First quest

When William took his first quest he was lost in a forest, because of that the first requirement he tried to fulfill was running, since he would be running around to find humans either way.

After he ran for 15 minutes he was already tired and took a break. "At least this will be easy after I get the quest rewards. It is better for me to not get tired in the middle of nowhere, just in case I run across a monster."

After a 5 minutes break he was running once again.

In the 15 minutes he ran before the break he saw all kinds of plants, a few small animals and a couple of fruit trees but no trace of humans, as he was looking for.

After running 15 minutes more after the break he thought it would be better to climb a tree so he could see his surroundings, and so he did.

After he climbed a big tree halfway he saw a town a few kms away from him, near the ocean.

His new goal was to reach that town and his fear to die in the forest was the best way to keep that lazy young man moving towards his goal.

It took him 1 more hour to reach the town. He was so tired when that happened that even after achieving his goal of reaching the town and fulfilling one of the quest's requirements his face displayed defeat.

William just wanted to eat and rest, but it was still morning and he had a town to explore, no food to eat, no money, no job and no place to stay.

William looked at the town gates which were open and had no guards that stood by, instead there was only one guard standing above the wall in case a monster would appear "I hope this means this place is so safe they don't even need to care about who goes in and who goes out."

William walked around with a hopeless face while trying to understand how would the day-to-day life look like in this new world. When he walked past a restaurant a nice fish smell quickly changed the look on William's face "This smell is amazing, I got to make some money and eat in this restaurant. Let me just finish my quest and I will find a way to make money. Maybe I can hunt or gather some rare plants in the forest and make a good amount of money. Let me just finish this quest and become a powerhouse."

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

William kept walking around until he found an empty alley.

He didn't want anyone to see him struggling with a basic workout, instead he wanted to be seen as a master, so he just started doing his push-ups, sit-ups and squats once there was no one around him.

The push-ups and the sit-ups were not so hard for him to do. He did 10 reps each time so he did not tire out his body to quickly. However his legs were already tired from running and he felt like he could not squat 100 times. "Hey, system! Can you remove the squats requirement?" William asked.

"Once a quest is created the requirements can not be changed. Does the host want to cancel the quest?" Asked the system.

"NO! DO NOT CANCEL THE QUEST!"- William screamed as he did not want to waste all the effort he had already put into it. "I will do the squats. I can do it."

He started doing the squats, but his legs hurt and trembled just by doing one. He had to do 99 more. He said to himself "I will do 5 squats, rest and repeat, in just a few minutes it will be done. I can do it."

The more he did the harder it got. "Why didn't I make an easier quest first!?" after saying this he felt weak and pathetic.

"I am not weak! I can do it!" He said right before speeding up his squats. Adrenaline was running through his body which made him able to do 50 squats in a row and finish his quest.

"Congratulations! You finished your quest. Please check your rewards"- Said the system.

[Quest Rewards:

Strenght Xp. Not enough to level up

Stamina Xp. One level up

Agility Xp. Not enough to level up

Vitality XP. Not enough to level up ]

This rewards crumbled William's hopes. How could he turn into a powerhouse if the rewards he got were so little? Besides that, leveling up his stamina didn't even remove his fatigue. It's as if nothing had changed.

"System, is there a way to get better rewards? Should I perhaps upgrade the system?"- William asked trying to lift his hopes up.

"The system level only unlocks new functions. The host should do harder quests in order to get better rewards. The host should be aware that the rewards are exponential. This means that doing a 1000 push-ups quest has a better reward than doing a 100 push-ups quest 10 times." The system answered.

"That's it! I want a quest to do 1000 push-ups!"

"The host can only create one quest per person daily. To create more quests the host must keep creating quests in order to level up the system."

William was starting to hate the system he got. What kind of system had so many limitations and so little rewards?

Even if he was angry he still knew that he had no time to cry and complain.

He had to find a way to get something to eat. Worst case scenario he would need to explore the florest once again.
