"All your choices have been made. When you wake up, think 'status', and your status screen will open, and you will get a once in a lifetime opportunity to see what your stats do" ...... it says in its highstrung but monotone voice, maybe a bit of sadness mixed in?
"Thanks" that seemed like useful information. Wait, did it mean when you wake up?
And then for a third time, everything turned black.
----------------------------------------
Bang .... a nearby barrel explodes in a firery mess of burnt wood and ashes.
"Hey Inderall, stop that, we're on patrol in a lower area of the city, it's more dangerous down here", Geoff said in a quiet, but harsh tone.
"Then woudn't the Rats be as scared of magic, as the normal rats are" I say silently, hoping he forgets about it.
"Listen up Indrell, any assasin would be more than happy to kill a mage for the reputation, if they has the chance. So don't go around showing off. No matter how bored you are" Geoff said with sympathy in his eyes.
Urgh, my last source of entartainment lost so easily; well it was all my father's fault, trying to teach me some "temperment" and "patience", like I need any more of that. I am the model of a patient man, or at least a patien Noble; but us Nobles are the only type of person, who can truly be seen as human.

Idiot, that one. At least he hasnt been shooting fireballs at the commen folk. He doesn't understand, that in the "slums", there are threats all around. It wasn't truly a slum, but it was the third district, right between the common's district and the thief's district, as they were separatly called atleast unoffically. But then again, he is a Noble and must be bored from walking up and down the same four streets all night long. Maybe I should take him to an inn, and get us both a drink afterwards, to show him the good side of being a part of the city watch.
"Ahhhrg"

What was that? I heard a loud wail from nearby, and quickly signaled the Indrell to follow. Running through the empty streets I knew so well, as I reached my destination I saw woman was lying in the streets, a basket clutched to her chest. Over her stood two cloaked men, one had his right hand missing and was screaming as thick black goo oozed out of the stump. As we approached, they turned to look at us and then slowly started advancing towards us.
I drew my saber, and Inderell put his hands together, pulled them apart, puts one hand up and then glides the first around the other. I felt a slight tingeling around me, and I knew I was protected by magic. I quickly slashed one of the robbers across the throat, and he died gurgeling on his own blood. I turned towards the other man, only to see a smooking pile of ash and burnt flesh.
I noded towards Indrell to acknowledge his deed, but he was in the midst of vometing on the ground. I ran towards the fallen woman, only to find her already dead. I lifted up the basket she was holding in her hand, only to see a small baby with its eyes closed lying in it. The baby had a small pile of smelly black shit underneath it.
"What do we do with that?" Indrell asked, still looking a bit green.
"We follow protocol 216 'if you see an abandoned baby, drop it off at the district adoption center'. Since this district has no adoption center, we go one district up and drop him off there." I say focusing on the word 'him', while quickly covering him up.
Indrell noded slightly in agreement as we hurried off to the 4th district adoption center.
As we knocked on the door it slowly opened, and revealed an old woman, standing in the doorway.
"What ya' want?" She looks annoyed for being disturbed in the middle of the night; properly doing late night shift.
"We're here to deliver an abandoned baby", I say.
"Ooh a baby, let me see". She suddenly looks happy again
I hand her the basket and stands back, as she said 'uhh' and 'ahh' and 'isn't he a beautiful baby' while swaing it gently back and forth. When she's done, she asked "What's his name"
"Well, his name is..." I said, thinking hard.
"Bedgar" Indrell cut in. I looked at him with a thankful look, and I say "Yes, his name is Bedgar"
"What a beautiful name. I will take good care of him, and thank you for delivering him". She smiles at me.
I turn towards Indrell, smiling, and said "I call that the end of this night's watch. Lets go and get a beer". He didnt look alltougether happy with the prospect of getting a beer with a commoner.
