Chapter 3

Nero looked at the rather quiet place in front of his eyes. This was the meeting place that the group had discussed. The location was quite secluded with few people walking around, and the target of their mission was located fairly close to this spot.

At this time, Nero observed before reaching out to adjust the mask that covered half of his face. He needed to protect himself somehow, even though he had the ability to respawn, nothing could guarantee his safety.

Glancing at the circular line, he pondered for a moment and made sure he was safe before moving forward to the meeting point. He did not plan to save at this point since he could not anticipate what might happen.

The last time he had saved was when he returned home after receiving the assignment. At this point, due to his low rank, he could not take assignments directly from the app.

As he walked forward, he kept looking around. While walking, he also felt the cold sensation of the gun he had purchased and carried with him to increase his chances of defense.

After waiting for a car to pass, he crossed the road and then approached the door of the bar. It looked quite normal. At this time, several people were standing in front of the bar.

As Nero got closer, they looked at him before ceasing to pay attention.

Nero opened the door of the bar and cautiously went inside. The lighting inside was dim. There were also quite a lot of people, most of whom were talking loudly and laughing while sipping beer bottles.

The noise was very loud, so no one paid attention to Nero.

Following the instructions given to him by the chat participants, Nero approached the bar where the bartender was talking to a girl. As he got there, Nero spoke up.

"Excuse me, I wanted to ask you..."

Halfway through, he stopped talking as he realized the bartender was not paying any attention to him. After a few seconds of silence, he tried again, leaning forward.

"Excuse me..."

"Get out of here, kid."

In response, the bartender simply told him off before turning his attention back to the girl. She in turn smirked and glanced askance at Nero.

Nero only felt embarrassed by the bartender's attitude. After standing there for a few more seconds, he finally said:

"Red man."

Finally, when he uttered this, the bartender looked at him. Nero clearly saw some expression of interest in the bartender's eyes.

This time he said nothing, only nodding his head toward the corner of the bar while looking at Nero. Seeing this, Nero glanced over there. Among all the noise, three people were sitting quietly in the corner of the bar. They were all dressed casually, but on closer inspection, they seemed to have stronger auras than the other people here.

Nodding to the bartender, Nero headed toward the three men. The bartender watched him with his eyes, seemingly lost in thought.

Navigating through several tables, Nero approached the table in the corner. This spot had noticeably less lighting than the center. At the moment Nero approached, it seemed these three people were discussing something. Seeing him, they stopped and stared at Nero.

"Red man."

Nero said, looking at them. The thing was, the chat participants had agreed to use a key word as a password to confirm each other's identities.

The three men looked at him, after which one nodded toward the chair next to them. They were all men, and wore masks on their faces, contrasting with the other people in the bar.

"So, now that a fourth member has joined us, let's get down to business."

The man on Nero's left spoke up.

"Let's introduce ourselves first. I'm number one."

He pointed to himself and then to the others.

"That's number two, and he's number three. As we agreed earlier, me, you and number three will be on the frontline, while number two will cover us from a distance."

Without hesitation, they began to discuss their plans.

"I've already confirmed the Target is on the third floor, guarded by 20 men."

"Wasn't it 18 before?"

Hearing their discussion, Nero subconsciously asked, but it seemed these people simply ignored him and continued the conversation.

"We'll start at 1:00 am. You two...especially you, rookie, don't get in our way. You'll follow my orders, and number two will cover us until the second floor. From there, me and number three will take over."

Nero gradually understood their attitude towards him. It was very obvious that since he was a rookie, they looked down on him.

"We have about 2 hours to get there and fully prepare."

Finally, after they had discussed everything, they got up from their seats. Nero had no choice but to also stand up and follow them.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

On the way out when they all left the bar, Nero noticed the bartender looking at him. There was also a faint, barely noticeable smirk on his face. This made Nero wary, but remembering his ability to respawn, he calmed his mood and followed the others.

Exiting the bar, they went behind it where a car was parked. The members got into the car one by one, with Nero also getting in the back seat next to one of the mercenaries.

Number one was driving. He glanced back at Nero and then at the other mercenaries before finally stepping on the gas.

The car pulled onto the road, quickly heading towards its destination. During the ride, no one spoke. Occasionally, they could be seen checking the weapons they were carrying.

Only now did Nero realize these people were armed with assault rifles. Aside from that, they also had pistols with silencers. Finally, he understood his situation - unlike them, he only had an army knife and a regular pistol.

After thinking for a bit, he spoke up awkwardly:

"Guys, I don't have a silencer...."

As he spoke, he also realized how ridiculous his situation was. Obviously, these people wanted to sneak into the building, which would be very dangerous. Seeing their pistols with silencers, they clearly understood the situation, unlike Nero who didn't even have one.

"That's fine...stick with us, you have a knife?"

Number one, who was driving, spoke up. Hearing what he said, Nero replied:

"Yeah, I have an army knife and a pistol..."

"Just that?"

At this point, Nero sensed a hint of disbelief in his voice. Not understanding what the issue was, he asked:

"What?"

"....you at least...wear a bulletproof vest?"

When he asked, Nero felt even more embarrassed. He hadn't even thought about it because his second rule said that if something went wrong, he had to quickly load the save file.

Because of this, he didn't even consider wearing body armor. Now, thinking it over, he realized how naively he had thought.

Even if he wasn't sure that death would automatically reload the save, he should still have had common sense.

After pondering for a while, he understood his mistakes and said awkwardly:

"Uh...guys, I don't have money, I could barely afford the knife and pistol."

"Alright...stick with us, follow my orders and everything will be fine."

What Nero didn't notice was that number one driving and number three in the front passenger seat both showed concealed smiles.

==================

After some time, the car that had been speeding down the road finally slowed down and turned off the road towards the trees. Passing through for a while, they reached a hill, after which the car stopped and four masked people got out.

"Number two, you'll watch from here, 87 meters to the building should be good for you?"

"I'm all set, my average range is around 200 meters."

"Good. Get ready and take position on the hill. You, number three and four, come with me." Oh, and I almost forgot, here, take this."

As he spoke, number one handed Nero something like headphones.

"This is for communication, if needed."

Looking at the device, Nero put it on his ear and followed number 1 and 3.

Soon they approached the site, passing by trees. On one side behind them were many buildings, and on the other side where Nero's team was, there was an open field with roads.

Because of this, they didn't have to hide their weapons. They approached the location holding their guns. However, along the way there was a rather tall fence. As Nero wondered how to get past it, number 1 and 3 simply took out what looked like wire cutters from their pockets and started making a hole in the fence.

Finally, after some time, they reached the building and hid not far from it. The building looked ordinary from the outside with no balconies. There was also a parking area in front, and another similar building behind it. In front of the building there were two men.

"So two outside, the rest must be inside. What's the situation, number two?"

Number one assessed and then called out to number two.

At this time, number two, who was lying on the hill concealing his body, looked through the sniper scope. He held a light sniper rifle, and his scope allowed him to freely analyze the surroundings.

"Two outside like you said...wait, there's also one in the back. He seems to be patrolling around the building, checking the area."

"So one in the back, two in front."

As he spoke, Nero saw number one glance up at the second floor of the building, then check the time on his wrist.

It showed 00:36.

"Alright, let's wait until the guy in the back passes here, then I'll help you, three and four, get on the roof to enter the third floor from over there. I'll infiltrate the security room to disable surveillance. In the meantime, wait for my signal."

Number one pointed to a metal staircase allowing access to the roof as he explained.

"Um, wasn't it said we'd be three on the frontline, why are just us two going?"

Hearing his plan, Nero couldn't help but ask number one. In response, he looked at Nero and said:

"Kid, do as I say, got it?"

When he said this, Nero felt a threatening aura coming from him. Understanding the difficulty of the situation, Nero thought and said to himself:

"Save quickly."

Seeing that the save was successful, Nero calmed down and nodded at number one.

He had already decided that if it didn't work out once, he could try again until it worked.

Time passed, and after a few seconds they saw the man walk past the building heading to the front. Seeing this, number one warned number two to be vigilant, then quickly went to the wall of the building.

Number three followed behind him. Nero saw number one take a stance with his hands in front of him. Number three then darted forward, pushed off number one's hands to jump up and reach the ladder.

This trick was familiar to Nero from movies and games he had seen before. At this point, he felt a thrill of excitement. Following suit, he also broke into a run, then placed his foot on number one's hands and jumped, grabbing the ladder.

In fact, it was easy since the ladder wasn't too high up. With number three's help, he climbed to the top, after which they started going up the roof.

"What's the situation, number two?"

"All good."

Nero kept hearing the conversation between number two and number one. Finally, number one addressed them:

"Alright, get ready, 10 seconds and I'll cut the power."

Hearing his voice, Nero looked at number three in front of him who was already poised with a silenced pistol in hand.

"10, 9...4, 3, 2, 1"

As soon as he finished speaking, all the lights suddenly went out. At the same time, number three opened the roof door. They waited for a few seconds before number three cautiously started going inside.

Nero followed after saving once more just in case.

Inside the building, it was dark but not so much that it impeded their orientation.

Unlike those who were inside, they had been waiting in the dark outside, so their eyes had adjusted to the darkness.

They went down the stairs and approached the door leading to the third floor. Nero saw number three carefully open the door, holding a pistol out in front.

Following behind, Nero held a pistol in one hand and a knife in the other. Although he lacked experience, he figured this was the best option.

Luckily for them, there was no one there. Looking around, they gradually moved down the hallway. Nero followed number three, while number three walked in front holding the pistol.

Although the building was only three stories, it was quite long in width. Besides, they didn't know exactly where the target was on the third floor. Because of this, they had to check each room one by one, which number three started doing.

They finally approached the first door.

As they prepared to enter, the door in front of them suddenly opened and someone started coming out.

This situation made Nero panic for a moment, causing him to subconsciously pull the trigger.

"Bang!"

The bullet flew out, hitting number three while the person exiting the room froze.

Nero and this person stared at each other in shock before Nero blurted out:

"Sh*t...."
