"So... I failed again, huh"
Dead eyes stared out the open window. It was midday and the street was full of people around the market place. The colorful street stalls brought all manners of goods from exotic fruits to trinkets from distant lands. The shouts of bargains filled the air along with the scent of spices, truly Greenriver city was the picture of prosperity and joy he thought as he watched the crowd go about their day.
And he hated every minute of it.

How annoying.
It didn't take more than a few minutes before he could hear multiple footsteps racings towards him. A glance upwards showed him the frantic appearance of his "mother", how disgust welled within him to call her such, before she rushed over to hug him towards her chest.
"Xiao Long! Are you alright?!" She screamed in his ears, he could see she was on the verge of crying and he doubted it would've been the first time from how red and puffy her eyes looked. "It'll be ok, Mother's here. Mother's here now." She said as she rocked him against her bosom. Whether the words were to comfort him or herself was up in the air judging by how see seemed to be having an anxiety attack at the look of him. He didn't reply and she seemed content with just making sure he was alive and in her arms.
Maybe he shouldn't be surprised considering how he had attempted to kill himself by jumping off the roof.
