Rebel in the Abyss
Prologue part 2. Birth of a Rebel

Prologue part 2. Birth of a Rebel

In a dimensional gap above Estallius, lived a being outcast by the gods and feared by demons. A mysterious figure paced back and forth in a dark room.

I have to inform the world about the fact an asura was being born. At the same time I have to avert the gazes of those crazed gods. An asura can destroy the balance between the continents. I will sacrifice a bit of my magic, to create wonderland that can drastically increase the growth of adventurers before the asura is born, and I will have to erase their memories before they leave so even if a god peaks through their memories, they will not know I exist. This wonderland won’t be permanent, but I will use their experience, magic, and the remnants of this to make a continent, with the sole purpose of strengthening adventurers to combat the asura.

The mysterious figure summoned four cores, one translucent, one purple, one black, and one iridescent. They represented the figure’s four elements; time, space, darkness, and life. The mysterious figure combined the cores and crushed the complete core, and particles of the core spread out into vast nothingness in the gap, then gradually started transforming into a large island. The mysterious figure coughed up blood, as a consequence of crushing the core. Once a figure surpasses the limits of a human, they can create a type of back of cores, that they can use to resurrect from, but they had to be connected to them, which would cause a backlash if destroyed prematurely. This figure sacrificed this second life, to create this island, that with the principles of life, space, and time made it possible to sustain life.

The mysterious figure altered their appearance, into that of a giant eyeball. It left through the gap, arriving above Estallius. The eye used life magic to find the strongest adventurers around Longius and Spiralous who also didn’t have any stigma of a god. The eye brought all adventurers it could find A rank and above, using space-time mage to teleport them, so they didn’t even have a chance of resisting. The eye even dragged along a freshly killed land dragon king corpse.

Thousands of adventurers were taken away in an instant. This would’ve been a big disturbance if a single one had a connection with the king of Longius, as he, his retainers, and his kin has been stigmatized. Adventurers would never join the king, as they knew the king would force them into war without any care for their lives, yet the eye chose them instead of the king’s knights because if the king power grew substantial when they returned, the king would abuse his power and target other nations not just the Asura. The eye left back into the gap.

No one knew what going on, but all of a sudden the sky darkened. Then a huge eye tore a whole in the darkened sky, as it returned from Estallius.

“I have summoned powerful adventurers, Mages, and knowledgeable figures around the continent, in preparation of an entity that would raze the continent to the ground. I have gathered you…”

“Where are we?!”

“What are you planning?!?”

“Let us go!!!”

“I’m scared”

The eye was rudely interrupted, and it was irritated because they were asking questions that it was answering. It has sacrificed a portion of it’s strength and a second life for these impatient ant. The eye located everyone that spoken out, and surrounded their heads with space magic, and crushed them. The eye then released it’s magic pressure on everyone.

“Don’t interrupt me again. But before I say any more…”

A powerful pressure that none of the adventurers ever felt before crashed onto them. Some adventurers fainted, some collapsed on the ground but the S ranked adventurers, were able to stay standing, but that was basically all they could do.

“Welcome to the abyss…”

At that moment, the last wall of support Beth had, crumbled. The mana she used to support herself was overwhelmed by this pressure alone, with the wounds she suffered, her exhaustion, and now the pressure that was crashing down on her, this induced her labored, without a fighting chance. Beth’s screams echoed through the abyss and shortly after, a baby’s cries followed.

The giant eye appeared before Beth, and examined her condition. It was in shock, this woman wasn’t in any type of healthy condition, but she gave birth, and the eye realized it must have been the main cause of it. If it wasn’t for it, maybe she could’ve gotten help, but her condition also shows she was in a dangerous situation beforehand as well. The thing that made the eye the most shocked, was that she was smiling at this baby.

“Lets continue, I am Abyss, a being that has surpassed those foolish gods, and so they banished me into this gap outside of Estallius. I can escape anytime I want to, that’s how I abducted you all, but I have to be careful. Those idiotic gods, never listen to me when I give them warning of disasters, even after the dozens of warnings and me being correct every time. So I decided to take action myself. I created this wonderland, by sacrificing some of my strength, which I call this place the abyss, but it was in order to prepare the strongest beings on Longius, who weren’t stigmatized by those ignorant gods…”

The baby giggled and reached to the giant eye, which astonished both abyss and Beth, because abyss pressure was still in full of effect, yet this baby wasn’t phased at all. Abyss started examining the baby, and grew even more astonished. This baby had 4 cores, and 3 of them had several elements contained. Normally no race was born with a core, they received a core after going through an awakening, having several elements was rare, after the first awakening, while having several cores was unheard of before the second awakening, but people with several cores were extremely rare in the first place. Not only that, but this child’s elements were: fire/ice in the first core, that’s two opposing elements, which would be difficult to control, but they were perfectly in harmony; the second was composed of lightning, metal, and wind, lightning and wind were intermediate elements; the third core was space and darkness… this was extremely impressive, those were two of the primordial elements, and the final core didn’t have any element, it was just a clump of mana, you might think they was average, but that was the rarest of all, not a single being has been born with a mana core, since thousands of years.

Abyss took on a female appearance, with long black hair, and was a stunning beauty, she grabbed the baby from Beth, than an iridescent layer of mana surrounded Beth.

“Any final words, elf?”

Beth had a deprecating smile as she responded back. She gathered her six spirit, then sent to Seth, without him noticing.

“His name is Seth, the Se comes from his father’s name Sean and the Th come the Beth in my name. I hope he has a blessed future.”

Abyss nodded as a purple layer of mana wrapped around Beth, and in the blink of an eye, Beth disappeared. Sean and Darren broke free from the pressure and charged at Abyss. Abyss just flicked her free hand at the two of them, and a surge of mana swept them away.

“Don’t get cocky. I will spare you too this time, since I can tell one of you is the father. But this will be the only time”

The baby has silver hair, with one long streak of light blue, going through the middle of his head. This baby also had all three of this guys elements, and weirdly they were all on different cores.

“As I was saying, I brought you here to the abyss to strengthen you all. The abyss is unhindered by the gods. So you will be able to learn how to master mana to a whole new level. That’s why it’s a wonderland. You all will be trapped here for four years, but because I can control space and time, those four years will feel like ten years. So you will be able to train for ten years, in just four years. The proof of that will be this child. He will leave here as a four year old, but he will have experienced ten years here.”

Abyss never looked away from Seth, and played with his cheeks with her free hand.

“In ten to fifteen years, outside of the abyss, an Asura will make it’s appearance. It’s a being that surpasses the demon lord, and grows endlessly. The demon lord both admires and fears the Asura and that’s why the current demon lord will always be named Asura in hopes of awakening as an Asura, so don’t be confused if you knew the demon lord’s name was Asura. The Asura is born every thousand or so years, and they nearly destroyed Estallius, if they aren’t killed early enough.”

Abyss let out a sigh, as she raised Seth into the air spun him around, and watched him giggle.

“Those imbecilic gods are one of the reasons I have to do this. Six thousand of years ago, Estallius was much different. The mana was more powerful and the races weren’t born with elements nor were there awakenings. You had a mana core, and as you grew stronger you could incorporate elements into your cores. Around that time I had made a name for myself, I mastered several primordial elements, and was one of the strongest humans around. The king wanted me to serve and I refused and the gods wanted me to serve them and I refused. While everyone was fighting for my loyalty, they ignored the growing Asura. I attempted to kill it several times, but the gods feared I would join the demonic gods, when I tried to go to Diabolosus. The king also had dozens of his strongest knights follow me around to make sure I didn’t join a different country, so they prevented me from leaving Longius. Because I couldn’t stop the Asura, it caused a great tragedy. Several continents on the western side was razed to the ground. The Eastern continents wiped out completely. This tragedy made the dwarves escape underground, it made the northwest a barren wasteland, the Eastern continents were so bad that, the dragons separated themselves from the world in order to maintain their neutrality, and Atlantis was sunken into the ocean. So after the Asura had time to grow, I felt threatened but those idiotic gods, still blocked me from doing anything believing I was sure to join the opposing side. This was all plot of the demonic gods, they invited the gods into believing this, to let the Asura grow, and they attacked Longius when they believed the Asura was finally my match. The Asura massacred thousands of innocent people of Longius before I was finally able to meet the Asura. Dozens of powerhouses were killed by it. Even my family and friends. So after that, I killed the Asura. It was a tough battle. After that, I slaughtered the demonic gods, and when I attempted to explain the situation to the gods, they banished me in fear that I would kill them. Even more foolishly, they weakened the mana of Estallius and changed the principles of the world, and made all the mana impure, preventing people from being born with mana cores to prevent another me from being born, that’s why all cores have elements already infused with them. They even limit the power a person can be born with, and use three awakenings to limit the strength a person can have. What seems like a blessing is actually a curse. The strength a person should be born with, is siphoned from them, and the awakenings give them a proportion of it back. Since you don’t get your final elements until you’re twenty five, you have less time to master them. Everyone is born with affinities with certain elements, and originally even if you had no affinity with an element you could learn it, it would just take longer to learn. But now… people aren’t allowed that opportunity, you only have the elements you have the highest priority with, even worse you get the stronger elements last, so you will never reach your peak, as that’s around the time a person’s potential diminishes. Elves and dragons aren’t affected by those rules, as they continue to grow as they age. But they contaminated the mana for idiotic reasoning’s. So I created this wonderland, you can all continue to grow. You can master your elements, you can study new elements, you can make your mana more pure, you can practice swordsmanship. I will recreate the strongest monsters, and you will hunt them, for nutrients, and to grow stronger.”

Abyss walked away with the baby, and finally released her pressure. The load of information was difficult to absorb originally, but most of the magicians of spiralous felt like some dots had finally connected. Magicians unlike adventurers always attempted to grow stronger through mana and gathering knowledge yet they didn’t worship any god. The capital of magicians had knowledge and literature from various sources, and some came from continents that no longer existed and several scholars made theories, but there was no evidence or proof. Even though everyone could process the information they felt the strong density of mana, that was several qualities better than on Estallius.

Sean watched Abyss walk away and Darren stood up and put his hand on Sean’s shoulder.

“If she wanted to kill Beth, she could’ve easily did so the same way she did those people earlier, also there was a faint purple glow around her, and she did teleport all of us here in an instant. Don’t worry about it.”

Sean smiled lacklusterly, and stood up.

“I also figured that, but the gap is too huge between us. Also, she has our child. I don’t know where my wife is, and I can’t reach my child. A failure as a husband and a failure as a father. That just makes me a failure as of man…”

“This abyss is a place to grow stronger. We have to survive and get stronger. It would be difficult to do so, while raising a child. The way she treated it, she must wants to raise. I know both of you were looking forward to this child, but don’t lose yourself. You might finally be able to get strong enough to protect Beth.”

“You’re right…but if you’re so levelheaded, why did you also run at her.”

“I figured you would die if you acted alone, if I wasn’t with you, you probably wouldn’t have given up on the first attempt. You probably would’ve tried to risk your life, but felt I would die as well, and just gave up.”

“Darren… it’s weird you know me so well…are you single… because you’re obsessed with me…I hope you know I’m married.”

Before Sean could let out a laugh, and aura infused fist smashed into his gut.

“Sean, if you weren’t in such an emotional stage I wouldn’t let you off so easily. You two are the only family I have left. My father and older brother died on the battlefield. I survived because I advanced my classes to for survivability rather than for strength. My mother, my wife, my sister, my kids, my whole village… they were killed by monsters. I had nothing to go back to, I had no one to welcome me back, I outlived my parents, I couldn’t protect my siblings, and I had to bury what was left of my children and wife…I outlived three generations…I didn’t have any friends…I left the military and became an adventurer. I met you two and I had people I could rely on again…that I could I could protect… so I have three family members…now…I won’t lose you all so easily. It’s too early for you to give up. You have something to fight for…you have motivation. You have to live so I can stay motivated as well.”

Darren turned his back, and started walking off. Tears dripping down his face. Sean wanted to apologize but he knew Darren wouldn’t want that. He forgot Darren been through so much, he had four kids, he lost everything while he was in the military.

Meanwhile, in the middle of the abyss, Abyss held Seth, in front a huge crater, filled with the land dragon king’s blood.

“The blood of monsters are used to strengthen people, but usually only Beastmen do it now, because most races can endure the pain, but dragons blood have a ton of nutrients and mana in it. Since you have a mana core, your body will be able to absorb all blood and we won’t have to worry about feeding you, and also you don’t have to worry about the pain since I can make you sleep through it all. It will take some time, and I will let your father know. You’re truly a little rebel. Since you were born here, you weren’t exposed to that impure mana, and as a half elf, your potential for mana will surpass a human. So just be a good boy and grow stronger.” Abyss placed her head onto Seth’s forehead, and shrouded him with her four elements. Seth fell asleep immediately and Abyss placed him into the pool of dragon blood.

Abyss appeared in front of the moping Sean.

“They’re both alive. You can see your wife in four years, and your son, Seth, will be in my care until he’s three. Even though his body will be that of a three year old, his mind should be that of a seven or eight year old. You can teach him your techniques then. You have to grow stronger or else I might just leave Seth to your friend. You were the weakest of the bunch and the most irrational. She was calm in the face of death, and he risked his life to protect you. It was obvious he only acted because you did. So don’t make me regret it. Your child is a miracle. Free of the shackles of those moronic gods. You will have one year to train him.” Abyss faded out without listening to Sean’s response.

Abyss appeared in sky once again, she began creating monsters by fusing her life, space, and time magic. In one hour she created hundreds of A ranked monsters, dozens of S ranked monsters, and even four monsters that have been extinct and surpassed the S rank. Those extinct monsters were in the four cardinal directions North, East, West, and South.

The adventurers and magicians hunted the monsters, and Abyss created new monsters every month. This cycle went on for a full year, yet no one ever hunted the four extinct monsters
