Meanwhile, in the land of mortal in the kingdom of Lin, the king is currently walking back and forth outside a room as he was waiting for the diagnosis of the royal physician for the queen who is now in the last month of pregnancy.
“What’s your diagnosis elder Zhou? Is there anything wrong with our baby and my wife?” Nervously asked by the king towards an old man who has a long white beard.
“Your majesty, there is nothing to worry about. The child on the queen’s stomach is safe. It’s only showing his excitement towards its incoming birth.” Said by elder Zhou as he bows his head together with the entourage of royal nurses.
“What do you mean that there’s nothing wrong? The baby is rampaging on the queen’s stomach and my wife is in pain. Something must have happened to the baby. Maybe I should give her a healing Dan pill it might help her endure the pain.” The king said angrily before taking a seat.
“There is no need to do that, your majesty. I already check everything about the queen's health and there’s really nothing wrong with her. It’s just that, the baby is full of energy, if I’m not wrong it’s because of the presence of abundant qi in the queen's stomach is the reason for the child’s sudden rampage. The child should be a boy as only something like that could show that kind of strength at a young age.” Elder Zhou said happily as he tries to calm down the king.
Elder Zhou is happy that after a decade of waiting the kingdom of Lin has finally had a proper heir.
“I knew it. I shouldn’t let her consume that herb.” Angrily said by the king as he smash his hands towards the chair's handle, breaking it in the process.
“The herbs were given to her by her cultivation family your highness, I’m sure they mean her well, and besides that herb is a great tonic for the queen. It would give her all the energy she needs for her incoming childbirth.” Patiently explained by the old Physician as even himself is envious of the queen for consuming such an important herb.
It's an immortal treasure that cannot be found on any mortal land it’s a 4th-grade ginseng, capable of extending the life of any mortal and known for its nourishing property that’s even enough to cause a breakthrough in strength.
Even this old Physician Zhou is only at a 9th-grade qi gathering realm far from the strength of the queen who is now a low-tier foundation establishment.
The queen is not just a normal lady from a rich noble clan.
As she comes from a prominent cultivation family in the Immortal continent.
In order for her to marry the mortal king of Lin, the queen has given up her status as one of the young miss of the Xue clan.
Although she isn’t the daughter of the Xue patriarch, her Grandmother is still one of the elders of the Xue family, with a Golden Core Realm cultivation.
Something that mortals considered as Gods in this world.
But even with that kind of strength, the Xue clan is only considered as a small cultivation family in the Immortal continent as there are more powerful people and sects behind them.
In this world, cultivation is possible, but not all humans are lucky to have a talent in this field.
In every ten thousand humans only 1 person is able to cultivate.
That’s why it's very common for cultivators to marry other cultivators since this is the best way to have descendants that have a talent for cultivation. The higher the realm of the parent is, the higher the talent of their child.
Most of the people in this world have only seen a Qi cultivator in their life, which is already considered as a great man among the mortals since it was not easy to encounter someone who is already above this realm in the mortal continent.
As most of the Immortal cultivators are concentrated in one supercontinent called as the immortal continent, which is located at the center of this world.
There are a total of 7 continents on this world, but only 1 continent has the title of immortal land. Since it has the richest qi reserves among the 7 lands and it’s also the biggest land among the 7 continents making it the richest and most powerful land among them.
The remaining 6 continents are considered to be a mortal land as the qi on this place is sparse and full of filth that is harmful for cultivation.
But it doesn’t mean that there are no cultivators in this mortal land, In fact, the 6 continents have the biggest number of Qi-gathering practitioners as most of them have remained in this realm for a long time due to their environment.
This planet is also a hundred times bigger than Earth as even a powerful person with a Golden core realm would take months to cross from one continent to another.
It’s very difficult to advance in cultivation if a practitioner stays in the mortal land, due to a lot of reasons. But mainly due to the lack of abundant Qi and natural resources that are helpful for advancement so most of the people in the mortal land are trapped in the Qi gathering stage.
