Stop. Drop. Rewrite: An Announcement.

This isn't so much of a chapter, rather than a realization.

I have little patience for bullshit, so let me keep this as candid as humanely possible.

Rain Sabbath is the strange, almost cozy story of a witch in training (but not really), a witch (but also not really), and a seemingly ordinary boy (well I think that one was pretty obviously in the not not really category). As of writing this, I am up to chapter 27 out of approximately 35 in drafting.

I've run into the problem many meet in doing their first drafts: the story didn't turn out quite expected, especially since I forgot to look back. My original intent was to write something closer to dark fantasy and psychological horror, but it ended up... a little more fuzzy and lower stakes than I wished to. Shit's basically just a cozy mystery with little horror, unless you call minor existentialism a horror.

And thus, after agonizing for a few nights (and agonizing the sales of my actual actual book: Weave Point Null: Empyrean Phantasm (go buy it pls(it has monster girls and illustrations of them))), I've decided to completely restructure this story going into a rewrite. It'll take a lot of work, but I'm thinking something with much much higher stakes from the getgo.

This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it

But that's for draft #2. Right now, you're facing down draft #1. It may be a slightly self-fulfilling prophecy as you're only here because you read it, but I'm wondering if I should force myself to finish this current storyline to its conclusion. It might take upwards of another month before that vaunted chapter every day dump, but I'm starting to have some serious doubts about if I should actually finish this or concentrate on my other writing projects. While I'm not entirely satisfied with the end product here, I wouldn't mind some second opinions. As, like, I've barely gotten any of those thus far.

The reason I'm making this post is that with what I have in mind, draft #2 with be a fundamentally different story than what's here. Characters may stay the same, but the story is going in an entirely different direction this time. I also may have been on a Higurashi binge. Just FYI.

Let me know your thoughts in the comments, as I genuinely would like some guidance — now, more than ever.
