Prolog V2 : blood of the covenant

Prolog V2 : blood of the covenant

Sullivan sat in a ruined house alone and upset, he had been betrayed by his friends in his guild not long after he lost his job; it is cold tonight, so cold that it has started to snow in the city. To make it worst it is nighttime so he can't do any quick labor to earn money.

He rubbed his hands together and in a fit of fury he kicked a cabinet that was in a state of disrepair, causing one of the doors to fall off. He noticed that there is some writing on the previously covered wood. It reads:

“The dark realm beckons you, if you are in a situation where hope is not useful descend to the depths of this house and open the amulet”

Why not? Sullivan thought to himself while he looked for the stairs leading to the basement, after finding it he descended into the murky blackness; unaware of the fact that the owner of the dark realm is watching him.

Whenever Sullivan attempted to light a torch it instantly went out making him feel oddly unsure about continuing downwards, he ignored this feeling and did so anyway

After some time had passed he ended up in a room that had stained glass roof. Their was a picture of what looked like a witch on it, another had the picture of a undead soldier and finally there was one of a man surrounded by a black cloud; the rest are blank.

In the middle of the room is a pillar with nothing on it...great...yet again Sullivan gave up on trying to get his hopes up. Though this  ended when a large, black portal manifested itself in front of him.

Without thinking he entered the portal, ending up in what looked like a temple that was created from marble.

“So you finally arrive silver hair”

Sullivan looked around to see who had greeted him, it is a woman wearing the pointy hat and robe outfit that you would be expecting a witch to wear, she has long black hair, red eyes like Sullivan and she is really adorable for some reason. She is hovering in the air.

“Can you tell me why we both have red eyes?”

“You don't know? Your parents should have told you”

Sullivan winced at the memory of his village burning and his family slaughtered in front of him, the woman realized this and panicked while attempting to apologize.

“It’s ok that was a very long time ago”

“I am so so sorry let's try that again, my name is Avelina and yours is?”

“Sullivan”

“I know you're here for more power, I will help you and our red eye color represents our innate chaos mana”

“Chaos mana?”

“Unusable, used to make other mana”

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

She led him to a wide open room, in the middle is a floating sword that is surrounded by many giant green balls of fire.

“You must plunge the sword into your chest, only then will the flames grant your desire”

Sullivan hesitated, would this kill him? Eventually he did so anyway due to the desire for revenge and the fact that he just couldn't stay weak like he used to be.

The flames shot out of the blade once he stabbed it into himself, spreading across the floor and his body; while this happened his worst memories flashed before his eyes, then both the flames and the memories vanished abruptly leaving Sullivan shocked by the rapid increase in strength that had taken place within him, through his mind a single quote echoed:

“The blood of the covenant”

He then fell to one knee while his long coat and sword bubbled and warped into a new form, by the end of this sudden transformation the coat had transformed into a nearly full set of plate armor with a small cloth that can be used for covering the mouth, a purple cape is also spread across the left side of his armor.

His sword had transformed into two thinner blades, one blue and one green, he combined them to form a greatsword.

He stood back up while the feeling of happiness spread throughout him, he looked around and saw that Avelina was no longer floating, she is walking towards Sullivan and as she gets closer Sullivan starts to realize that she is rather petite.

“What did your power say to you?”

“The blood of the covenant”

“That's a new one, give me your hand so I can see what it does”

He obliged and she formed a orb seemingly made from darkness itself over his hand, it hovered for a few seconds and then vanished.

“Your power makes it so that when you enter your dark realm form you will constantly emit a blood like liquid from your armor and sword, if it hits a corpse you may revive it as an undead that will never rot for twenty five mana, it retains its knowledge and skills based on how strong your dark resonance is. you have four hundred mana”

She seemed conflicted for a moment and then a portal opened up near him.

“Good luck friend”

“Thank you for this gift, you saved my life today”

Feeling indebted he took her small hand and kissed it, causing her to blush and turn invisible; he waved her goodbye and as he entered the portal he started to grin due to him realizing what he just did. She on the other hand sighed after he left, why did that affect her so much?
