Zariel woke up to an, as expected, wrinkled suit. He hated it but kept it on, he still needed the warmth that clothes provided, no matter how wrinkled they looked he had to keep it on.
He got up from the rocky ground and moved towards the front of the cave, he stretched as he looked at the burning scenery. He sat down cross legged looking at the view he closed his eyes and felt all the particles surrounding him, first he used his body heat energy to move the particles, a flame was created in front of him that burned fiercely. Zariel kept it burning for almost an hour until he realised his body was as cold as ice, the flame extinguished as soon as he broke his concentration.
After almost a day of trying with the fire he got the hang of it, he was almost able to do it by only thinking about it for a second, fast learning was also a perk of the immortality fiasco. He slept again and got back to practising, he now tried with the feeling of the flowing of his blood, he couldn't literally summon his blood but he felt like he could summon something else, as Zariel thought about the feeling of flowing a small amount of water started to hover in front of him, he didn't notice as his eyes were closed but after a couple of hours he had finally opened them to see the small ball of water that had formed before, except now it was much larger.
Zariel became excited at the possibilities of what he could do, instead of think of things as particles and atoms he now thought of certain elements and what they felt like, he placed both palms on the earth and closed his eyes again, he felt a thrumming of the rock beneath him and suddenly a massive pillar of the earth erupted in front of Zariel.
He tried to picture other elements too, using the earth he tried to grown a tree but nothing happened, he decided to research that after his experimenting after all he had millions, maybe even billions of years to try all this out. After almost 20 weeks of trying to focus and control the elements to perfection Zariel had almost reached the peak, he decided to take a break from all the practical work and focus on the theory.
He tried investigating why he couldn't summon trees and grass and plants, he had little progress in that regard so he concentrated on seeing whether he could control more than just the 4 basic elements, what he found out was he could control metals, which he found out when sensing the earth and finding some odd grey metal and found out he could control it because it felt almost the same as earth, there was also a way for him to control the vapour and steam that was created when the water he made fell onto the magma, and he also could control the light.
He accidently found this out when it was night in his cave and he was thinking of the sun, like how warm it felt on his skin and how you could see it streaming through the window and could see the dust when a ball of light appeared in front of him.
Zariel had now been on this planet and studying it and it's magic for a year in earth time now, Zariel also noticed that the days were getting longer, a full day was about 18 hours instead of 16, his scientific part of the brain refused to believe it was possible so he just pegged it down as either the magic or the goddess to shut it up.
He continued studying the particle or as he now just called magic like in that book he once read, Zariel was never a fan of fiction, he preferred textbooks and doctors and scientists journals than a silly story about some prince or hero of to save the world. Once he was forced to read a book by one of his fondest friends, he had hated it but always remembered it.
He used the name 'magic' as it explained more than science could in this situation, after all, even when he was a scientist science couldn't solve his immortality conundrum. He had started to wonder now why he had wanted to die so badly until he dreamt at night and remembered.
He dreamt of his wives, they were all beautiful to him and he had loved each one and a little piece of him died each time he had to leave before they realised he wasn't aging like him, a couple of times he had told his wives. One called him crazy and left him, the rest believed him and his heart still broke each time when he saw then on their deathbed while he still looked healthy and 20.
He always hated it when he dreamt of memories, sometimes life would grant him a release and just give him some random dream of a donkey riding a pilgrim, he always laughed when he remembered that dream.
After now 12 000 years of research the days were now 24 hours and he had mastered light and fire magic, without even looking he could summon a fire tornado onto the barren lands and create a glowing orb the size of a football stadium. The amount of energy it took for him to do this was about the amount of energy a banana gave you.
He was noticing the energy in his body was starting to distance itself from his physical presence, the movement was so little it was barely noticeable but he was certain after 12 000 years that his energy was becoming more ethereal. As for food he didn't need it, it seems immortality also kept him with a large amount of energy at all times and he never felt hungry.
Finally at the end of the 12 000 year he sighed, he still looked exactly 20, his brown hair seemed to be turning black for an unknown reason and the roots were the only thing still remaining of his natural brown colour but he knew it was only a matter of time but his eyes remained blue, the only weird thing was they were becoming an almost neon or fluorescent colour of blue, other than that his face remained the same except for the long beard he had grown out by now, he was trying to find a magic that could cut it but for now he tried to ignore the itchiness it gave him and how he constantly tripped over it. His suit was completely ruined, it had tears, burn marks and stains that were unexplainable so he now just wore the pants and the vest, luckily his overcoat wasn't in too bad of a condition.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
He looked out to the world that seemed to glow with the magma and fire and sighed, he didn't know how long this planet would take to evolve enough for humans and other species to come into being or evolve, with magic in the air he wasn't sure if it would speed up the process or slow it down and Zariel hated mysteries. That part of his personality was why he pursued science in almost all of his lives, more than once he was a detective, even went by the name 'Sherlock Holmes' once, but he made sure people thought he was a story, reputation led to publicity and publicity meant investigation into their history and that was dangerous for someone with his... history.
The magma pool that was a few miles ahead of Zariel started to bubble wildly, 5 small figures leapt out of the magma in an explosion, they figures weren't human though, they were actually more like a lizard, if lizards were the size of human babies. Using his slightly less advanced air magic he sprinted to the pool or magma, what should've taken almost half an hour on foot only took him about five minutes on magic, as he approached the figures he noticed they looked like smaller versions of the dragons he had seen in pictures books at his book stores, but they looked much meaner than a children's drawing, they had sharp spines running down their backs, horns on their head, glistening scales and slitted pupils but the relation between them ended there.
One of them had dark blue scales and what looked like fins on the side of its head, it had only two legs and looked more like the Eastern depiction of a dragon as its body was long and the short legs were only at the front and had extremely sharp looking claws, under its chin it's scales morphed to a more aqua colour, it's horns were also an aqua colour and looked more like they were made out of diamond, his eyes were a surprising pale pink colour.
The second one had deep red scales, they were a more vermillion colour, it had spikes that were an amber colour, they only odd thing about this dragon was it was on fire, it's spikes were on fire and the trail led to the top of it's head with even his horns being on fire making it look like a mane of flames, other than that he looked ordinary, his face looked angry, like he was going to headbutt whoever came near him, his eyes darted around and his large black eyes added a cuteness you wouldn't expect on him.
The third one looked tamer and even shy, it's scales were like opals, white with a rainbow shimmer, and her horns were like quartz and her muzzle had a beak at the end, not a beak like birds from earth more like a hard shell with a point at the top half of her mouth, it had two holes for what looked like her nostrils on it. Her spikes looked less pointy and her eyes were wide and a deep blue, almost like it's two-legged brothers scales and her tail was longer than her body with the spines still running down it like the others. The oddest thing was she had a few feathers in a mohawk pattern on her head, they were pure white and small but they did add a bird-like factor to her.
The fourth one seemed very sleepy but it had not given into the sweet release of sleep yet, it had it's eyes half closed but it's grey eyes were still quite visible, his scales looked hardened and stronger than the rest, he was bulky even though he was a baby. His spines were tall and thick, they had smaller layers on either side of them and looked like stone, they reminded Zariel of the stegosaurus spines he saw on Earth, his scales on his back all had a layer of moss and even some sticks and twigs were growing out of the gaps, his horns were branches off a tree and had a few leaves on them. His tail unlike the others had a thick spiky chunk of wood at the end that looked like a mace, Zariel knew this one was the fighter of the family.
He finally looked at the fifth one which was the coolest looking of them all, it had deep black scales but it's belly and the lower half of its jaw and chin was a golden colour, his eyes and horns were a glowing purple colour and he looked like the most calm and composed out of them all, his spike on his back were completely see through like glass and looked even sharper than the others spikes, his claws were red and menacing, they looked as sharp as his spikes.
They all stared at him as he stared at them, a clear distrust was in their eyes but he ignored it, to be honest they all just looked incredibly cute to him with their wide eyes and childish looks. He tried communicating...
"Hello? My name is Zariel and if you don't understand this I'm going to look like an idiot so please respond"
They remained silent but the distrust seemed to fade a bit as they noticed the kindness in his tone. Zariel realised that they seemed to be more intelligent than an average beast, he wondered if he could teach them to speak or do magic. He scooped them up and raced back, they struggled he ran but as he put them down the seemed to take a liking to the cave, Zariel smiled as he saw the cute monsters pace around the cave and sniffing it, they were repulsed by the smell of his clothes but they seemed content with the cave.
Zariel one again smiled, maybe this job won't be so lonely.

Hiya! It's me!, hope you like the chapter, I don't really think of myself as a good writer but I am just really obsessed with fantasy and to have the opportunity to write it down is nice so, thanks for reading. Also I did not proof-read this so tell me if there is a mistake.
