9 YEARS LATER

Eyes fluttered open as a young man awakened from a dream. The young man sat up in his bed, panting hard and trying to catch his breath. It appeared as if the dream he had was actually a nightmare from his condition at the moment. He placed his hands on his temple and closed his eyes, trying to sync with reality once more. When he finally took his hands off, the sun's rays had passed through the windows of the room, illuminating his features.

The young man had slightly long black hair that stretched below his neck. He had a very white complexion as he was still recovering from his dream but his facial features were very exquisite. It looked like it was carved by a god, as his nose, eyes and mouth all complemented each other perfectly. But these were all secondary compared to his eyes, which glowed in the dark of the room like a wolf in the silent night. The pupils were a deep green, deep enough that anyone could make out the color with a casual glance. They had an extremely intelligent feel to them and one could notice if they tried hard enough that this young man had been through a lot. Overall, he was quite handsome, extraordinarily handsome. He looked to be about seventeen years old, his youthful body still developing somewhat.

The young man was shaken out of his thoughts as he heard and felt the rustle of the bed sheets next to him. He looked over and noticed a head peeking out, staring at him with an interested glint in its eyes. The figure underneath the sheets moved and also sat up above the sheets, revealing a figure that would make most men lose their minds. The figure was a sixteen year old girl with a heaven defying beauty....and she was stark naked.

The young woman had a relatively medium height and her level of beauty was absolutely over the top. Her long legs were clean and the skin looked as pristine as jade. "Brother~. I only love you, and you've seen my body so many times before. It's okay if you take me~." she said coquettishly while dragging herself closer to the boy. The young man was obviously Lin Xiu Shen. Hearing her remarks, Xiu Shen smiled wryly and sighed.

"Don't say such idiotic things. Come, let's get dressed." He did not converse with her any longer and laid his arms under her lithe and graceful body. Then, he lifted her into the air like a princess and brought her out of the bed, not talking even a single bit to her. Lin Jia Yue understood his concern and a smile bloomed on her face like a flower. She knew that he was not truly angry and was the only one who understood this brother of her's the most out of anyone. Xiu Shen carried her over to the bathroom, where he placed her whole entire body carefully into the tub. He made sure she was flat when she was put down so there wouldn't be any pain. Then, he turned the faucet to warm water and began to bathe her.

Xiu Shen took the soap and rubbed it in his palms, then scrubbing it on Jia Yue's body gently. She was very delicate so he could not afford to be careless. Regardless of whether she was delicate or not however, he would have done so. Jia Yue's skin tingled when it reacted with her brother's touch. A warm sensation filled her body as the water poured onto her back. Xiu Shen was in his boxers so he too got in the tub and squatted down to cleanse her. Next to one of the sofas was an iron wheelchair, vacant and clearly belonging to someone. Xiu Shen walked over to the wheelchair with Jia Yue in tow and placed her in the seat. As Jia Yue got comfortable in the chair, he glanced at it in melancholy. He was keenly aware of the circumstances that led to Jia Yue landing in the wheelchair. The girl looked at him with a flower like smiled and dispelled all of the sad thoughts from his head.

"Brother, let's go to the park today. I want to see the people again."

Xiu Shen nodded and pushed the wheelchair out of the doorway. As he did this, he remembered what had happened that prompted Jia Yue to be confined to the wheelchair. It had occurred when she was twelve years old and Xiu Shen was thirteen. Jia Yue had been playing outside with her elder brother when suddenly, her leg limbs had become frozen in place. She tripped and fell and found that she could not move her legs at all. She could only move her upper body and when asked about it, said that it felt like shocks were running through her body and a strange hotness coming on. Anyways, Jia Yue was sent to the hospital immediately and the doctors worked on her for days on end. Surprisingly, none of them could diagnose her condition at all!

Xiu Shen and his uncle complied and took care of Jia Yue every day. Though, it was mostly Xiu Shen taking care of her as his uncle was never at the house. It grew to the point where they were nearly inseparable and they both appreciated the time they spent together. Xiu Shen strolled about with Jia Yue down the sidewalk, heading in the direction of the park. Along the way, a middle aged man jogged down in their direction and as his eyes made contact with them, they sparkled. The man stopped jogging and stood next to the two and said,

"Good morning Jia Yue, Xiu Shen. The usual stroll?"

"Good morning Uncle Xiao. Brother is taking me to the park today." Jia Yue laughed and greeted the man with some conversation. The man was quite familiar to the two and had been living next to them as a neighbor for quite some time. Uncle Xiao would frequently do favors for them and collect groceries from the store when Xiu Shen had to take care of Jia Yue. He was a very amiable man and kind enough to spare time for the two siblings who had suffered misfortune. He was actually one of the only people in the neighborhood who would spare time for them. The man nodded and said,

"Well, I will let you go have your walk. But if you need anything, please don't hesitate to call me." Xiu Shen nodded in response and gave a light smile. He was not really one for talking and usually kept to himself. Uncle Xiao jogged past them and continued on the sidewalk. The two siblings continued on their own path towards the park, about fifteen minutes away. They passed many neighbors of theirs on the way and greeted them lightly before moving on. Eventually, they reached a wide open space full of greenery and life.

The space was easily a couple miles long and there were many playgrounds scattered throughout the area. Children ran across the place, playing games and laughing in delight. There were many courts and fields for those who wished to play sports there. Alongside those courts were a series of food and drink shops that sold a variety of things. Xiu Shen pushed the wheelchair around the various forests and greenery, slowly moving so that Jia Yue could take in the scenery. They went on and on and quite a few hours passed by. Xiu Shen did not get tired at all however and did not make even a hint of a complaint. He was willing to do whatever was necessary for his sister and nothing would stop him.

"Brother, you must sit down. There's a bench over there where you and I can rest." Xiu Shen didn't say anything and merely nodded. Then, he pushed Jia Yue over to wooden bench and sat down. He stared at Jia Yue's face and watched as the contentment from being around people surfaced on her face countless times. She felt so alive when she was at the park. Although she wouldn't interact with them, just being around them made life so much brighter for her. Xiu Shen felt as peace merely seeing her incandescent smile everyday.

After a little bit, Jia Yue's stomach growled somewhat. She looked away from Xiu Shen embarrassingly, trying to hide the sound that came out. Xiu Shen smiled at her and stood up while at the same time surveying his surroundings. Finally, his gaze came to rest on a small ice scream shop only a few minutes away from their position.

"Sit tight. I'll go get something for us to eat."

Jia Yue nodded and wanted to apologize for making him do so much work but she saw the willing look on Xiu Shen's face and decided not to. You could hardly stop her brother when it came to these things. Thinking about their lifestyle all these years made warmth rush into her heart. Xiu Shen was truly the most important person in her life.

A few minutes later, Xiu Shen came back with two ice cream cones, filled with different toppings. He handed one over to Jia Yue and sat next to her on the bench. They enjoyed the treat for a while, savoring the taste and tranquility of the atmosphere.

"Brother, have a taste."

Jia Yue held the ice scream to her brother's face that she had already licked with an innocent looking face. However, Xiu Shen was clearly aware of the mischievous antics that his sister could get up to; but he still didn't refuse. He raised his head and took a bite of the ice scream. Anyone who saw this scene would be overcome with warmth and happiness. He licked his lips in satisfaction and sat down once more. Then, as Jia Yue was enjoying her ice scream he said,

"Uncle said that we should go visit Lin Wei tomorrow."

"Cousin? Okay. We'll go visit him tomorrow." Jia Yue's facial expression didn't change very much after hearing the name. However, her eyes did slightly flinch and the hint of a frown could be seen on her face. Xiu Shen narrowed his eyes as he noticed his change. Although it was minuscule, Xiu Shen could sense every movement that his sister made. It was what he had trained himself to do and he had cared for her long enough to know when she had mood swings.

"Are you sure? You don't have to if you don't want to. I can persuade Uncle to not have the trip this time." Jia Yue saw the amount of consideration he showed for her and bit her lips fiercely, putting on a bright smile to hide her sorrow.

"No...if Uncle wants me to visit Lin Wei, then I will. After all, I owe everything to him as well as you. There will be no problem." Xiu Shen nearly sighed at the amount of bravery that his sister and lover held in her heart.

"Very well. But if you ever feel uncomfortable at all in any point of time, I'll take you away. Fine?"

"Okay brother!"

Xiu Shen tuned out for a while, thinking about the order that his uncle had given him. Visiting Lin Wei wasn't something he wished to do however his uncle's orders were absolute. They couldn't be disobeyed and besides, Lin Xiu Shen owed far too much towards his uncle. His uncle was the one who had taken him in. Xiu Shen treated him with ultimate respect. However, even he saw his uncle very few times. Even if he had to disobey his uncle, he would place Jia Yue's comfort above his uncle's wishes.
