"Glyffe! Glyffe! Look! Glyffe look!" A beautiful but seemingly quite young woman shouted from inside a well-designed wooden house.
"Hm? What is it Silvia?" A strong youthful man replied firmly - his powerful voice reverberating across the room.
"It's Reno! He just scattered elemental particles!" the young women emphasized with even more enthusiasm then she initially had.
Suddenly , steady footsteps could be heard as Glyffe walked upstairs towards Reno and Silvia. From his perspective he could see an enchanting woman with flourishing black hair and a harmless young boy with equally charming short black hair sat entranced in the contents of a magic book.
The boy was holding the book up with one hand (albeit while struggling) and the other hand was pointed palm up with a spectrum of rainbow particles fluttering and dancing on his palm. The particles were ethereal in nature - one second they were there and the next they were gone.
The strong chiselled man's countenance lit up and an expression of surprise coloured his usually focused visage. "Did you teach him that, Silvia?" Glyffe asked pertinently still quite bewildered by what he was seeing.
"He did it all on his own I didn't even know he could read yet! Is it normal for a kid to learn to read at 3 years old? Reno why didn't you tell us you could read? All this time I thought you were just looking for pictures." Silvia asked tentatively bombarding both me and Glyffe with curious questions.
"Mum I didn't tell you because I can't read...I just followed the pictures..." I replied slightly anxiously. That's right - I am that kid. This time their expressions lit up even more and the looks on the faces became even more impressed.
"Glyffe I think-"
"Yeah I think so too."
They looked each other deep in the eye and I could see they both had the same phrase in mind.
"He's a genius!" they both said in unison their eyes sharing the same bright glint.
Uh-oh. Well I could be a genius - or maybe I just reincarnated into this young child "Reno Frostworth" from a normal planet called "Earth". Back on Earth I wasn't anybody special just the common introverted anime watcher , gamer and light novel reader. I remember I had just turned 18 and was preparing to go to university but then to save some kindergarten students I dived in front of a truck and that was the end of my life on Earth.
When I came to I was here on this planet - one that is similar to Earth yet also very different. I have yet to learn this planet's name but I know there's mythical races and ancient creatures which I thought only existed in anime or novels. Teleportation portals, elves , dwarfs , dragons , beastman , ancient ruins , dungeons - it reminded me of RPGs in my old world. Most important of all - this world had magic. I hadn't confirmed any of this yet but the pictures in books and the detail of which they were in seemed to not be faked.
I couldn't be sure this world had all these things but what I had just managed to do had just confirmed that it's likely this world really did have those fantasy elements. I had just used magic after all.
Magic, every young kids dream was to use magic and fly - I know you've probably wanted to as well at some point. I reincarnated into this young boy - Reno Frostworth - and I've lived as him for 3 years now - though the past few years have been blurry to say the least. I only really gained consciousness like a week ago. That's when I began burrying myself deep into magic books (as much as a 3 year old could anyways). I made sure I was learning as much as I could about this familiar yet foreign world.

Human tongue came naturally to me even though it was different from the english I used in my previous world. All it took was listening carefully and attempting to replicate the sounds my parents made which was a piece of cake considering my experience speaking a language in another world previously. Soon enough I realised I had absolutely no way to read.
So, as the great problem solver that I am, I began looking for magic books with pictures and that's what has lead to the situation you see before you. Honestly I didnt feel like a genius I'd been staring at these pictures for probably half an hour and just trying to form magic as best I could. I finally got it working - which confirmed this really was a fantasy world - and that was right when Silvia, my mum, walked into "my room". Being 3 and all I didn't really have a separate room which is to be expected but it does catch me off guard when my parents don't knock to come into my room - gives me bad Earth flashbacks.
The magic book in my hand was coloured and from the illustrations it showed stable bright particles condensing on the palm as the first step to achieving magic casting. However on the book it showed hands of different colours showing different particles on the palm - perhaps to illustrate people usually only have certain types of magic available. While I couldn't condense the particles into a stable form yet they could materialise for a short moment. It looked like a rainbow of colours when I formed it earlier how strange - wasn't I supposed to only have one?
"Look Reno," Silvia said eagerly causing me to glance upwards towards her reflexively from my awkward seating position. "This is how you're supposed to condense the elements."
Instantly, dense coloured lights burst out from her marble white palm interweaving within themselves shining with a permanent fluorescence. Each colour a swirling river ebbing and flowing. The faint particles hovering in my hand paled in comparison to the condensed lights which formed real elements. Red lights coalesced to form flames which roared from her palm only to be replaced by a great deluge of blue light only for a towering tree surrounded by beautiful flora to rise in it's place followed by a blueish-grey light beckoning in a world of ice.
I looked around at Glyffe as if to say, are you seeing this insanity too? But it seemed like he took that as wanting a demonstration from him as well. A soft smile painted his countenance and he came closer to Silvia and moved his palm next to hers so it was facing me too. Instantly a bright red light coalesced on his palm too and the roar of a deep crimson flame caused my little baby ears to buzzz once again. A grey light replaced it at will forming small scale tempests on his palm only for strong mountains of earth to arise quickly replacing those tempests. Pillars of earth rose fell and clashed creating what looked like an earthquake. Finally an especially bright yellow light gathered on his palm forming a dense electric field.
With a playful look at Silvia as his declaration of war, Glyffe's lightning currents invaded Silvia's ice world - mini sparks of lightning danced jovially and small patches of ice jetted out recklessly. The currents ate away at the ice field but the ice field didn't yield. It seemed to be evenly matched but slowly the ice field conquered the electric field. Ice was a good insulator of electricity after all.
Now it was my turn to be shocked. They both smiled clearly quite complacent - especially Silvia with her magic demonstration beating Glyffe's. I guess Glyffe was smiling because his wife was. Happy wife happy life so they say. I could feel his competitiveness begin to surge slightly though - just a father son instinct. I guess my parents are really awesome.
"Reno did you learn to condense electric magic too?" Silvia asked pensively with an interesting look.
"No mum why?" I asked confused, I had a bad feeling.
"There seems to be yellow particles on your pants Reno." Silvia giggled. That's when I looked down at my pants and just as she'd said there was yellow "particles" - but I'm afraid it wasn't electric magic. Her cheeky remark earned a strong bout of laughter from my father and caused my cheeks to heat up. "It seems he's still too young to see magic duels, even tiny ones like that! Look he's even condensing red particles!" Glyffe laughed freely between his sentences clearly enjoying my puffed up cheeks which were a clear red from pure embarrassment.
That thing about my parents being awesome - maybe not on second thought. And so, that was how I embarrassingly started to learn magic with my family, The Frostworths.
