‘So she does sleep.’ He had previously thought that to himself when he saw her like that. Immediately, the twelve year old child, who once lived to be twenty, began searching every nook and cranny of the small space. A quill feather pen, stuffed inside a case with other study materials, was the perfect tool he needed to pull off his prank.
With the feather trained at Alexandra’s nose, Kieran inched it closer. Teal and Lilith, who had been watching the whole thing, stiffly nodded their approval. Their eyes were glued onto the prank in progress.
The feather was less than a hair away from her nose when he noticed something. A small thin pink patch of skin stood in contrast to Alexandra’s overall paler tone. It was hidden under the right side of her chin, a scar left from a fight or battle a long time ago. As he looked at her face, more of those alien scars appeared-no, revealed themselves. There was one at the top of her forehead, one more by the lobe of her ear, and another on the end of her left eye. They weren’t obvious or easy to see by any means but he’d known her all of his life and yet he never saw them before.

A jolt ran through all of them at the same moment. The quill pin, that had been pointing at Alexandra’s nose, was now stuck between her fingers. With a light tug, the pen was stolen out of his hands.
“I see you are eager to begin your lessons. Teal, may I ask that you assist the Young Master?”
“Y-Yes, ma’am.”
Lilith pretended to stare out the window as if she didn't know what just happened.
Alexandra’s voice left no room to argue and so the two of them were forced to study up until the point where Teal couldn’t bear to look at the paper anymore and had to step outside to calm her dizziness. Needless to say, they left Alexandra alone for the rest of the ride.
