Shooting through a seemingly endless void of space were four colorful souls, each surrounded by a brilliant light. The four souls flew through the void like shooting stars until they eventually fell onto a world far away. Upon entering, the world grew extraordinarily chaotic and violent. It was almost as if the world itself rejected their very presence.
The full moon shimmering beautifully in the sky turned blood red. Dark, ominous clouds quickly filled the sky, covering up the moon and stars. All the creatures of the night suddenly grew active and alarmed. Countless birds across the continent took flight, fleeing from the descended four souls. The many beasts that had been sound asleep awoke and called out to their fellow brethren, warning them of the impending danger before fleeing themselves.
Thunder struck down and a violent gust swept through the lands, uprooting trees and stones from where they stood. The earth shook, and the seas churned as if it were the belly of a primordial beast. Ancient beasts awoke, the dragons took to the skies, every species seemed to be in a panic.
The Humans left their houses, the Demons roared, and the Elves fled to the World Tree, whose roots shot into the air forming a shield in an attempt to weather to incoming storm. The Dwarves took up their arms to fight against the hundreds of beasts that invaded their caverns, and the Giants laughed joyfully as they watched the chaos, reminded of the times of old.
Even the Gods peacefully living in their great Pantheon stopped where they were and peered at the planet below. The powerful monstrous beings known as Demon Kings gathered at a single table with grim faces, and even those who lived in the nearby sub-dimensions looked on in fear. The Fae gathered together, surrounding the Fairy Queen’s luminescent lake, in which they could see the world quaking.
Suddenly the four souls shook violently, spontaneously releasing a blinding light that seemed to turned night into day. As the light dissipated, the lightning had been quelled, the earth was still, the sky cleared, and the world once again became calm and peaceful.
And as the world returned to its former state, it all just felt like a terrible dream. But no matter how hard they tried, those frightening skies, the way the earth quaked, and the seas churned would forever be ingrained in everyone's mind.
The light that the four souls released seemed to have a calming effect not only on the unnatural phenomenon occurring but on each and every race.
But just as these strange events ended, the four souls that had remained still up until this point shot out in different directions. They each began to glow, reflecting the color of their former selves. Blue, red, gold and black, each of the souls glowed a single color that radiated outwards, alternatively pulsing with intensity, shining upon the lands of man, beast, and demon alike as they shot across the sky.
The first of the four stopped above a large palace, radiating golden light as it fell downwards, shrouding the surroundings in a light that only a few seemed to be aware of. It fell into a chamber, landing within a beautiful woman’s chest before vanishing completely.
The second flew through the lands before stopping above a brilliant lake, remaining in the air for a moment, as if taking in its location, before shooting down into a nearby mountain. The soul shot into the mountain with blinding speed, sinking into the rocky surface without a sound and stopping just above a river of energy known as a Dragon Vein. Slowly, the light encased itself in a sharp crystal-like substance, with the red color darkening towards the core.
The third soul shot down to the ground and no longer sought its destination from high above. It roamed the earth from the surface until the soul stumbled upon a humble couple within a small village. The couple was heartbroken, with the woman crying in her husband's arms. It was hard to tell what exactly ailed these two villagers, but their grief was apparent on her face. As the third soul observed these two, it felt something resonate within itself. It flew over to the couple, enveloping them in a gentle light that seemed to have a calming effect, causing the woman to fall asleep in her husband's arms. As the light surrounding the two of them disappeared, the third soul was nowhere to be seen.
As for the fourth and final soul, it did not move randomly like the other three. It arrived gracefully above the large ruined castle floating in the air. All manner of life seemed to be attracted to the soul’s brilliant light, and soon large numbers of frightening beasts had gathered below the soul, prostrating before it’s might. Not paying attention in the slightest to the beasts below, the soul slowly descended and entered the earth, falling on the corpse of an unholy abomination born of an ancient taboo, and vanished.

…
A year after the first soul fell into the world and vanished within a palace. A woman whose stomach had grown large sat on a bed attended by several nurses.
One of the nurses put her hand on the woman’s shoulder, “You’ll be okay madam, the King will be here shortly with one of the finest magicians. Slowly breathe in and out.”
The woman nodded. Suddenly, the door to the room flew open “Jill! My dear!”
A man gaudily clothed in fine golden cloth walked in, followed by several knights and a tall man draped in a light green robe holding a large wooden staff. The man turned around and yelled at the robed man, “What are you doing?! Hurry up and attend to my mistress!”
The robed man calmly bowed, “Very well your highness.”
He raised his wooden staff, and in a matter of seconds, the entire room was filled with a green light. The light swirled through the room, forming leaves that gathered above the mistress named Jill. As these green luminescent leaves fell down and touched Jill’s skin, the green light immediately coated her entire body and her breathing grew calm and relaxed.
The robed man turned to the nurses, “Quick, I’ve accelerated the birthing process! My spell shall assist the madam!”
The nurse’s expressions darkened as they heeded the mage’s call. They quickly rushed over to the midwife with towels and warm bowls of water. In a timely manner, the midwife notices a small head begin to pop out. They quickly received the child, cutting the umbilical cord, and cleaned him off in a timely fashion.
The nurses looked at the child for a moment and grew extraordinarily pale, one of them turning to the King fearfully and whispering,“Your highness, he’s not crying. He’s not reacting at all.”
The king grew pale, and then his face flushed with fury, “What is going on here! Mazerd! I paid you to allow my child a safe and successful birth! Guards!”
The knights behind the two suddenly stepped forward and grabbed Mazerd’s arms. Mazerd merely laughed, smacking the floor with the bottom of his staff, and suddenly the knights holding onto him were sent flying into the hall.
“Calm down your majesty, your child is healthy and alive. I might even say he’s a little bit too healthy, what vitality! Though I suppose this is a little odd.”
Mazerd put his hand on the child's forehead, his palm glowing green. Suddenly, the child opened its eyes and cried, “Ah! Ah? Ah.”
The child many presumed dead just a moment ago suddenly began struggling in his nurse's arms. The nurses panicked as the child exhibited an unnatural amount of strength, breaking free from the blanket’s restraints and out of their hands.
Unexpectedly the child didn’t fall face first but landed on his feet before falling down on his behind. The child looked around curiously, then stared at its hands for a second. As if coming to a sudden conclusion, it turned around and stared at his unconscious mother.
He pointed his little finger at her and cried, “Ah! Ah! Aah ah!” as if demanding to be put on top of the bed.
The nurses looked at each other, perplexed, before one of them picked him up, wrapped him in a fresh towel, and put him on his mother's lap. The child’s expression seemed content as he looked around once more before falling asleep.
The king looked at his son for a moment, completely perplexed. He turned to the mage and asked, “What’s going on? Why is my son acting so strange for a baby?”
The mage laughed, “Why isn’t it obvious, he’s a child of prophecy. That mad man you all killed, oh he wasn’t mad. He was right on the money. One year ago I saw a light fall on the palace, just like he did. Congratulations, your Highness.”
The mage suddenly raised his staff, and after being surrounded by a blinding green light, he disappeared. Laughter could be heard as the mage vanished to places unknown.
The King turned to the knights behind him, laughing before his eyes turned cold. He glanced at the nurses before commanding, “Kill them all, no one is to speak of this. Enter the Wizard’s tower and have today’s memories erased, and I’ll double all your salaries and hand all of you a promotion of one rank! As for the corpses, do what you will with them, but leave this room first.”
A fierce glint appeared in the knight's eyes. They instantly charged forward, killing the nurses in the room and cutting off their heads. The knights quickly grabbed some nearby bags and stuffed the corpses into them before carrying the bodies out.
The king looked back at his son and grinned. Casting a spell of his own, the room was filled with a blue light, causing the blood on the floor and the stench of blood to disappear. He looked at the child once more before leaving the room. “Sweet dreams, my little hero.”
