Chapter 1: A Farming Idiot

In front of the village chief's house, a panting young man could be seen. Head's down as to try to catch his breath and body is soaked with sweat, this young man seems a bit too tired but has an excited look on his face.

He knocks on the door loudly, like he's afraid that the people inside could not hear him. He continued knocking for a while until the door opens revealing a tall middle-aged man dressed in white robes. This middle-aged man is the Chief of the Guano Town, Chief Peppero.

'Could you please knock norma-- oh Raven it's you, come inside.' said the chief as he opened the door wider to let his visitor in.

Raven walks inside still breathing heavily, the excitement still in his eyes as he faced the chief.

'I finally did it, Uncle, I have earned the amount to buy that piece of land near the Magical Beast Mountains! Now that I turned 18, I can own land! My dream farm, I can start it from now on! Raven declares excitedly.

'That land is quite large about 1 square kilometer. Normally to purchase that land needs 50 gold but due to its location near the Magical Beast Mountains only separated by a thin forest, not many are willing to buy it and the price dropped to 5 gold. Say, Raven, that land may be cheap but danger lurks around its corners.' the worried Chief said as he prepares the documents of transfer to complete their transaction.

' I know that Uncle! This is my only chance to start my dream! I know its quite dangerous but I'm will do my best to protect my farm! Uncle Albert here's the 5 gold payment. I worked really hard to earn it during these past 10 years.' Raven laughs as he remembered when he was 8 and trying to get a job around the village to earn money. The clear concern on the faces of his neighbors as they reluctantly hired him to do odd but simple jobs. The pay was measly but it piled up until he earned 6 gold. The 5 gold for the land and the remaining 1 gold to buy basic tools and seeds for his farm.

'Really, nothing can stop you. Remember to buy some droppings of the corpse skunk. It will help drive out some beast that tries to get near your farm to be. That cost 10 silvers per kilogram and a kilo are sufficient enough.' The chief said as he finalizes the ownership of land.

'I will buy that Uncle! But man, it's expensive! I'll only have 90 silvers left.' Raven exclaimed as he counts the remaining money in his bag.

'Its done! That land is yours. Heres the ownership talisman and the documents. And also this-' Chief Albert hands him a thin fist-sized token with a decorated symbol of the sun together with some documents for his transaction and a small brown seed.

'Thank you, Uncle Albert! Raven happily received the items but noticed the seed. He took it near its face for a closer look and a surprise flashed into his eyes.

Spirit Daikon seed (1st tier)

'A spirit daikon seed! It is really a spirit daikon seed! Raven tries to contain his excitement but suddenly remembered some rumors about spirit plants absorb too much spirit energy, degrading the soil and leaving the normal plants to grow slowly and die.

Seeing the sudden change on Raven's face the chief hurriedly explains. ' The spirit plants on the rumors are most mid-grade(4th tier) and above. This spirit daikon is one of the lowest rank spirit plants out there is so feel safe to plant it. I was hoping to eat it with you when its ready to harvest.' Chief Albert laughs as he loudly pats Raven's back.

'So that what it is! Thank you, Uncle!  I will share have some spirit daikon with you soon' Raven smiled as he stands up to leave.

'Uncle Albert I'll head home now. I can't wait to tell this to Granny Kale! Raven excitedly runs out of the chief house.

Seeing the figure of the young man out of his sight, the chief sighed and murmured.

'Times flies really fast, that kid rescued by Kale that stormy night has grown into a young man. A fine but farming-obsessed young man' he smiled.
