Ran's face was impassive, but the Marquis' face expressed a multitude of emotions, fear, anger, still trying to keep a haughty attitude.
"Lowly dog, your death will be slow, the other nobles won't stand by and do nothing! You and these disgusting peasants will be put down before long! Go to hell you…you monster!”
Ran's expression didn’t change and he flatly answered him.
"I see..."
A final bang sounded in the night, it seemed more deafening than the others, its echo lasted longer, filled with a deeper meaning.
"In that case, go ahead..."
Ran stored his gun back into his inventory and started walking away when a flood of notifications appeared:

[blade mastery]: increase melee damages by 10% when using a blade
[Intermediate Mana Control]: only for those who understand the deeper workings of magic, 20% reduction in mana cost of all spells, 20% increase in spell power.
[Basic Elemental Magic]*: Allows you to use magic through elements, effects increase with understanding and visualisation of the chosen element.
Ran was surprised by the increase in levels, sure he slaughtered close to 200 people that were higher level than him but his gun did all the work, it felt a little to easy, now he understood better why that supposed goddess kept humans from gaining experience from each other, the gains were simply too much ! His own level jumped all the way to 30 in one go, he could feel his muscles tightening below his exo-suit and all his senses becoming kinner, like a veil lifted from his eyes and plugs popped from his ears.
But that was not the only benefit he got, far from it, [plunderer] worked overtime and gifted him a whole 5 new skills ! Ran understood right away that he had once again obtained spectacular abilities, the increase in damages would benefit his knife and sword greatly, too bad that it didn’t seem to affect his favorite knife throwing move.
The better control of mana allowed him to invoke spells without having to go through an incantation, which only made him lose precious time in addition to directly announcing to the enemy his next move.
Not having to shout embarrassingly everytime was also a plus.
But Ran noticed the asterisk to the right of his new magic ability, it didn't bode well, he pressed it and a new information window emerged:
*Please note: Due to insufficient level, only 1 type of elemental magic can be chosen from the following elements {fire}, {water}, {earth}, {wind} and {poison}
Ran sighed, obviously it couldn't be that simple. When he thought about it he didn’t notice any mage using two elements or more, were magic elements hard capped for everyone as well ?
Ran chuckled, finally one thing he couldn’t cheat his way out of.
He had to think carefully about which element to choose because it went without saying that it would undoubtedly affect the way he fought in the future.
Era already gave him a pretty good round down of magic, he understood that fire specialized in raw damage, poison in area and time damage, water healed wounds and earth offered effective protection as far as shielding went.
Each had its advantages, but Ran didn't really need them because his weapon killed instantly, his nanobots could stop bleeding and repair internal damage, and his armor could withstand most enemy attacks.
There was only the wind magic left, it wasn't as powerful as the fire magic, but much more versatile, Ran was already smiling sadistically while thinking of multiple ways to integrate it with his fighting style, oh the possibilities.
There was still one last ability, when Ran read its description, he was speechless:
[Kill count] : Each enemy killed grants a permanent damage bonus
Current kill count: 168
