Long before there was any time to speak of, the great conflict between good and evil began. You might object to that statement, saying, "Well, how come I've never heard of it?" You may even be so wise as to question how something could begin before time itself. I can hear it now, "That's just bad storytelling!"
I won't fault you on that, given what little you know of the world around you. Most of you will never see or hear anything more than exactly what you want to. You ignore the things that lurk in the light, and you have no understanding of those who dwell in the dark.
This is the story of a much younger man. He was a creature of routine, comforted by what he knew. Afraid of the unknown. His life shaped the course of your world, though you have never heard his name. It was Jim, by the way. I knew him well.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
He had the same choices you do each day. Wake up, live, sleep, repeat. Just like many of you, he rarely grasped the power of his decisions to shape the future. His is a story of growth and discovery, but it is not a happy tale.
You will probably see yourself in parts of it. But, I'm going to ask you–for Jim's sake–examine the broken bits. Gaze upon the rough edges and look for your reflection where you may not want to see it. Use the lessons he learned to try to see the truth: every one of you is capable of great things.
