Chapter 6: Pets Can do What?
Since the North exit that lead towards Old York was in the Demon portion of the city, I wasn’t able to freely fly around as the city seemed to be made to block people who did such things. Obviously I could fly above the 20 meter limit but that would make me stand out like a sore thumb, something I wasn’t yet willing to do.
Along the walk I noticed Demon’s in all forms of gaming. Some in groups, some solo, some trying to sell shit and some with pets! At this point I’ve never seen a pet and have no knowledge of them so of course I was a little excited when I saw one.
‘So Faefae, tell me about pets!’ –Me
‘Pets are creatures that follow you around and take a small portion of your experience, all pets start at level 1 but since pets can be sold it is possible to buy higher level pets. However, a pet cannot ever have a higher level than the owner.’ –Faefae
‘Okay that sounds good, but how do I get a pet? My money is on the low side so buying is probably out. How do the sellers get them?’ –Me
‘You can buy taming capsules, unfortunately they only work on level 1 creatures. Most all creatures of level 1 variants which are usually the baby versions of the same creature. People dub those as pets waiting to be tamed.’ –Faefae
‘Wait, I’m getting a trend here. I’m guessing taming capsules only are available in the main city yes?’ –Me
‘This is correct. They are relatively inexpensive, and pets can have anywhere from a 1-95% chance of success depending on quality of pet.’ –Faefae
‘Arrg, so you are telling me if I left now I would have no way to buy taming capsules and would them be stuck not being able to obtain a pet without using the auction house?’ –Me
‘I’m sorry! I just forgot this information. I know everything but I cannot tell you everything, so if you don’t ask me about it, I won’t know what to tell you automatically.’ –Faefae
Chance!
‘Well what are you going to do to make it up to me? Know that my goal is a cool pet.’ –Me
‘Oh I know! I can take over a pet and become your pet!’ –Faefae
Success!
‘Okay, make a good pet and I’ll forgive you. How many capsules should I buy?’ –Me
‘100 to be safe, they only cost a copper. The vendor over there should sell them.’ –Faefae
I look to where I think she is pointing. Don’t ask how I know it is just a feeling, but it seemed to work as a general goods vendor was sitting over there.
Vendors work weird in this game, especially since everyone knows they are NPCs. I just have to walk up to them and say open vendor and bam I see the vendor interface. From there it didn’t take long to find the weird red and white balls with black stripes that were used for taming. Wasting a silver I bought 100 of them and proceeded to walk back towards the exit, when I realized I had no clue where to find a pet and what pet would work, let alone what the pet could do.
‘Oh by the way, what type of pet would allow you to work at your highest potential?’ –Me
‘Since I will be hacking the pet anyways, I just need one that is close to my true form which is a Fairy. So just go to the Forbidden Forest off to the west and maybe we can find a level 1 Fairy!’ –Faefae
I knew it! Always a catch!
If my reading has taught me anything, the only thing forbidden about a forest with Fairies is the lake in the middle and the Guardian that keeps people away. So the question is, do I go to the middle and test my luck and maybe find some treasure, or be a pussy and look for a one near the entrance.
Being a pussy won out so I quickly made my way to the West which was a totally different exit than the North one I was already at, and then asked the guards where the forest was. They eventually told me, but not after I refused half a dozen quests. I mean who wants to do quests? Like I care about the safety of a city I have no plan on visiting again.
Fast forward two hours and I finally sneaked to the edge of the forest. I had to dodge a ton of players plus a few trains of boars from the stupid Undead sector. I wasn’t ready yet to start my killing spree, especially against Demons and Undead since at the moment I should keep my current enemies as my current enemies. It appears a few Humans hate our races so I will start on them! Of course I need to turn red before I can gain experience from PK, so I must use my time in the forest wisely!
Once in the forest I started to follow a group of three as I overheard them say something about finding a Fairy pet as they sell for a lot. Well that wasn’t good news for me as something that sells for a lot is harder to get. But what got my attention was their leader who was a Barbarian and was a red player!
That means if I manage to kill him I can steal his loot, and if I can kill one of his friends first to turn red, I can even gain experience for it! The Barbarian was nearly 7 feet tall so I had to ask about that.
‘How come the Barbarian is so tall? I could only gain 2 inches!’ –Me
‘Because Barbarians start at 6’5” and can hit 8’0” depending on the height of the person who became one. This guy being 7’0” means he is probably around 6’0” or so in real life. Also Barbarians can raise their height by 4 inches instead of the two of most classes.’ –Faefae
‘Damn what a cheating race! Oh well time to keep stalking these three and wait for an opportunity.’ –Me
‘Also be sure to kill one of the two non reds before the red so you can gain experience. The Undead is the lowest level so start there as you won’t gain any experience on your first kill.’ –Faefae
This made me look at their levels. Unfortunately for players, all you can see is their level from a distance and up close you can finally see their name.
Ragnor Level 18 (Barbarian)
Timber Level 17 (Demon)
Nimble Level 14 (Undead)
It appears it is impossible to see someone else’s stats or even their class. Of course the two handed sword on the Barbarian means he is at least one of the Fighter classes most likely or maybe a stupid Paladin on the wrong side of the world, but I’ll have to save him for last. The Demon is clearly an archer so that’s easy, but he has stealth and flight so I have to be careful. The Undead noob is a bunch of walking bones with a staff. No clue what class he is since Undead casters and healers get some weird classes.
I mean instead of Sorcerer they get Warlock, instead of Priest they get Dark Priest, it’s weird and only Undead can heal other Undead. And to make things worse, Undead healers are all damage dealers towards non undead! Kind of like a Priest or Cleric fighting Undead but in reverse! This makes them a difficult opponent so I’ll have to be extra careful here. I’m just glad the Archer didn’t learn how to sense others in stealth, he must have skipped the tutorial (lol).
“Finally, a large group of Fairies! Let’s kill the regular ones and find the level 1. We are going to get rich today. Also if others come near I’ll get the final hit so don’t worry about turning red.” –Ragnor
“We cannot go to deep or we will meet the guardian.” –Timber
“I don’t fear the Guardian. A few curses and we will easily be able to run away.” –Nimble
Fuck curses! All undead casters, except maybe enchanters, have curses! I need a better clue.
Fortunately I didn’t have to wait too long as they started fighting. Yup, all fights started with the stupid Barbarian charging in with his sword ignoring the fact that he had two ranged teammates that could safely pull them with an arrow or a spell. Fortunately for me, I was able to see the types of spells that Nimble was casting and the Dark Bolts gave it away. Only Warlocks have that.
This is great news as that means he cannot heal himself! Not worst than a healer, especially since I have no cc abilities!
Feeling confident, maybe overconfident? I decided it was time to take out the Warlock! Fortunately he was slower than the others and always stood in the back, so I waited until the stupid Barbarian pulled 5 Fairies which should be suicide without a healer, and attacked!

Of course being a caster without any armor, he had little to no defense and died instantly!
*DING*
You have killed a player in cold blood. You will now be marked red and be able to gain experience from killing players.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Success!
“Fuck! Someone killed Nimble! Don’t let him escape, use your special move!” –Ragnor
As I turn around to run far away and restealth, the Archer was one step ahead.
POWER SHOT! –Timber
-497
Ouch! How does one arrow hit that hard? I don’t have any abilities that hit even close to that! Well at least it had a long cooldown and I was able to hide behind a tree and then resealth.
I’m glad all you need to stealth is to have no one looking at you for the second you attempt it, very easy to do even in combat.
As I was still close I made sure to get closer and see how their fight was going. That is when I noticed that one of the five was level 1! No wonder he charged so recklessly. Good thing for him he didn’t have any reactive shields or it would already be dead. He also seemed to know what he was doing as even tanking 4 Fairies and he wasn’t dying. He must have really good armor as the Fairies are only level 15 and he is level 18.
Once two of the 5 fairies were dead I decided now was a good time to attack the Archer who was level 17. I’m only 15 so I should get good experience for this.
Using the same method was before I used my aura and combo and managed to take him down on my 3rd combo. It seems his leather wasn’t for looks as I was only hitting in the 60s and 70s instead of 90s and 100s, that is why it took 3 attacks to kill him. Sadly he didn’t drop any loot which I suppose is normal for regulars.
Unfortunately, he yelled when my first set of combos came out as he had a full second before my second set came, more than enough time to yell for help. Too bad he died before Ragnor could help him.
“Fuck you motherfucker! As soon as I finish these two weakling Fairies I’m going to kill you!” –Ragnor
“Do that and I may kill the level 1.” –Me
“Hey now, no need to be hasty. Let’s talk this through first.” –Ragnor
Seeing as it was already in combat and it’s harder to tame a pet that is in combat, I decided to talk first. Of course I went into stealth so he couldn’t cheap shot me.
“Okay I’m listening.” –Me
“We should team up, you are red like me so surely you know the power of being red.” –Ragnor
Now that he mentioned it, I did notice I gained almost 2 levels for killing a level 17. Apparently once red you gain the full amount of experience that the person who died loses. So the amount of experience to go from 16-17 was all gained at once making me 75% of the way to 17!
“Of course I know!” –Me
Hey I’m not that stupid! I may have taken me a moment, but I did learn what I needed to know!
“We can split the money on the Fairy and then group u and wreck havoc on the other noobs in the forest. We will level up fast!” –Ragnor
“Sounds good, but how are we supposed to tame it? He is already in combat!” –Me
“Oh you didn’t know? It doesn’t matter that the Fairy is in combat, it only matter if the one doing the taming is in combat. So if you join my group and wait for me to kill these two then you can tame the Fairy fair and square and we can split it later.” –Ragnor
Chance!
‘Hey Faefae, what do I have to do for you to take over the Fairy?’ –Me
‘Just tame it, the one who tames it automatically adds it to their pet slot, I will take over from there then bind myself to you so no one can steal the pet even if you die. As level 1 pets can drop just like loot.’ –Faefae
‘Okay I’ll follow this guy and see what he does next.’ –Me
“Okay invite me, surely you know my name by now.” –Me
Ragnor has invited you to a party.
So I accepted it.
You have Joined the party.
“Okay good, now let me kill these first then I’ll tank the level 1 while you tame it. Then we will wreck havoc on the forest!” –Ragnor
“Sure thing.” –Me
So I waited the next minute for him to down them while still in stealth. The experience from them was abysmal being in a group and them being level 15 but that isn’t’ why I was here.
“Okay done, now tame it!” –Ragnor
‘Be careful, once the taming is success your stealth will break. For some reason tossing the ball doesn’t break stealth, only success does.’ –Faefae
‘Don’t worry, even if he kills me it will be too late!’ –Me
“Okay starting now, don’t kill it!” –Me
Let’s just say Fairies are rare so their chance of success is closer to 1% than 95%. It took forever! As the capsules have a 1 minute cooldown, so after an hour of tossing the balls I finally got the message I was looking for.
*DING*
You have successfully tamed Fairy.
It must be noted that pets have their own growth rates and other stupid stats that no one understands, but what makes them rare or expensive are their looks! Yes women play this game and since women control men’s wallets, what they want is what costs a lot! I mean, I not only didn’t know what abilities Fairies had, I didn’t fucking care!
‘Okay success, I have taken over the Fairy, so next time you summon me I’ll be me!’ –Faefae
Of course Ragnor chose that time to attack me.
You have been Kicked out of the party.
SLAM! –Ragnor
-507
Fuck Slam is a stun, I hope he isn’t a Warrior or his next attack will be…
POWER STRIKE! –Ragnor
-1009
Shit I had a sliver of life left! But the stun is gone so I instantly flew straight up!
“Barbarians cannot fly bitches!” –Me
“Come down you little bitch and drop that Fairy, you are red so it will drop for sure!” –Ragnor
‘Summon me!’ –Faefae
So I did, and out came a surprise! Instead of the regular Fairies we were fighting, I got the 24” Fairy that Faefae first showed off to me. Only she sparkled and other stuff. This made me inspect her to see why.
Faefae Level 1 (God)
And she sparkled! She’s a God tier pet! How is that even possible?
“So Faefae, what can you do to this poor Barbarian?” –Me
“Well nothing yet since I’m level 1, but now he should know that I am bound to you and will not drop. Oh but I can heal you!” –Faefae
HEAL! –Faefae
+30
“Not bad eh? That’s almost twice as good as a level 1 Healer!” –Faefae
“Yes yes very good, now heal me up so we can start this fight over.” –Me
And she did. Of course I have no clue what she meant by healing more than a level 1 healer, but I’m sure she will tell me later, right now is time to kill Ragnor!
“Can you stealth?” –Me
“No, but if I’m on your shoulder I will disappear when you stealth!” –Faefae
And as if she could read my mind, she sat down on my shoulder.
I then dropped to the floor and used stealth! I then got behind him and with my aura destroyed him!
He may have twice the hp of the Archer, but that Archer died in under 2 seconds, it only took about 3 to kill Ragnor!
*DING*
Level Up x2!
And like that I was level 18. And to make life better, he dropped his sword! That means money!

And though things look good for Jun this chapter, things may not all be roses later. HUEHUEHUEHUE! Also this is not the last of Ragnor!
