Re: Synapse | Isekai Chapter 4 (NEW CHAPTERS ON HIATUS TILL DECEMBER. REWRITTING COMING UP.)

Re: Twin Worlds, Isaiah’s first contacts, chapter 4; Synapse | Isekai

I wake up, feeling that the bed is wet, I try to angle my head over to check the damage. It’s sweaty, odorless and incredibly moisty. The entire bed is drowning in it too; I didn’t think having a nightmare in the middle of the night would’ve caused me to sweat more than it would’ve caused me to pee.

Either way, I don’t want to ever sleep if I get that nightmare again. Coming face-to-face with that demonic entity is the last thing I want to see.

I turn my head towards the clock hanging on the other side of the bed. I’m in a state of shock, It’s exactly 8am in the morning. I’ve never slept at night and woke up at the correct time. It’s mostly ever been an hour more or an hour less. The clock never seems to work for my head; it’s mostly—well, I guess Its better to not mention it again.

“Exactly that time, not even a minute more or less.” I’m deeply caught by the clock hands moving clockwise when Oda suddenly barges in.

{[End of Chapter 3]}

“Isaiah!” Oda shouts after kicking the door so hard that I thought it’d break right afterwards. He seems ecstatic and full of energy. I reach out to the table near the bed, knowing there’s a vintage lamp placed right on top of it—and that my glasses are also probably somewhere near it.

“We’ve got no time for that; there’s a ceremony for us to attend!” Oda’s face is emanating a slick smile as I’m still searching for my glasses in a failing attempt. Although I probably don’t need it anymore, my eyesight seems to have gotten a whole lot better than before the whole ‘demonic angels’ incident.

I remember the lens being made to suit a 20/60 user. That’s just short of being clinically and legally blind!

“Right, give me a second to check myself in a mirror.” I say to Oda while looking to the opposite of wherever he’s looking at. I said I wanted to check my physical form on a mirror, but apparently it looks like there’s no reflecting surface here for me to actually myself on.

Well, it’s time to focus on the present rather than reflect on the past. It’s called the past for a reason—time to focus on the gift of the present. However, I may not like it.

“Done yet?” Oda again is smiling at me awkwardly. Before the situation gets too awkward, I decide to just head on with it. “God, alright; take the lead, will you?” as we head outside the room, into the giant hallway again.

“Oh god.” I look at the hallway; it extends so much more than last time. Yesterday It wasn’t that well lit with the ceiling lights illuminating only a slight touch. Today… It’s a different case. The lights are all over, lighting up even the darkest of corners found in this hallway.

I’m pretty sure I estimated this hallway to be around two to three soccer courts equivalent. Now, I just think that’d be the half estimate of the hallway. From just here, till that giant gate at the end, It’s already over three courts. I look behind; it’s just as large from the back as it is from the front. I’m not in the right mind to do a rough estimate but If I had to guess, it would probably stretch to seven or eight courts.

I look around; Oda is nowhere to be seen. “I’m right here, Isaiah!” Oda is far ahead of me; I walk as I sprint. To try and catch up right beside him. It’s going to take us a few minutes in order to get to the end of this hallway so why not chat for a while?

I make my legs to the work, catching up to his left. He’s looking straight ahead and steps in a normal motion with the right hand being in a constant state of no movement.

Oda strikes up a conversation, saying firsthand about how he noticed me profiling ‘God.’ in every sentence, which struck a confusion or a sense of amusement in me.

“Say Isaiah, do you believe in any supreme deity?” with an undying gaze of joy, was said by him.

I look at Oda in confusion, glaring about my earlier sentences in which I did include God. Being honest, I would call God in times of need or when I’m in a situation where only a divinity could help me. Perhaps when I’m happy and I truly want to thank someone, there’s God for you. Although with everything that’s happened with me—angelic happenings—I'm pretty sure what the answer to that is...

“Before I came enlightened with the knowledge of demons, I’d say half yes.” I look at Oda, wanting to know what about his stand in this. By looking, I mean giving him a deadly stare.

“God is, for a mother is to an orphan, a father to a son, hope to the hopeless.” Oda is still smiling; a conventional me would be debating with him on the topic of God being far more than just hope. God is the beacon of trust and the way you envision your life to please him. Yet now, I find some truth amongst his words. I guess any normal, not-an-overthinker would agree.

He’s still smiling; I guess he hasn’t smiled so much since his 20’s. I look at Oda, who is staring at me with a serious look before erupting.

“J-just how old do you think I am?” As he fixes his posture, removing the awkward facial expression and gently caressing his own blond hair before abruptly stopping in his tracks.

“Well, that’s one hall down, three more to go.” I question at the sudden stop before looking forward, placing my eyes on the giant gate that’s right in front of us. I don’t understand; how did I even make it to there. In such a brief time as well, it’s astounding.

My eyes turning towards Oda, begging for an answer. Did we teleport or what exactly? I’ve been feeling different since waking up here as well: taller, being able to see without glasses and generally feeling much better.

“You see, after drinking that sacred elixir—blood of the angel, you gained significant abilities. Awakened your spiritual energy and made it manifest properly.”

Manifested my spiritual energy? —significantly increased abilities? I can’t really understand whatever Oda is trying to desperately imply here.

I don’t really remember much from the previous encounter with the demonic entity but from what I do know, I fainted, my head turning all around, doing a three-sixty. Still, I can’t figure out how Oda got in during that moment or, more importantly, how he was able to know I was there.

I just know he made me a yellow liquid down my throat. Well, that doesn’t matter anymore. I need the answers to the current problems at hand.

“How did that blood impact my body?” I ask Oda as he blabbers something while being close to the gate before saying something along the lines of: Open.’

I look at the giant gate opening, revealing yet another hallway before us. “For starters, you don’t need glasses to see things clearly now.” I could have guessed it but what else is there? Like super strength or magical abilities?

“The fluid fixed your body from within but failed to give you any other enhancing component, unfortunately.”

Oh god, I don’t like where it’s going. My head hurts now.

“Like, you were so weak that the fluid didn’t manage to power you to the normal level.”

I’m still weak then? How does that work?
