Chapter 1: Stuff Happens, Deal With It

I, who just had my intestines splattered over all of my classmates faces, much to their shock and my annoyance, was not amused with the current situation. All that happened was a dinging sound, a flash of light and a creature swinging its mace towards me that caused my blood to paint the entirety of the room a beautiful, crimson color. Not even a second after my demise, a stampede of people trying to escape occurred that caused many more deaths than necessary to flee the situation.

After a rough estimate of two-thirds of my classmates either died or escaped, I ignored the situation as it was repetitive and boring. A funny coincidence was that I noticed that just as I stopped observing, another soul came out of a dead body and started floating away. Why didn't I float away? Why were they not resisting? And other question floated to the top of my mind.

To these questions I had one plausible answer, after death you were supposed to lose your memories to reincarnate but somehow I broke that process and became some sort of anomaly. Not once in this entire process did I question the reason for monsters suddenly appearing nor the reason for their slaughter of my classmates, me included. All that had happened had felt somewhat.........natural, like it was always meant to happen or should've already happened.

Seeing as I had nothing to do, I floated towards a smaller looking.......soul, I guess. I was attempting to communicate with it but when I got too close, as in touching distance, it retaliated with what appeared to be a tendril of itself. So it retaliated with a Soul Attack, as I'll call it for now. Instinctively I knew it would cause me harm so I ran away.....floated away.

It eventually stopped its pursuit and went back to floating away. But, what it didn't know was that I was planning my revenge which came almost instantly after I floated away.

I created a tendril of my own with the only thing marking my success being a ding, I continued on towards my target. After getting within 3 feet of it, I struck out quickly with my tendril aiming for what I assumed to be its chest. The strike was a success as I injured the soul but it retaliated with its own tendril in self defense, just like earlier but this time I was prepared as I launched another tendril at it.

Its tendril hit me like a hot knife through butter and hurt just as much as getting stabbed, how I know how it feels to be stabbed, don't ask but trust me it did.

Not one give up(most of the time), I struck out with my second tendril while pulling back my first for a follow up attack. Luckily, my second strike must have hit a weak point as the soul stopped reacting and started to break into pieces. Those pieces flew to me and I absorbed them, growing stronger, seemingly as a reward for my efforts. Unfortunately for the nearby souls, the absorption process was intoxicating, almost addicting and I decided that I wanted more. Not for the intoxicating feeling but for the strength, yeah for the strength...

A lot of my classmates were dying and their souls were floating away with a bit of speed so I had to pick up the pace. I would move in and double up on my first strike so it was also the killing blow and with that, my hunting speed increased. Unbeknownst to me, I had grow larger as well as stronger and every once in a while a dinging sound would occur. It was only later that I realized what the dinging meant...

Anyway, soon my schoolmates stopped dying so the influx of souls stopped so I left the school for the city, which to me, was a treasure trove beyond compare...

***A While Later In The City***

I finally made it to the city and all of its beautiful, beautiful souls, ripe for the taking. An insatiable hunger sprouted from nowhere inside of me at the sight of the souls and I started shooting tendrils out of me to kill them as fast as I could. I don't know when but at some point along the way, I gained the ability to use roughly sixty tendrils at once and use them I did.

It was a completely once sided slaughter with me as the victor and as the victor, I feasted upon hundreds, no thousands of souls that day and grew in power to unprecedented heights. But the sudden increase in power caused me to fall unconscious, that is if souls could do that.

I woke up to a series of blue screens and almost shouted out about a certain blue screen.....of death! But all jokes aside, the screens showed gains of one title, a few skills and a bunch of stats and stuff that I just ignored. When I finally got to my status screen, I almost fainted from shock.

Status screen will be put here later after I finish it
